What does the Gordon 20-in-1 include?
New Atlas reported on August 3, 2024, that Harbor Freight’s Gordon 20-in-1 has a stainless-steel frame and blade and includes a 2.86-inch blade, serrated knife, saw, scissors, bit drivers and screwdriver, wire cutter and stripper, and regular pliers that can also be used as needle-nose pliers. Other listed implements are wood and diamond-coated files, a metal file, crimper, gut hook, window breaker, 8-inch ruler, can opener and bottle opener. A pouch and belt clip are included in the reported package.

New Atlas gives dimensions of 4.06 × 1.53 × 0.91 inches and a shipping weight of 10.5 ounces, which includes packaging, pouch and belt clip. Those are specifications reported by the publication, not independent measurements or a performance test. The combination can cover small tasks such as tightening a compatible screw, snipping a wire, cutting light material or opening a package. Whether it can handle a particular fix depends on the exact implement, access and fastener size required. A multitool is a convenient backup for limited adjustments, not a substitute for the correctly sized hand tool or repair equipment when the job demands it.

Why “20-in-1” is not a useful comparison by itself
The label describes no standard inventory. Northern Tool’s listing for a 20-in-1 pocket multitool enumerates items such as a knife, saw, scissors, screwdrivers and opener, but says the product is no longer available. A GOJAWAY manual mirror, by contrast, describes a multi-piece survival kit with shovel and axe heads, extension bars and accessories. How to choose a multitool for likely fixes
- Name the repair first. Identify the fastener, material or component you expect to deal with; “emergency fix” is too broad to guide a tool choice.
- Match the exact implement and size. Check whether the tool has the required driver, hex size, wrench or cutter. For a bike, determine whether the likely task needs a chain tool or spoke wrench.
- Check carry specifications carefully. Compare folded or closed dimensions and weight, and note whether the stated weight includes a pouch, clip or packaging. For example, New Atlas’s Gordon figure is a shipping weight including packaging, whereas IRWIN lists the ITL-05 at 125 g with a pouch.
- Verify the exact product before buying. A shared “20-in-1” label is not enough to confirm a listing is the model and inventory you intend to carry. Check the seller’s current listing and confirm the model name and included implements.
- Keep a proper tool available for demanding work. A compact multitool’s convenience does not establish that its implements can safely or effectively complete a repair that calls for dedicated equipment.
