The clearest manufacturer documentation currently comes from SwitchBot, Roborock, ECOVACS, and Dreame. Some vacuums connect directly to Matter over Wi‐Fi, some require a manufacturer bridge, and others have only been announced or promised through a future firmware update.
This guide distinguishes those categories so you can tell the difference between native Matter, Matter over Bridge, and ordinary Alexa, Google Home, or Siri support.

|---|---|---|---|---|
| SwitchBot | S10 | Confirmed; firmware-dependent | Native Wi‐Fi; bridge options also documented | Platform-specific controls, firmware, app, and region |
| SwitchBot | S20 | Confirmed; firmware-dependent | Native Wi‐Fi and/or bridge | Required firmware and platform app versions |
| SwitchBot | K10+ Pro Combo | Listed by SwitchBot | Native Wi‐Fi and bridge categories | Exact retail region and firmware |
| SwitchBot | K11+ | Listed; Matter 1.4 positioning documented | Native Wi‐Fi and bridge categories | Regional availability and controls |
| SwitchBot | S1 and S1 Plus | Bridge-based listing | SwitchBot Matter hub required | Compatible hub and bridge behavior |
| Roborock | S8 MaxV Ultra | Official Matter claim; described by Roborock as its first Matter-certified robot vacuum | Verify exact firmware and region | Current Matter option in the Roborock app |
| Roborock | Saros 10R | Official Matter claim | Verify setup availability | Exact SKU, region, and firmware |
| Roborock | Qrevo Edge series | Official Matter claim | Firmware-dependent | Exact model and current app support |
| Roborock | Qrevo CurvX series | Advertised; some pages include an OTA qualification | Firmware-dependent | Exact regional product page and firmware |
| Roborock | Saros Z70 | Upcoming OTA, not confirmed universally live | Not confirmed as currently available everywhere | Do not treat as working until the update reaches your unit |
| ECOVACS | DEEBOT X2 and X2 Combo | Announced for Matter 1.4 | Phased firmware rollout | ECOVACS Home app and regional model number |
| ECOVACS | DEEBOT T50 and T50 Max | Announced for Matter 1.4 | Phased firmware rollout | Whether your unit has received the update |

| Dreame | X60 Ultra | Official Matter claim | App-generated Matter setup | Local model and Dreamehome firmware |
SwitchBot’s compatibility table is unusually explicit about which devices use native Matter over Wi‐Fi and which use Matter over Bridge. Roborock, ECOVACS, and Dreame require more careful model-by-model checking.
#1 Best Overall
- 90-Day Dust Storage: This robotic vacuum’s self-emptying station is smaller than an A4 sheet yet holds a 4L dust bag, holds up to 90 days of dust, which is a longer duration compared to many other models. reduces the frequency of manual emptying, enhancing convenience.
- 6000Pa Powerful Suction: With upgraded 6000Pa suction and an advanced tangle-resistant roller brush, the K11+ robot vacuum easily lifts pet hair, dirt, and debris from carpets and hard floors, delivering stronger performance than typical 4000Pa models.
- Anti-Tangle Twin Side Brush: The K11+ robot vacuum features a unique Anti-Tangle Twin Side Brush that reaches deep into corners and edges, effectively lifting pet hair and debris from hard-to-reach areas without tangling.
- Smart Laser Navigation and Obstacle Avoidance: The K11+ robot vacuum with self-emptying uses advanced LDS LiDAR to map your home and plan precise cleaning routes. With PSD side sensors, it navigates smoothly around table and chair legs, while drop sensors, 1.7 cm threshold climbing, and no-go zones help it clean safely in complex, cluttered spaces with no manual prep needed.
- Full Smart Home Compatibility: Powered by Matter for seamless native control. Works with Alexa & Google Home, with support for Apple Home and Home Assistant — no extra hub required.
SwitchBot: the clearest native-versus-bridge documentation
SwitchBot currently provides the most detailed public compatibility matrix for robot vacuums. Its listed Matter-capable models include the S1, S1 Plus, K10+, Floor Cleaning Robot S10, Floor Cleaning Robot S20, K10+ Pro, K10+ Pro Combo, and K11+.
Not every listing means the same thing. Some models connect to Matter directly over Wi‐Fi. Others remain connected to the SwitchBot ecosystem and are exposed to Matter through a compatible hub.
S10 and S20 requirements
SwitchBot’s detailed support documentation specifies:
- S10 firmware 1.1.046 or newer.
- S20 firmware 1.1.059 or newer.
- SwitchBot app 9.16 or newer.
- S10 standalone Matter support beginning with firmware 1.0.984.
- Apple Home requires iOS 18.5 or newer.
- Home Assistant requires 2025.7.2 or newer.
SwitchBot documents actions such as starting full-house cleaning, pausing, recharging, changing cleaning modes, adjusting suction, and changing mopping-water settings. Some platforms also support specific-room cleaning. Those controls are not identical across Apple Home, Google Home, SmartThings, and Home Assistant.
See the SwitchBot S10 and S20 Matter requirements and control table before buying. SwitchBot has also said that the S20 and K11+ were among the first robot vacuums to support native Apple Home integration through Matter 1.4; that is a manufacturer statement, not an independent ranking of every Matter product.
Roborock: official Matter claims, but verify the exact unit
Roborock’s official pages identify Matter support for the S8 MaxV Ultra, Saros 10R, Qrevo Edge series, and Qrevo CurvX series. Roborock describes the S8 MaxV Ultra as its first Matter-certified robot vacuum. The Saros 10R page and Qrevo Edge page also advertise Matter support.
For the Qrevo CurvX, some regional product pages qualify Matter availability with an OTA update. That means the product-page claim should not be treated as proof that every retail unit can be paired immediately.
Saros Z70 is not a confirmed-now recommendation
The Saros Z70 page says Matter will be available through an upcoming OTA update. Unless Roborock has documented that update for your region and firmware, classify the Z70 as future or promised support, not a Matter vacuum that works today.
Roborock does not appear to provide one simple public consumer list covering every Matter-enabled SKU and firmware version. Check the exact US or regional product page, then look for a Matter setup option in the Roborock app before assuming support.
ECOVACS DEEBOT: announced support with a phased rollout
ECOVACS announced Matter 1.4 support for a global DEEBOT lineup comprising the X2, X2 Combo, T50, T50 Max, and X8. The company says updates will roll out in phases.
That announcement is important, but it does not prove that every regional variant or every retail unit had received the update by August 16, 2026. Treat these as announced for Matter support until the ECOVACS Home app confirms the firmware on your specific vacuum.

