Ninja Foodi PossibleCooker Review: How It Compares With a Slow Cooker

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Yes—the Ninja Foodi PossibleCooker is substantially more capable than a basic slow cooker. Depending on the regional model, it can sear and sauté in its own pot, steam, braise, bake, prove dough, cook rice, make pasta and hold food warm. The important qualification is that “PossibleCooker” covers different model families: an MC1001 is not programmed or sized exactly like an MC1101. Check the model number, capacity and included accessories before buying.

What makes the PossibleCooker more than a slow cooker?

A conventional slow cooker generally cooks at low heat for long periods. PossibleCooker models add higher-heat and specialized programs, allowing one appliance to replace several pieces of countertop equipment for many households.

As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.

  • Direct-pot sear and sauté: Brown meat or soften aromatics in the cooking pot, then continue with the recipe without transferring ingredients to a frying pan.
  • Slow cook and braise: Suitable for the low-and-slow meals associated with a traditional slow cooker, with braising available on listed models.
  • Steam: Use the supplied rack where included to steam food above water.
  • Rice, pasta and porridge: These programs are emphasized on MC1101 variants rather than being universal across the range.
  • Bake and prove: MC1001-family descriptions include bake and prove functions, which are not listed in the Australian MC1101 program set.
  • Keep warm: Hold cooked food at serving temperature after a program ends.

Ninja’s US description for the MC1001 Pro says it “REPLACES 14 COOKING TOOLS & APPLIANCES.” That is a marketing description of the appliance’s functions, not a promise that every owner can dispense with 14 separate tools.

Model differences: MC1001 versus MC1101

Regional naming is the biggest buying trap. Capacity, wattage, programs and accessories vary by market, and the model suffix matters.

Model or family Capacity and published figures Functions described by the manufacturer or reviewer What to verify
MC1001 Pro (US) 8.5 qt, according to SharkNinja’s US product information Direct-pot sear/sauté, slow cook, steam, braise, bake, prove and keep warm Exact voltage, included rack and accessories on the US retailer listing
MC1001UK Up to eight portions; UK product page lists up to 1,200W Eight functions are listed by Ninja Kitchen UK, including slow cook, steam, sear/sauté, braise, bake, prove and keep warm UK plug, warranty and the precise function list for the retailer’s stock
MC1101 (Australia and related variants) 6L pot; manufacturer examples are four cups of rice, 450g pasta or a 3.2kg roast Slow cook, braise, sear/sauté, steam, keep warm, white rice, brown rice, quinoa, oats and pasta Whether the local version is 6L or another listed capacity, and which rack and measuring tools are supplied
MC1101UK reviewed by TechRadar 6L; 1,400W rated power in the December 26, 2025 review Eight modes; glass lid, steam rack, rice cup and rice spoon were included in the reviewed package Current retail bundle and price, since the review configuration may change

A 6L pot is often described as roughly 6.5 quarts, but do not use that approximation to identify a model. The printed model code and local specification page are more reliable than a marketplace title.

Can it sear meat in the same pot?

Yes, sear/sauté is a published function on the MC1001 and MC1101 families described above. The practical benefit is a one-pot workflow: preheat the pot, brown the meat in batches if necessary, soften onions or other aromatics, then add the remaining ingredients and select slow cook or braise.

Capacity still matters. A large roast or a crowded batch can brown poorly because food releases moisture faster than the pot can evaporate it. Leave room around pieces and work in batches when the recipe calls for a proper crust. The searing capability does not turn the PossibleCooker into a pressure cooker or guarantee the same high-heat performance as a dedicated skillet.

  • PERFECT FOR ENTERTAINING: 8.5-quart cooking capacity allows you to make chili for up to 20 people, 9 lbs of spaghetti and meatballs, or enough pulled pork for 30 sliders

Can it cook rice and pasta?

MC1101 specifications explicitly include white rice, brown rice and pasta, with quinoa and oats also listed on the Australian page. The same page gives a practical limit of four cups of rice and 450g of pasta. Those figures are model-specific guidance, not universal limits for every PossibleCooker.

Rice and pasta programs are therefore a strong reason to choose an MC1101-style model. MC1001 descriptions instead emphasize slow cooking, braising, baking and proving; do not assume that an MC1001 has the MC1101 rice or pasta presets simply because both are sold as PossibleCookers.

