Check the official US P1S page and the P1 Series collection. Indexed official pages have shown different default bundles, so do not rely on the headline price until the variant is selected.
Is $399 really an all-time low?
The defensible description is record-low observed US pricing for a new standalone P1S. Tom’s Hardware reported the same $399 price in more than one sale period, and Bambu Lab’s June–July 2026 anniversary promotion also advertised record-low pricing. That pattern makes $399 recurring sale pricing rather than a uniquely short early-Black-Friday event.
A deal headline called this “early Black Friday” pricing, but the available evidence does not establish that Bambu Lab officially named an August promotion Black Friday. Treat that wording as editorial shorthand unless the retailer’s live promotion says otherwise. Prices in Europe and Canada are not directly comparable because currency, VAT and regional pricing differ.

Printer hardware
- Enclosed CoreXY FDM printer with a 256 × 256 × 256 mm build volume.
- Steel chassis with plastic and glass enclosure.
- All-metal hot end and stainless-steel 0.4 mm nozzle.
- Automatic bed levelling, filament-runout detection and power-loss recovery.
- Low-frame-rate built-in camera for monitoring and time-lapse.
- Activated-carbon filtration and additional cooling fans.
Published performance and connectivity
Bambu lists a maximum hot-end temperature of 300°C, a maximum bed temperature of 100°C, toolhead speed up to 500 mm/s and acceleration up to 20,000 mm/s². Those are manufacturer limits, not guaranteed speeds for every model or material. The printer supports Wi-Fi, Bambu Studio, Bambu Handy, microSD and USB workflows. What is not in the standalone box
- No automatic multicolor material system.
- No AMS 2 Pro unless you select a bundle or buy it separately.
- Filament, spare plates and abrasive-material upgrades should not be assumed beyond the live box-contents list.
Materials: capable, but not unrestricted
PLA, PETG, TPU, ABS, ASA, PVA and PET are listed as ideal or supported; PA and PC are listed as capable. The enclosure gives the P1S an advantage over an open-frame A1 for ABS and ASA, but it is not an actively heated industrial chamber. Ventilation and material-specific settings still matter.

Carbon-fiber and glass-fiber filaments are abrasive. The stock stainless-steel nozzle is not the right choice for prolonged use; plan on a compatible hardened nozzle and other required parts before printing those materials.
AMS and the real cost of multicolor printing
The P1S can use Bambu’s Automatic Material System, but $399 does not buy that capability. The AMS 2 Pro is listed at $359 in an official US store capture. P1-series installations may also require a switching adapter, cables, a buffer or AMS Hub and PTFE-related parts, depending on the configuration. For single-colour printing, AMS is unnecessary. Adding it can materially change the budget and may bring the total close to a newer printer.
Why this deal is compelling
- An enclosed CoreXY machine at a price close to many open-frame beginner printers.
- Automatic calibration and integrated software reduce setup work.
- 256 mm cubed is ample for most hobby projects and many functional parts.
- The enclosure is useful for ABS and ASA, while the camera, recovery features and remote monitoring add convenience.
- It leaves an upgrade path to AMS without requiring multicolor hardware on day one.
Reasons to skip it
- The P1S is an older platform than Bambu’s P2S and other newer models.
- Its screen and interface are less advanced than higher-end machines.
- The camera is for basic monitoring and time-lapse, not high-quality inspection.
- There is no actively heated chamber, so enclosure alone does not guarantee engineering-material performance.
- Bambu’s account, cloud and accessory ecosystem may not suit buyers who require open hardware or strictly local operation.
- The headline 500 mm/s figure should not be treated as a universal real-world print speed.

P1S or P2S?
Use the P1S as the value choice when the standalone price is genuinely $399. Choose the P2S if newer hardware and features justify paying more. A previously reported $549 P2S reference should not be treated as its current price without checking the live product page; prices and availability change.

Bottom line: buy, wait or choose another model?
Buy now if you want an enclosed printer and the live standalone P1S price is $399. Choose the A1 if you mainly print PLA or PETG and do not need an enclosure. Wait or choose the P2S if newer-platform features matter more than the P1S’s unusually low entry price, or if you specifically want a ready-made AMS bundle.
