Leica Geosystems announced its X-PAD surveying portfolio and the GS11 GNSS smart antenna on September 14, 2026. X-PAD brings field software, selected instruments and connected services together for routine surveying work. Leica describes the GS11 as adding live-view guidance and image-based point measurement to that workflow; the announcement does not provide independent performance testing or detailed receiver specifications.
What is Leica X-PAD?
X-PAD is Leica Geosystems’ portfolio for a selected set of everyday surveying tasks. It combines field software with compatible instruments and connected services, using workflows familiar to GeoMax customers. Leica positions it alongside two other offerings with different roles: Captivate is framed for maximum capability across surveying projects, while iCON focuses on construction workflows. The announcement describes those roles functionally, not as a technical or performance comparison.

What does the GS11 do in the field?
The GS11 is a GNSS smart antenna that Leica says supports three parts of a field workflow:
- Navigate to points: use a live view of the site for augmented-reality guidance.
- Review captured work: check information in the field before leaving the site.
- Measure from imagery: take measurements at locations that a survey pole cannot safely or easily reach.
Leica presents these capabilities as ways to help crews confirm work on site and reduce return trips or rework. Its September 14 announcement gives no quantified time-saving or accuracy results, so these are manufacturer-described workflow capabilities rather than independently verified performance claims.

How does X-PAD connect instruments, fieldwork and the office?
Leica names the GS11, GS05 GNSS smart antenna and TS13 robotic total station as compatible instruments for X-PAD. The connected workflow also includes:
- X-PAD Fusion to extend the workflow into the office.
- Hexagon GeoCloud for field-to-office data exchange.
- Hexagon SmartNet for GNSS positioning services.
The release identifies these components but does not detail specific integrations, data formats or service terms.
What happens to GeoMax products and workflows?
Leica says it will continue developing X-PAD with support for Leica Geosystems and GeoMax instruments. GeoMax products remain available for purchase, and technical service will continue. Leica also says GeoMax partners will work with the Leica Geosystems network to bring X-PAD to market.

When will X-PAD be available, and what is not yet specified?
The September 14, 2026 launch announcement plans availability in select countries during 2026, followed by broader availability in 2027. It does not identify the initial countries or confirm current local stock. It also gives no price or detailed GS11 specification table.
Recommended Free Tools
For an equipment decision, buyers will need current manufacturer documentation or local dealer confirmation of the GS11 configuration, supported GNSS signals, published RTK performance, image-measurement and AR details, compatibility with existing equipment, and local pricing and service terms. The launch announcement does not establish those comparisons.
