Harbor Freight’s product pages show four chainsaws with substantial customer-review histories: two cordless or electric BAUER models and two PORTLAND options, including a gas saw. Their ratings reflect Harbor Freight customer reviews, not an independent head-to-head test. The ATLAS 80V 18-inch saw is also in the catalog, but its page showed no customer reviews when checked, so it cannot support a fifth “top rated” pick.

Which Harbor Freight chainsaw fits your work?
BAUER 20V 10-inch: trimming and light limbing
Harbor Freight describes this compact cordless saw for trimming, pruning, and limbing. Its 10-inch low-kickback bar and listed weight of 5.7 pounds make it the most compact option among these four. The saw is sold as a tool only: you need a compatible BAUER battery and charger, and the product page recommends a BAUER 3 Ah battery for best results. It also has an automatic chain oiler. See the BAUER 20V 10-inch chainsaw listing.

PORTLAND 9-amp 14-inch: a basic corded option
This corded electric model pairs a 9-amp motor with a 14-inch bar. Harbor Freight’s category description highlights its low-kickback design and automatic oiler. Choose it only if the work area has suitable access to power and you can keep the cord clear of the cutting path. See the PORTLAND 9-amp 14-inch chainsaw listing.
BAUER 14.5-amp 16-inch: corded power with a longer bar
The BAUER has a 14.5-amp motor and 16-inch low-kickback bar, plus a chain brake, tool-free chain tensioning, and automatic oiler. Harbor Freight says it is designed for tougher cuts; that is the manufacturer’s description, not an independently verified comparison. How to make the choice
- For pruning and smaller limbs: consider the BAUER 10-inch cordless model, but include the cost and availability of a compatible battery and charger in your decision.
- If you have reliable power access: compare the PORTLAND 14-inch and BAUER 16-inch corded saws by bar length and listed features, while planning how to manage the cord safely.
- If you need to work away from an outlet: weigh battery-system requirements against the gas PORTLAND’s 50:1 fuel requirement and California sales restriction.
- For any model: use the saw only for work within your ability and follow its manual and safety instructions. Ratings alone do not determine whether a saw is appropriate for a particular cut.
