The Daily Reporter’s Newsmakers of the Year awards recognize people and companies in Wisconsin’s construction and design industries for distinction and contributions to the field. The 2026 event was scheduled for October 8 at Jan Serr Studio in Milwaukee, with honors spanning company-level awards and many construction roles.

The Daily Reporter’s July announcement described the event as a networking opportunity and said Newsmakers events typically attract hundreds of people from Wisconsin construction, workforce development, business ownership, and the public sector. That is the publisher’s description of typical attendance, not an independently verified count.

Who was honored in 2026?
The Daily Reporter’s event listing names J.H. Hassinger Construction as Builder of the Year and Findorff as Green Builder of the Year. Its individual and leadership categories cover a wide range of work across the industry:

Miron Construction’s September 28, 2026 release identifies its employee Steve Lenz as Super Super of the Year and Christine Bohl as Unsung Hero of the Year. Miron says Lenz worked with project drawings, subcontractor coordination, and schedule development, and describes Bohl’s work in proposal and interview-presentation workflow, coaching, and editing. These are the employer’s descriptions of its employees’ work. A longtime colleague quoted anonymously in the release said of Lenz, “Simply put, Steve consistently demonstrates exceptional leadership.”

How nominations worked for the 2026 awards
The Daily Reporter’s July 15, 2026 announcement said nominations were due Friday, July 31, 2026. Nominators selected a category and explained why the nominee merited recognition; testimony from project partners and industry peers was welcome. Submissions could be made through the event page or the online nomination form.
