It is a 100-inch 4K model launched in China in late 2023, designed to sit close to the wall, display artwork when not in use, and function as a large décor feature rather than a conventional television. However, it should be treated as a China-market product—not a straightforward international buy—and its flush installation creates significant construction and delivery requirements.
What is the Skyworth 100A7D?
The 100A7D belongs to Skyworth’s A7D “Wallpaper TV” family. Its design combines a very large screen, a paper-like display surface, near-wall mounting, and an integrated art gallery containing more than 200 paintings, according to launch coverage. Skyworth describes the wider A7D family as having ultra-thin, seamless wall mounting and a multi-style art-screen function (Skyworth).

The “Wallpaper TV” name is best understood as a design concept. It does not establish that the panel is flexible, rollable, OLED, or literally made from wallpaper. The intended effect comes from three features:

- Visual integration: the television is designed to sit close to the wall.
- Art mode: it can display paintings or other images when you are not watching video.
- Wall-covering design language: the screen is intended to resemble a large wall installation or mural.
It is similar in concept to Samsung’s The Frame, but it is not simply a giant version of that product. The televisions differ in screen technology, frame treatment, software, market availability, and installation approach. The available reports also do not establish that the 100A7D includes a decorative physical bezel comparable to The Frame.

Skyworth and launch reports describe the 100A7D with the following specifications. Several are manufacturer or launch-listing claims rather than independently measured results.

The 288Hz claim needs clarification
The reported “up to 288Hz” figure sounds attractive to gamers, but it should not automatically be read as native 4K at 288Hz. The available launch material does not confirm:
- whether the panel itself is natively 288Hz;
- which resolutions support that refresh rate;
- whether it applies only to a gaming or high-refresh mode;
- whether frame insertion, interpolation, or another technology is involved;
- which HDMI input supports the highest rate; or
- whether the HDMI bandwidth is sufficient for 4K at 288Hz.
Before specifying the television for a gaming room, ask the seller for the supported resolution and refresh-rate table, HDMI bandwidth, VRR and ALLM support, input lag, and the exact port required. HDMI 2.1 branding alone does not prove that every gaming feature works at every advertised refresh rate.
Will it really look like wall art?
The result will depend as much on the room and installation as on the television. A correctly aligned, close-to-wall installation with concealed cables can make the screen feel more like a mural. Visible wiring, a protruding electronics box, an external soundbar, or a large gap behind the chassis can undermine that effect.

A 100-inch screen is also not visually discreet. Using the 16:9 aspect ratio, its active image is approximately 87.2 inches wide by 49 inches high, calculated from the diagonal measurement. That is nearly 7 feet across before accounting for the bezel or installation clearance. Even in art mode, it will dominate a wall rather than disappear into it.
Skyworth’s launch material describes the screen as paper-like and claims “no reflection” or “zero glare.” Those descriptions should be treated as claims, not proof of universal reflection-free performance. Windows opposite the screen, ceiling lights, glossy furniture, pale walls, viewing angle, and the screen coating will all affect the result. No display is reflection-proof in every room.

Construction and installation considerations
Installing a 100-inch flush-mounted television is a construction and logistics project, not simply a larger version of hanging a standard TV. Plan the wall before ordering the set.
1. Check the wall structure
Confirm whether the wall is masonry, concrete, timber stud, metal stud, or another construction. The mount must be fixed to suitable structural points using hardware rated for the television’s actual weight. Plasterboard or drywall alone should not be assumed to carry the load.
2. Confirm the mount and dimensions
Ask whether the correct mount is included, what VESA pattern is used, how much clearance is required, and whether the manufacturer specifies a minimum wall flatness or alignment tolerance. A screen nearly seven feet wide makes small errors visible.

