Casa Vereda is a newly built single-family home in Los Ramos, in the huerta of Murcia, Spain. Designed by L’Aura Ortín Architecture for Happiness, it uses curved brick vaults, cork-covered surfaces and adjustable shutters to connect daily life with the agricultural landscape. The architects describe these choices as a way to respond to place and climate; published sources do not provide measured energy or comfort results.

Where Casa Vereda is and who designed it

The house is located in Los Ramos, within Murcia’s huerta, a landscape shaped by agriculture. ArchDaily’s project feature, published 3 October 2026, identifies the project year as 2026 and credits L’Aura Ortín Architecture for Happiness. The project team includes lead architect Laura Ortín, architectural designer Tatiana Poggi, technical architects Antonio Ros of Otarin Estudio and Cintia Collado, structural engineer CYD, and contractor Coprosaro. ArchDaily’s feature lists the location as Murcia, Spain.

How the design responds to the huerta

The architects describe the project as an attempt to inhabit nature without competing with it. Their account connects the house to the region through its orientation, shade, ventilation, light and shadow, and relationship to outdoor space. It also draws on the memory of local agricultural forms and infrastructure rather than treating the home as an isolated object.

That approach is expressed in both the building’s form and its daily-use spaces. The architects describe lower ceilings in the bedrooms as creating a more intimate scale, while taller shared areas accommodate group activity. These are stated design intentions, not published findings from occupant surveys or measured comfort studies.

Materials and construction choices

Curved brick roofs

The project uses curved roofs made with traditional Catalan vaulting and handcrafted brick. The technique gives the roof its distinctive profile while referencing local building memory, according to the project description.

Terrazzo, pine and terracotta

Interior finishes include terrazzo and natural pine lacquered in a cherry tone. Handcrafted terracotta is used on the exterior. The palette combines materials with a tactile, locally grounded character, while the project description does not publish comparative durability or lifecycle data.

Sprayed cork and adjustable shutters

Sprayed cork covers parts of the façade and roof. The architects say it improves thermal and hygrothermal behavior while preserving continuity across those surfaces. Studio-designed, leaf-green powder-coated aluminum shutters provide solar protection and security, as described by the project team.

What the bioclimatic design claims—and what is measured

The project description frames bioclimatic design as a basic way of shaping the house, rather than an added feature. It says the terrazzo can absorb and retain solar warmth in winter; with the shutters protecting it in summer, the floor is described as remaining cool. Lower bedroom ceilings are also said to make those rooms easier to heat and cool.

These statements describe the architects’ intentions and expected effects. The published sources provide no measured energy use, thermal-comfort data, life-cycle assessment, certification, or post-occupancy study. No numeric energy savings or health outcomes can therefore be attributed to Casa Vereda.

Project area: published figures differ

ArchDaily lists Casa Vereda at 260 m². The studio’s official project page and its search listing report 240 m²; the accessible page also retains older “in project” status metadata. The sources do not explain whether the area figures use different measurement conventions or why the status differs, so the discrepancy remains unresolved.

Furniture in the house

Furniture maker LUFE says its pieces are used in Casa Vereda and lists tables, benches, chairs, beds, desks and storage. Its project feature supports the presence of furniture from those categories, but does not establish that a particular model is available through any specific retailer. Readers looking for a similar category can browse solid wood dining tables without assuming they are the models shown in the home.