Check the ECOVACS Matter announcement, the model number on the box, and the update status in ECOVACS Home. Do not rely on an older ECOVACS explanation that Matter platforms had not yet integrated robot vacuums; that reflected an earlier stage of Matter support and is no longer a current summary of the market.
Dreame: X60 Ultra is the clearly documented model
Dreame’s current X60 Ultra product page advertises Matter support and compatibility with major smart-home platforms.
Dreame also provides an app-based setup process:
- Install or update the Dreamehome app.
- Bind the vacuum to Dreamehome and complete its normal setup.
- Open the app’s Matter configuration area.
- Scan the Matter QR code shown by the app, or use nearby-device/Bluetooth discovery if offered.
- Add the vacuum to the chosen Matter ecosystem.
- Finish commissioning in the platform’s app.
Dreame emphasizes that Matter certification is confirmed on a per-model basis. Do not extend the X60 Ultra claim automatically to every Dreame, MOVA, L10, or X-series vacuum. The Dreame Matter overview and setup instructions are the relevant checks.
Which smart-home platforms work with Matter vacuums?
Matter support does not mean that every platform exposes the same controls. The major ecosystems have different controller requirements and feature implementations.
Apple Home
Native Matter is especially valuable for Apple Home users because it gives the vacuum a standardized Home accessory rather than relying on Siri Shortcuts or an unofficial workaround. SwitchBot’s S10 and S20 documentation includes explicit Apple Home requirements, and the S10 documentation describes room-cleaning and cleaning-mode controls.
Apple Home may still require a compatible home hub depending on the setup and desired remote or automated control. Verify current Apple requirements for your iOS and HomePod or Apple TV configuration.
Google Home
Google Home can commission and control compatible Matter devices, but the controls shown for a robot vacuum may differ from Apple Home. A compatible Google Home controller may be required for commissioning or remote operation.
Amazon Alexa
Amazon’s current Matter documentation lists robotic vacuums among supported Matter device categories. However, the compatible Echo or eero controller and the available Matter feature set still matter. “Works with Alexa” by itself is not proof of Matter: many vacuums use the manufacturer’s cloud integration instead.
Use Amazon’s Matter documentation to check controller and device requirements.
Samsung SmartThings
Some Matter vacuums can be added to SmartThings, but SmartThings hub and app requirements apply. Supported actions may be narrower than the controls in the manufacturer’s app.
Home Assistant
Home Assistant can commission Matter devices, making it attractive to technical users who want local automations or a mixed-brand system. The Matter device may expose fewer controls than the manufacturer’s integration, and commissioning can require more troubleshooting. For SwitchBot, check the documented Home Assistant version requirement before setup.
Native Matter versus Matter over Bridge
| Approach | How it works | Advantages | Trade-offs |
|---|---|---|---|
| Native Matter over Wi‐Fi | The vacuum itself joins the Matter network. | No dedicated brand bridge for that vacuum; simpler mixed-brand setup. | Still requires a compatible Matter controller; features remain implementation-dependent. |
| Matter over Bridge | The vacuum stays connected to the manufacturer’s system while a hub exposes it to Matter. | Can add older or non-native devices; useful if you already own the ecosystem. | Requires another powered device, adds a failure point, and may expose fewer controls. |
SwitchBot lists the Hub Mini Matter Enabled, Hub 2, Hub 3, and AI Hub as compatible bridge devices. A bridge listing is not the same as native Matter support. If your chosen model requires a bridge, the vacuum remains dependent on the manufacturer’s hub and software.

