The figures are increases in searches—not proof that the looks were widely installed or purchased—and they describe a snapshot from early 2025, not the leading trends of 2026.
What Houzz’s 2025 trend figures measure
Houzz compared searches by U.S. users from January through March 2025 with searches from the same months in 2024. Its 2025 U.S. Houzz Emerging Summer Trends Report and accompanying editorial on eight emerging design trends report year-over-year growth for specific search terms. That measures interest on Houzz, not the proportion of homes with a design, completed projects, product sales or the size of each term’s audience. Each percentage is relative to that search term’s own baseline, so the largest increase does not necessarily represent the most people.
The report was published May 20, 2025. Houzz had released newer trend research by October 2026, so the figures below are best read as a dated U.S. snapshot rather than a current ranking.
Eight design themes Houzz users searched more often
1. Expressive color and color drenching
Houzz searches for “color drenching” rose 325%. The technique uses one color across a room’s walls, trim, ceiling and sometimes furniture. Other color-related searches also increased: “cool color scheme” by 206%, “warm color scheme” by 140%, monochromatic schemes by 102% and analogous schemes by 84%. A monochromatic palette varies shades or tints of one hue; analogous colors sit next to one another on the color wheel. For a renovation, paint is the most direct way to explore the look, while the choice of sheen and how far to carry the color depend on the room and its existing finishes.

2. Wood-rich spaces
Searches for “living rooms with light hardwood floors” climbed 400%, the largest illustrative increase in the report. Searches for white oak kitchen cabinets rose 46%, white oak bathroom vanities 20%, wood-paneled offices 43% and woven wood shades 33%. Together, these searches suggest interest in natural grain, warmth and texture across floors, cabinetry, window treatments and other surfaces. They do not establish how often homeowners installed these materials.
3. Vintage style
Searches for vintage bathroom vanities increased 313%; searches for vintage living rooms rose 104%, vintage kitchens 71%, and china cabinets and hutches 181%. Houzz’s vintage-vanity example adapts an antique chest with plumbing, a faucet, countertop and backsplash. That is a conversion project, not a ready-to-install bathroom fixture: the furniture needs suitable modifications and plumbing installation, and the finished arrangement must work in the room.

4. Warm-metal accents
Houzz users searched more often for copper pendant lighting (+250%), gold bathroom vanity lights (+60%), gold lamps (+42%) and brushed-gold bathroom faucets (+41%). Searches for copper kitchen sinks rose 24%, and copper range hoods 21%. These finishes can add a warm accent alongside wood or other materials. Choose fixtures and finishes to suit the room and coordinate with its existing materials rather than assuming every metal will work in every palette.
5. French country
Searches for French country chandeliers rose 287%, floral wallpaper 66%, French country bathrooms 54% and modern French country kitchens 45%. Houzz’s examples combine elements such as weathered wood, light-blue vanities and botanical-print window treatments. The search figures capture interest in those terms; the style itself can be interpreted through selected details rather than treated as a single required package.

6. Beverage stations
Searches for dedicated whiskey bars grew 82%; beverage and wine fridges 46%; beverage bars 39%; small wet bars 36%; and coffee bars 19%. A beverage fridge and storage can make a station functional, but its size and location should reflect available space and how the household will use it. A dedicated station may suit an entertaining area, while a smaller coffee setup may need less room.
7. Recreation and “fun zones”
Houzz reported higher search activity for poker tables (+77%), putting greens (+70%), Lego rooms (+54%), billiard rooms (+39%), video-game rooms (+34%) and game tables (+20%). These ideas have very different space and equipment requirements. A game table or gaming setup is not equivalent to a putting green or billiard room in scope, so the search increases should not be read as evidence that each option is equally practical for a typical home.

8. Low-water landscaping
Searches for succulent gardens increased 205%; Mediterranean gardens 94%; Mediterranean landscapes 79%; and decomposed-granite landscaping 37%. These terms point to interest in water-conscious landscape inspiration. The water use of an installed landscape depends on local climate, plant selection, irrigation and site design; the search figures do not show that a particular installation will save a set amount of water.

These eight themes span different kinds of decisions, so they are not competing product choices. Before adopting one, consider the setting, the visual change, the intended function and the work involved.

- Plan around use and fit: storage, circulation, available space, existing materials and site conditions determine whether an idea suits the home.
- Use search growth as inspiration, not a forecast: Houzz’s percentages show rising searches for particular phrases in early 2025, not adoption rates or guaranteed future popularity.
What the figures do—and do not—say about renovation
Houzz’s separate 2025 U.S. Houzz & Home Renovation Trends survey covered 21,889 Houzz users, including 10,981 renovating U.S. homeowners. It reported that 54% of homeowners undertook renovation projects in 2024, compared with 56% in 2023; 24% upgraded bathrooms and 24% upgraded kitchens in 2024. Those are survey findings about renovation activity, separate from the search data behind the eight trends.
Likewise, the 2025 U.S. Houzz Bathroom Trends Study surveyed 1,737 U.S. homeowners on Houzz. It reported that 68% considered special needs in bathroom projects, 36% included wellness-oriented features, 16% of renovated bathrooms were wet rooms, and the national median bathroom spend was $13,000 in 2024. These bathroom-specific survey results provide context for renovation decisions; they are not evidence that vintage vanities or any other search trend was widely adopted.