3. Plan power and signal routes
Decide where power, Ethernet, aerial or cable connections, games consoles, and audio equipment will connect. If cables are to be concealed inside the wall, check local electrical rules and use appropriate in-wall-rated cable. Do not close the wall until all dimensions and connector locations have been confirmed from the current installation manual.
4. Preserve ventilation and service access
A flush appearance must not block ventilation openings. Leave the service access required by Skyworth and consider how the television could be removed if the panel, power supply, or main board fails. A perfectly concealed installation can become expensive to repair if no removal route is planned.
5. Arrange professional handling
A 100-inch panel is fragile and difficult to manoeuvre through doors, halls, lifts, and staircases. Measure the entire delivery route, including packaging, and confirm whether the freight service delivers to the room or only to the property entrance. Also establish who is responsible for damage during lifting and installation, and whether the warranty covers panel damage caused during mounting.
Audio and connections
The reported audio system is a 2.1.2 Skyworth system developed with Harman Kardon, with 11 sound-producing units, a claimed 50–20,000Hz frequency response, 210W peak output, and claimed distortion below 1 percent. The Harman Kardon association does not by itself demonstrate that the built-in audio will match a separate premium soundbar or AV receiver, and peak output is not the same as continuous power.
IT Home lists the following connections:
- 2 × HDMI 2.1
- 2 × HDMI 2.0
- 1 × USB-A 3.0
- 1 × USB-A 2.0
- 1 × AV input
- 1 × RF input
- 1 × digital audio output
- 1 × RJ45 Ethernet port
There is a discrepancy in the launch reports: IT Home lists a coaxial digital audio output, while Gizmochina reports an optical output. Confirm the exact port layout from the seller’s current specification sheet before purchase. Also verify eARC, Dolby format support, HDMI bandwidth, 4K/120 support, VRR, ALLM, HDCP version, and which HDMI port supports each feature.

Software and international-use risks
Reported smart-TV hardware includes Coocaa OS 9.2, a quad-core processor, 4GB of RAM, 128GB of storage, and far-field voice control. Gizmochina describes the platform as a customised Android TV-based system, but that does not prove access to Google Play, Google TV features, or Western streaming applications.
International buyers should obtain written answers to these questions before paying:
- Is the interface available in the required language?
- Are Netflix, Disney+, Prime Video, YouTube, and other desired services supported?
- Is the app store region-locked?
- Will firmware updates work outside China?
- Does voice control support the buyer’s language?
- Does the tuner support local broadcast standards?
- Will the remote work correctly with local services?
- Is local warranty and technician support available?
- What voltage, plug, and power requirements apply?
The available launch reports do not establish these international-use details. Importing one may therefore create software, language, tuner, power, warranty, customs, and servicing problems even if the television operates correctly as hardware.

The 100A7D should therefore be treated as a China-market television unless a seller can independently verify lawful local distribution, compatible voltage and tuner standards, warranty coverage, replacement parts, and professional installation.

More practical alternatives
Skyworth C1 Canvas Art TV
The C1 Canvas Art TV is a current North American Skyworth option with a 4K QLED+ display, Google TV, and art-TV positioning. It is much smaller and less ambitious than the 100A7D, but it is a more practical choice for a buyer who wants a supported regional product.
Skyworth CE1 Canvas Elite Art TV
The CE1 Canvas Elite Art TV uses QD-Mini LED and offers a more premium art-TV direction in Skyworth’s North American range. It is not a 100-inch China-market Wallpaper TV, and availability should be checked carefully because store status can change.
Samsung The Frame
Samsung’s The Frame remains the better-known benchmark for art mode, decorative frame options, and a mature international retail ecosystem. It is not a direct size-for-size or specification match for the 100A7D, but it is the more established option for buyers prioritising décor integration and local support.

A conventional large Mini-LED TV may be preferable when the priorities are measured HDR performance, gaming support, bright-room viewing, local warranty service, and easier replacement. The trade-off is that it will generally look more like a television when idle and require more deliberate décor treatment.
Who should consider the 100A7D?
It may suit a buyer who wants the largest possible art-oriented television, has a suitable uninterrupted wall, can arrange professional installation, and lives in—or can legally import into—a market where the television’s software, voltage, tuner, and warranty arrangements are understood.
It is a poor fit for anyone who needs a straightforward local purchase, guaranteed access to familiar streaming services, a local service network, or independently measured picture and gaming performance. It is also unsuitable for a property where delivery access, wall reinforcement, cable routing, or service removal has not been planned.
Verdict
The Skyworth 100A7D is a genuine and unusual product: a 100-inch 4K television designed to function as a wall-scale art display. Its paper-like surface, art gallery, claimed high brightness, integrated audio, and flush-mounting concept make it interesting for a design-led room.
But the most important fact for most buyers is availability. The historical 17,999-yuan launch price cannot be used as a current buying recommendation, and the lack of a current North American listing leaves major questions about warranty, software, tuning, installation, and support. Treat it as a compelling China-market design experiment—not as an easy international alternative to The Frame or a standard 100-inch TV.
