Four celebrities in the available reporting have documented hands-on craft practices: William H. Macy and Skeet Ulrich work with wood, Nick Offerman is a woodworker, and Seth Rogen makes pottery and ceramic designs. The evidence supports describing these as practices—not automatically as full-time trades or professional credentials.
Which celebrities are woodworkers?
William H. Macy: woodturning and woodworking
A 2019 Woodcraft Magazine profile describes Macy taking up woodturning after seeing a demonstration while making Fargo. He bought a small lathe, later moving to a larger lathe in a woodworking shop above his garage. The profile also describes him turning bowls and working on projects around his property. “Woodturner” or “woodworking hobbyist” fits the evidence; it does not establish that woodworking is his profession.
Skeet Ulrich: furniture making
In a May 2018 Architectural Digest profile, Ulrich discusses woodworking and furniture making, and is shown working in his home shop. The coverage documents a serious craft practice alongside his acting, rather than establishing woodworking as his full-time trade.
Nick Offerman: woodworking and a shop
Offerman’s woodworking is documented in a Lee Valley Tools interview published in April 2020 and a Woodcraft Magazine profile published in 2016. The Woodcraft profile discusses Offerman Woodshop and his book Good Clean Fun: Misadventures in Sawdust at Offerman Woodshop. These sources support describing him as a woodworker; the fictional Ron Swanson is not evidence of the actor’s real-life practice.

Does Seth Rogen make pottery?
Yes. A 2022 Vogue profile discusses Rogen’s pottery practice and ceramic designs developed alongside his business. That reporting establishes hands-on pottery and design activity, but not formal professional ceramics credentials.
What counts as a celebrity craft practice?
Making things by hand can be a sustained part of someone’s life without being their primary occupation. These examples cover distinct activities—woodturning, furniture making, woodworking, and pottery—and the cited profiles provide evidence for each. A label such as “craftsman” can imply a trade or level of professional status that the available reporting does not always establish, so the more specific craft is the clearer description.
