Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Make a Halloween entrance with paper, crepe streamers, cardboard, fabric, a wreath, or a few lightweight accents. These 42 ideas range from friendly and autumnal to properly spooky; choose materials and attachments that suit your actual door, and keep the door, steps, and exit route clear.
Before you decorate: protect the door and keep the entrance usable
Start by checking the door’s finish and the project’s location. Paper and lightweight accents can work well on a removable backing, while exposed outdoor displays need materials and attachments suitable for their conditions. For any hook, clip, or adhesive, follow its package directions for compatible surfaces, surface preparation, weather conditions, placement, and weight limits. Compatibility and removal results are not universal.
- Keep the handle, peephole, threshold, steps, and route out unobstructed. CPSC advises removing obstacles from lawns, steps, and porches; NFPA and Texas Department of Insurance guidance also say to keep exits clear.
- Keep paper, fabric, dried foliage, and other combustible decorations away from open flames and heat. Battery-operated lights or glow sticks are safer decorative choices than candles. If you use a lit pumpkin, place it well away from anything that can burn, doorsteps, and walkways, and never leave a candle unattended.
- For decorative light strands, use products tested by a recognized laboratory. Discard strands with damaged sockets, frayed wires, or loose connections; do not overload extension cords. For outdoor decorations, use undamaged cords rated for outdoor use.
For more placement guidance, see the CPSC Halloween safety tips, the NFPA Halloween safety sheet, and the Texas Department of Insurance fire-safety guidance.
