LG TVs do not all use the same mounting screws. The correct hardware depends on the exact TV model, VESA hole pattern, wall-mount bracket thickness, washers, spacers, and the maximum screw penetration allowed by LG. Possible TV-side diameters include M4, M5, M6, and M8; screen size alone is not a reliable way to choose.
The safe method is to identify the complete LG model number, read its manual, confirm the VESA pattern, hand-test the screw diameter, and select a length that secures the bracket without extending too far into the television.

Quick answer: which screws fit an LG TV wall mount?
| Question | Correct principle |
|---|---|
| Is there one LG TV screw size? | No. Specifications vary by model and mounting system. |
| What diameters may be used? | M4, M5, M6, or M8, depending on the television. |
| Does screen size determine screw size? | No. It is only a rough clue, not a specification. |
| What determines screw length? | Bracket, washer, spacer, thread-engagement, and LG penetration limits. |
| What does a VESA size describe? | The horizontal and vertical spacing between mounting holes—not screw size. |
| Can stand screws be reused? | Only if the TV manual specifically permits it. |
| Is a universal hardware kit automatically safe? | No. You must still verify diameter, length, spacers, and engagement. |
LG documentation demonstrates the variation. An older LG 24MT57S manual specifies M4 × L10 for a 75 × 75 mm mounting pattern, while the LG 55LF5700 quick-start guide specifies an M6-type screw and a 400 × 200 mm pattern. Those examples cannot be applied to every LG OLED, QNED, NanoCell, UHD, LCD, or LED television.
Read the LG model manual and the instructions for your wall mount before buying replacement hardware.

Know which screw you are selecting
“LG TV screw size” can refer to several different fasteners:
- TV-to-bracket screws: Metric machine screws that enter the threaded VESA inserts on the rear of the television.
- Bracket-to-wall fasteners: Structural screws, lag screws, masonry anchors, or other hardware selected for the wall construction and mount instructions.
- Stand screws: Hardware for attaching the tabletop stand. These may have a different diameter, length, head, or thread engagement.
- Spacer or adapter screws: Longer screws used when the TV has recessed holes, an irregular rear surface, cable clearance requirements, or LG-specific adapters.
Do not substitute drywall screws, wood screws, random bolts, or stand screws in the VESA inserts. A screw can appear to fit while still having the wrong thread, insufficient engagement, or excessive length.
VESA patterns: hole spacing, not screw size
A VESA pattern is the distance between the four mounting holes, measured horizontally and vertically in millimeters. Common examples include:
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →- 75 × 75 mm
- 100 × 100 mm
- 200 × 200 mm
- 300 × 200 mm
- 300 × 300 mm
- 400 × 200 mm
- 400 × 400 mm
A 400 × 200 pattern means the holes are 400 mm apart in one direction and 200 mm apart in the other. It does not mean the TV uses a “400” screw, nor does it specify the screw length.
Check that the mount supports the TV’s pattern, weight, and rear-panel shape. A mount is unsuitable if its arms cannot reach the holes, the rails block ports or ventilation, or the television requires a proprietary adapter.
For example, LG lists the OLW480B mount for selected LG model families and specific patterns including 300 × 300, 300 × 200, and 400 × 200 mm. LG does not treat all of its televisions as interchangeable.
How to identify the exact LG TV model
- Read the label on the rear of the television.
- Check the original box or purchase receipt.
- Open the TV’s product-information or support menu, where available.
- Search the complete model number on LG’s support website.
Record the entire model number, including its regional suffix. The suffix can identify a regional version with different documentation, accessories, or mounting specifications. LG’s support pages provide model-specific manuals for current televisions, including examples such as the 2025 75QNED92AUA and 2026 75QNED7SBUA.
M4, M5, M6, and M8: what the diameter means
Metric screw notation identifies the nominal diameter. For example, M6 × 20 mm is approximately 6 mm in nominal diameter and 20 mm long. M6 × 12 mm has the same diameter but is 8 mm shorter.

