But those were manufacturer claims, and the available record does not establish that UGetLight outperformed SWITCH. SWITCH has stronger evidence: a 2013 independent review measured its light output, beam angle, weight and temperatures. That review found a very wide beam and lower operating temperature than one conventional comparison bulb in its test, but also a heavy fixture load and a slower cooldown after shutoff.
What UGetLight announced
In a 5 March 2014 announcement, Beijing UgetLight Co. listed three E27 models. It offered each in 3000K, 4500K and 6500K color temperatures:
| Model | Power | Incandescent equivalence claimed by UGetLight |
|---|---|---|
| UGL-S14-6E27 | 6W | 60W |
| UGL-S14-8E27 | 8W | 75W |
| UGL-A19-12E27 | 12W | 100W |
UgetLight also claimed a 50,000-hour life, CRI above 80, 360-degree lighting and operating temperatures of 40–55°C. Its stated efficacy was above 80 lumens per watt for warm colors and 100 lumens per watt for white colors. These are launch claims from the manufacturer, not results from an independent test in the available record.
The company described a high-strength polycarbonate body intended to resist humidity and vibration, non-stroboscopic light, and an electrically insulating cooling liquid. Those construction descriptions and performance figures do not, on their own, establish a bulb’s present-day safety certification or suitability for a particular fixture.

How SWITCH compares on documented specifications
A 10 October 2013 Kaden Watch review identified SWITCH as a San Jose company distributed in Japan by Canon Marketing Japan. It compared SWITCH80 and SWITCH100 with LED bulbs from Hitachi and Toshiba. The review reported these specifications:
| Measure | SWITCH100 (A1100FJP40A2-S) | SWITCH80 (A175FJP27A4-S) | Hitachi 100W equivalent | Toshiba 80W equivalent |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Rated life | 40,000 h | 40,000 h | 40,000 h | 40,000 h |
| Brightness | 1,520 lm | 1,160 lm | 1,520 lm | 1,160 lm |
| Power | 20 W | 18.5 W | 16.7 W | 12.4 W |
| Beam angle | 290° | 290° | 180°+ | 230° |
| Weight | 300 g | 300 g | 135 g | 186 g |
| Color temperature | 4,000 K | 2,700 K | 2,700 K | 2,700 K |
| Suitable for enclosed fixtures | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Dimmable | Yes | Yes | No | No |
The review’s SWITCH figures are a useful point of comparison, but they do not turn UGetLight’s launch claims into independently verified measurements. The UGetLight announcement gives no measured lumen output for these models, so a direct output comparison cannot be made from the available figures.

Does the 360-degree claim mean more even light?
UGetLight claimed 360-degree lighting; the SWITCH models in the Kaden Watch review were specified at 290 degrees. On those figures alone, UGetLight promised wider distribution. That does not prove that a room would look brighter or more evenly lit: beam angle is not the same as measured brightness across a room, and there is no independent UGetLight distribution test here.
SWITCH’s 290-degree specification was substantially wider than the 180°+ Hitachi and 230° Toshiba models in the same review. For a construction or retrofit decision, the useful question is whether light reaches the areas that matter in the actual fixture—not simply which bulb has the largest angle printed in a launch claim.

What the thermal evidence says about liquid cooling
SWITCH’s measured behavior in a two-hour test
Kaden Watch ran the bulbs continuously for two hours, using sensors at the socket and bulb top. For the 100W-equivalent SWITCH, the reviewer recorded about 90°C at the metal heat-dissipation area and about 70°C at the glass light-emitting area. The compared Hitachi bulb’s emitting area stayed near 50°C. After switch-off, SWITCH took about 40 minutes to reach 40°C; Hitachi and Toshiba reached that temperature in about 25 minutes.
Those are readings from that review’s test setup and sensor locations, not universal operating temperatures for every installation. The reviewer’s conclusion was that metal conduction was more efficient in that setup, while liquid cooling could be useful where direct metal conduction was difficult. The slower cooldown also shows why a single operating-temperature claim cannot describe all aspects of thermal behavior.

What the liquid-cooling explanation establishes
In a 1 May 2014 Tech Briefs article, SWITCH Lighting Co.’s David Horn described its LQD Cooling System as electrically non-conductive liquid silicone circulating by passive convection: warmed liquid rises from the LEDs, transfers heat to the outer shell, cools and sinks back. The article claimed about 40% greater heat dissipation than air-cooled bulbs, use in enclosed fixtures and any orientation, and at least 25,000 hours in those conditions. It also claimed that applying LQD technology could lower LED temperature by about 30°C and increase light output by 15%. These are SWITCH’s technical claims, distinct from the Kaden Watch review’s measurements.
The explanation helps clarify the design principle, but it is not a head-to-head test of UGetLight and SWITCH. Nor does it establish that either historical product is certified for a present-day installation.

Installation considerations: fixture rating, enclosure and dimmer
Check the socket’s mechanical capacity
The Kaden Watch review measured each SWITCH model at 300 g—roughly ten times the 30 g incandescent bulb cited in the review. The reviewer warned that older sockets designed for light incandescent bulbs might not safely support that mass. For a retrofit, check the fixture’s condition and load capacity rather than assuming that a matching screw base makes the bulb mechanically suitable.
Verify enclosure and dimmer compatibility for the exact bulb
The SWITCH models in the review were marked suitable for enclosed fixtures and dimmable. SWITCH’s 2014 technical article also claimed enclosed-fixture and any-orientation operation for its LQD system. The UGetLight launch announcement claimed a 40–55°C operating temperature, but the available details do not establish a specific enclosed-fixture rating or dimming compatibility for its models. Confirm the exact model’s labeling and applicable local certification before using it in an enclosed fixture or on a dimmer; historical claims are not a substitute for current product documentation.
Which bulb gives better evidence—and is UGetLight still available?
On the evidence available, SWITCH is the better-documented product, not a proven overall winner. SWITCH has an independent review with measured output, beam angle, weight and a limited thermal test, alongside the company’s own explanation of its cooling system. UGetLight’s broad distribution, lifetime, efficacy, color rendering and temperature figures come from its 2014 launch material. That supports the conclusion that it was a serious product proposal, but not that its performance claims were independently confirmed or that it beat SWITCH.
The cited records are historical: UGetLight’s announcement is from 2014, and the SWITCH review is from 2013. They do not establish whether either bulb is currently sold, its present price or warranty, or the current status of its certifications. Before specifying or buying either model, verify a live exact-model listing and check the socket standard, certification, warranty, dimmer compatibility and fixture instructions for the unit actually offered.
