Eligibility depends on the exact model plus a serial number, date code or manufacturing range. Find those identifiers, compare every character with the applicable notice, and stop using a matching unit until you have followed the stated remedy.
How to tell whether your Ryobi tool is recalled
- Locate the identification plate. Depending on the product, the model and serial or date code may be on the motor housing, underside data plate, interior housing or another label.
- Match the complete identifier. Some notices cover only particular serial ranges or date codes. A similar model, adjacent serial number or different suffix is not proof of inclusion.
- Stop using a matching tool immediately. Unplug corded tools, remove batteries and do not resume use while waiting for a response.
- Use the current manufacturer process. Ryobi’s recall workflow at https://www.ryobitools.com/recall asks for model and serial information. You can also use the contact instructions in the relevant U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) notice.
- Recheck remedy details. CPSC says recall data is updated weekly and remedy information can change daily, so confirm the current instructions before shipping, repairing or disposing of anything.
Never infer that an unlisted unit is included because it looks identical, and never assume a recalled unit is safe because it has worked without incident.

What the notices report about scope and incidents
The pressure-washer notice covers about 764,000 units in the United States and 16,000 in Canada. TTI reported 135 capacitor-overheating incidents, including 41 explosions and 32 injuries or fractures.

The mower notice covers about 217,500 U.S. units and 28,400 Canadian units. It records 97 overheating reports, including five fires and two minor burn injuries.

The hedge-trimmer notice covers about 113,000 units in the United States and 15,000 in Canada. TTI received 27 reports of unexpected blade activation, including 16 injury reports.
Earlier notices covered about 300,000 sheet sanders; approximately 578,000 P113 chargers in the United States and 49,000 in Canada; and about 121,000 RY42102 blowers in the United States, 1,900 in Canada and 1,100 in Mexico. Those figures describe the populations identified in the notices, not proof that every unit sold under the broader product name is defective.

Finding the identifying code on common affected products
Pressure washers
The model and serial information is on the motor-housing data plate. Because the notice uses separate serial ranges for different pressure-washer models, record the full model and serial string before checking.
Walk-behind mower
Look for the identification information on the interior green housing. Compare the entire serial range, not only the first letters or production year.

Hedge trimmer
The data plate is on the underside. Turn the tool off, remove its battery and inspect it without operating the cutting assembly.
Other products
For the sander, battery, charger, blower and circular saw, use the model label and the specified date or serial code. If a label is damaged or unreadable, do not guess; contact the recall support channel with photographs and any purchase information you still have.

Why remedies differ
A recall remedy is matched to the failure mechanism. A free replacement is specified for the sander, mower, hedge trimmer and blower; the battery and charger notices direct owners toward company-arranged repair or replacement steps; and the pressure-washer notice provides a capacitor repair kit with shipping and installation instructions. Do not substitute a generic part, attempt an unapproved repair or keep using the tool because a replacement is inconvenient.
For the pressure washer, CPSC’s notice says: “Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled pressure washers and visit https://www.ryobitools.com/recall to determine if their pressure washer is included in the recall and to receive a free repair kit, including shipping and installation instructions.” For the mower, the notice directs consumers to stop immediately, contact TTI for instructions to disable the mower and receive a free replacement 21-inch walk-behind mower.

Safe handling while you arrange service
- Disconnect power before checking labels: unplug corded tools and remove batteries.
- Keep recalled batteries and chargers away from combustible materials and do not place a suspect battery back on a charger.
- Do not test a mower, trimmer, blower, sander or saw to see whether the hazard occurs.
- Follow the notice’s packaging, shipping and disabling instructions; keep records of the submission and any tracking number.
- Ask the recall administrator what to do with a damaged, leaking or heat-affected unit before transporting it.
Bottom line for owners
Start with the label, not the product’s appearance. A precise model-and-code match is the deciding factor. When it matches, stop using the tool and use the manufacturer or CPSC instructions for that specific notice; the remedy may be a free repair kit, repair process or replacement product.
