To make a wrapped gift look polished, use one small natural accent—such as rosemary, a dried flower, citrus, a pine cone, or a cinnamon stick—and secure it beneath a neat ribbon or twine tie. Choose fresh or dried materials based on when you plan to give the gift, and finish the paper folds cleanly.
Start with a neat wrap and a simple tie
Plain or kraft paper makes natural details easier to see. Wrap the parcel smoothly, then tie ribbon or twine around it, leaving a crossing or knot where a small accent can sit. Tuck the embellishment under the tie rather than laying it loosely on top. If it needs more support, thin wire or a small drop of glue can help hold it in place.

1. Greenery or a woody herb
A small sprig of rosemary, eucalyptus, or other greenery adds a fresh, understated accent. Slide the stem beneath the twine or ribbon crossing. Fresh foliage can wilt, so add it close to the time you will give the gift; dried foliage is a better choice when wrapping ahead.

2. A dried flower
Try a small stem or bundle of dried lavender or another dried flower. Tuck the stems under the tie and let the bloom remain visible as the focal detail. Keeping the bundle modest helps it sit neatly against the package.
3. A dried citrus slice
A dried orange slice gives a flat, visible accent. Tuck it beneath a ribbon or secure it into the bow so it lies close to the paper rather than shifting around.

4. A clean pine cone

Choose an accent that suits the package
Think about when you are wrapping, how flat the accent needs to sit, and whether it will be secure on the parcel. Fresh greenery suits a gift that will be given soon; dried flowers and citrus are more convenient when preparing gifts in advance. A citrus slice or flower generally lies flatter beneath a tie, while a pine cone adds more depth. Cinnamon is a practical kitchen-spice option, while pine cones may be seasonal or collected locally.
The five ideas above are not the only possibilities: leaves, seed heads, other herbs, twigs, berries, and dried apple can also decorate a package. Choose materials that are in good condition and appropriate for the recipient.