Matter is an interoperability layer, not a replacement for the robot’s full app. Depending on the model and platform, Matter may expose:
- Start or stop cleaning.
- Pause cleaning.
- Return to the dock or recharge.
- Full-home cleaning.
- Cleaning mode.
- Suction level.
- Mopping settings.
- Room or area cleaning.
- Battery or operating status.
Do not assume Matter provides map editing, no-go zones, detailed schedules, obstacle-recognition settings, camera features, consumable tracking, docking-station maintenance, or advanced room routines. Those functions may remain exclusively in the manufacturer’s app.
A successful Matter pairing followed by a short list of controls is not necessarily a faulty vacuum. It may simply reflect the platform’s current feature scope.
How to verify a vacuum before buying
- Search the exact model number on the manufacturer’s support site.
- Look specifically for the word Matter, not only Alexa, Google Assistant, Apple Watch, or Siri Shortcuts.
- Check whether the wording says available now, rolling out, or coming through a future OTA update.
- Confirm the regional version. US, EU, China, and international models may differ.
- Check required vacuum firmware and manufacturer app versions.
- Confirm whether native Matter or a bridge is required.
- Confirm that your target platform supports robot-vacuum Matter devices.
- Check which commands that platform actually exposes.
- Read current support notes for pairing limitations.
- Keep the manufacturer’s app installed even after Matter pairing.
This process matters because a product page can get ahead of the support app, a family name can hide incompatible regional SKUs, and a manufacturer announcement may cover only selected models.

Generic Matter setup and recovery
Initial setup
- Update the vacuum’s firmware.
- Update the manufacturer’s app.
- Add and configure the robot in its original app first.
- Ensure the phone, vacuum, and Matter controller are on the required home network.
- Open the manufacturer’s Matter setup screen.
- Scan the Matter QR code or enter the numeric setup code.
- Choose the target ecosystem.
- Wait for the vacuum to appear as a robotic-vacuum device.
- Test start, pause, and return-to-dock commands.
- Test room cleaning separately rather than assuming it is supported.
If pairing fails
- Reopen the Matter setup page and generate a new code if the first one expired.
- Confirm that the vacuum is online in the manufacturer’s app.
- Update the firmware and app again.
- Restart both the vacuum and Matter controller.
- Confirm that the controller is signed into the correct home and account.
- Remove a failed or half-completed pairing before trying again.
- If the model uses Matter over Bridge, verify that the compatible hub is online.
- If the vacuum appears but has few controls, treat that first as a platform limitation rather than a pairing failure.
Choosing by ecosystem and support certainty
For Apple Home households
Prioritize native Matter models with explicit Apple Home documentation. SwitchBot S10 and S20 have unusually detailed requirements and control information. Roborock’s S8 MaxV Ultra and Saros 10R are also strong candidates based on official Matter claims, but verify the exact firmware and regional availability before purchase.
For mixed-brand homes
Choose native Matter where possible, with a current firmware path, documented support for your target platforms, and a capable manufacturer app as a fallback. SwitchBot has the clearest published cross-platform matrix in the available documentation.
For advanced cleaning performance
Do not make Matter the deciding factor if your priorities are navigation, obstacle avoidance, dock maintenance, noise, consumable cost, repair support, or cleaning performance. A high-end vacuum may expose only basic commands through Matter while retaining its best features in the proprietary app.
What Matter does not guarantee
- Full map access or map editing.
- Room-level cleaning on every platform.
- Every suction or mopping mode.
- Camera access.
- Dock controls or maintenance functions.
- Identical behavior in Apple Home, Google Home, Alexa, SmartThings, and Home Assistant.
- Cloud-free operation for every manufacturer feature.
- Continued support after the manufacturer stops updating the product.
Also remember that ordinary Alexa, Google Home, Siri Shortcuts, Apple Watch, and cloud-app support are not automatically Matter. Ask whether the exact model is commissioned using Matter, whether it is native or bridged, and which controls are standardized.
Recommended Free Tools
Bottom line
The safest Matter choices are model-specific, not brand-wide. SwitchBot currently offers the clearest documentation, especially for the S10 and S20 and for distinguishing native Matter from Matter over Bridge. Roborock has official Matter positioning on selected newer models, but exact firmware and regional availability need checking. ECOVACS has announced Matter 1.4 support for selected DEEBOTs through a phased rollout. Dreame’s X60 Ultra is the clearly documented model, not proof that every Dreame vacuum supports Matter.
Buy the vacuum for its cleaning and maintenance capabilities first, then confirm Matter status for the exact SKU, region, firmware, app, platform, and required hub before placing the order.