How much food can it handle?

The family-sized options are a major advantage, but compare usable recipe capacity rather than pot volume alone.

  • MC1101 regional versions are listed at 6L, with manufacturer examples including a 3.2kg roast.
  • Ninja’s UK MC1001 page describes capacity for up to eight portions.

Portion counts depend on the recipe and the amount of headroom required for simmering or steaming. A full pot is not automatically suitable for every program, so follow the fill guidance in the manual for your exact model.

What comes in the box?

Accessories vary by region and bundle. TechRadar’s MC1101UK review identified a glass lid, steam rack, rice cup and rice spoon. The MC1101 concept relies on a rack for steaming, while rice measurements are meaningful only when used with the supplied cup and the instructions for that model. Confirm the retailer’s current contents before treating an accessory as included.

Countertop, power and ownership considerations

Footprint and storage

One PossibleCooker can consolidate a slow cooker, steamer, rice cooker and sauté pan, which is useful when cabinet space is limited. Measure the appliance’s footprint and the clearance needed to lift the lid before committing to a permanent countertop position.

Power and electrical compatibility

Published ratings differ: the UK MC1001 page lists up to 1,200W, while TechRadar recorded 1,400W for the MC1101UK it reviewed. Wattage is not interchangeable between regions. Use a model intended for your country’s voltage and plug system rather than relying on an adapter.

Price and availability

TechRadar reported a £119.99 UK retail price for the MC1101UK on December 26, 2025. That was the price at review time, not a current guarantee; retailer pricing, stock and bundles change.

What it cannot do

The PossibleCooker is not a pressure cooker. It will not provide pressure-cooking speed or pressure-based tenderizing. If fast beans, rapid stews or pressure-cooked grains are your priority, compare pressure-cooker multicookers instead of assuming the PossibleCooker offers that mode.

Ninja Foodi PossibleCooker PRO Plus with 11-in-1 Smart Cook System, Thermal Surround Technology, Powerful 1400-Watt Base, Oven safe up to 500º F - White (Renewed)
  • 11-IN-1 FUNCTIONS: Slow Cook, Sear/Sauté, Bake, Braise, Proof, Sous Vide, Steam, Rice, Pasta, Oats, And Keep Warm. Replaces 17 kitchen tools and appliances for endless possibilities.

It also should not be judged as one uniform product line. A function shown in an MC1101 listing may be absent from an MC1001, and vice versa. Regional warranty terms, manuals and replacement parts follow the exact model and market.

Who should buy one?

Good fit

  • Families wanting a large pot for stews, braises or roasts.
  • Small kitchens that need slow cooking plus steaming, searing or rice preparation.
  • Cooks who prefer browning ingredients in the same vessel.
  • MC1101 buyers who regularly make rice, pasta, quinoa or oats.
  • MC1001 buyers who value bake or prove functions alongside slow cooking.

Look elsewhere if

  • You specifically need pressure cooking.
  • You already own separate appliances and will use only the slow-cook function.
  • Your kitchen cannot accommodate the pot and lid clearance.
  • You cannot confirm the local model’s voltage, warranty or accessory bundle.

Buying checklist

  1. Read the model code on the box or product page: MC1001, MC1001UK and MC1101 are not interchangeable names.
  2. Compare pot capacity with your normal batch size: 8.5 qt for the US MC1001 Pro versus 6L examples for MC1101 variants.
  3. Match the function list to your cooking: rice and pasta favor MC1101; bake and prove are highlighted for MC1001-family models.
  4. Confirm the included steam rack, lid, rice cup and spoon rather than assuming every bundle is identical.
  5. Check local voltage, plug, warranty and current price.
  6. Choose a pressure-cooker model instead if pressure cooking is a requirement.

Verdict

The PossibleCooker earns the “more than a slow cooker” description when you use its extra programs. Direct-pot searing enables genuinely useful one-pot recipes, while the large capacities suit family cooking. The best choice depends on the model: MC1101 variants are the more compelling option for built-in rice and pasta programs, whereas MC1001 versions focus more on slow cook, braise, bake and prove. Buy the exact regional model whose functions and capacity match your kitchen, rather than buying on the PossibleCooker name alone.