- All hardware is pre-divided & labeled to help you pick the exact screws you need without hassle. Extra screws can be thrown in your toolbox and used for any other project.
- Compatible with every major TV brand out there. TCL, Sony, LG, Sharp, Philips, Panasonic, and more. M8 screws even guarantee compatibility with Samsung TVs, which tend to have TV mount compatibility issues.
- M4: Common on smaller displays and some older LG models.
- M5: Included in many universal hardware kits and used by some television manufacturers.
- M6: Frequently encountered on medium and large televisions, but not universal across LG.
- M8: More common on some larger or heavier displays.
These are possibilities, not an LG-wide chart. Sanus instructions provide M4, M6, and M8 options and recommend gently hand-threading the candidate screws to identify the diameter; universal kits may also include M5 hardware. See the Sanus installation manual for the manufacturer’s screw-selection guidance.
How to choose the correct screw length
Diameter is only half of the problem. The required length must pass through the entire mounting stack:
Required screw length = washer thickness + bracket thickness + spacer thickness + permitted thread engagement.
This is a planning formula, not permission to exceed LG’s maximum penetration. The final choice must also comply with the LG manual and wall-mount instructions.
For most pan-head and button-head screws, length is measured from directly beneath the head to the tip—not from the top of the head.
Too short
A screw that barely enters the insert may not support the television securely. It can also fail to clamp the bracket against the rear of the TV.
Correct
The screw passes through the washer, bracket, and any required spacer, engages the threaded insert adequately, and stops within the manufacturer’s permitted depth.
Too long
A screw can bottom out in the insert or extend into internal components. Do not assume that a longer screw is safer. LG manuals warn that improper screw length can damage the product; Sanus likewise warns about both insufficient and excessive length.

Step-by-step procedure for selecting LG TV mounting screws
1. Identify the model
Write down the complete model number and region. Do not rely on the screen size, “LG OLED,” a retailer’s shortened listing, or the hardware from another LG television.
2. Read the correct documentation
Open the Owner’s Manual, Quick Setup Guide, wall-mount guide, and—if applicable—the instructions for the exact LG mount or accessory. Search the documents for VESA, wall mounting, standard screw, wall mount screw, mounting interface, screw length, and guide spacer.
Recommended Free Tools
LG’s general wall-mounting guidance also describes securing the wall bracket and attaching the corresponding TV bracket.
3. Confirm the VESA pattern
Compare the TV’s hole spacing with the mount’s supported patterns. Also check the television’s weight against the mount rating and inspect for curved, recessed, or unusually shaped surfaces.
4. Hand-test the diameter
- Support the TV safely and keep the bracket aside.
- Place a candidate screw straight into a VESA insert.
- Turn it gently by hand for several turns.
- Remove it immediately if it binds, cross-threads, or requires force.
- Test the next candidate diameter.
Only the correct thread should turn smoothly. Do not use a wrench or drill to force an M5, M6, or M8 screw into a different thread.
5. Calculate the length
Measure or obtain the thickness of the bracket, washers, and spacers. Select a length that provides adequate engagement without exceeding the LG limit. If the manual gives an exact screw length, follow it; if it gives a maximum projection, do not exceed it.

Use spacers when the mounting holes are recessed, the back is curved or irregular, the bracket would otherwise rest on the rear cover, or cables need clearance. Spacers belong between the TV and the bracket, not as an improvised stack under the screw head. Adding spacer thickness usually requires a longer—but still approved—screw.

- CORRECT LENGTH: Compatible with LG TVs specifying M6 1.0mm pitch, 10 to 30mm installations. For non-standard bracket thickness, the included washers and spacers provide multiple options. Will work for most TV's of 43/50/55/65/70/75/77 inch size.
- FULLY COMPATIBLE: Compatible with VESA mounting patterns 400x400, 300x300, 300x200, 200x200 and Brackets such as MSW240, LSW200B, LSW240B, LSW430B, LSW400B, LSW350B, OTW420B, OLW480B, LSW440B, WB24GCB, PSW400B and more.
- SAFE INSTALLATION: Flat washers and split lock washers provide the right amount of grip. The split lock washers exert pressure against the mounting surface and screw, preventing them from backing out or becoming loose over time due to vibrations.
- BLACK PLATED: Black oxide surface treatment for rust prevention. It matches the color of many TV and mount components, creating a professional appearance.
7. Attach the TV brackets
- Place the television screen-down only on a clean, padded surface and follow the model’s instructions.
- Do not press on the display panel.
- Align the bracket and every VESA hole.
- Insert washers and screws by hand.
- Tighten evenly in a cross pattern.
- Use a hand screwdriver, not an impact driver.
- Follow the mount’s specified torque if one is provided.
Stop if the bracket is loose, rocks, or becomes tight before it is clamped securely. Do not compensate by overtightening.
LG-specific mounting exceptions
Some LG televisions are not ordinary flat-back VESA installations:
- OLED G-series and Gallery models: Flush or Gallery designs may use a dedicated wall mount, guide spacers, adapters, or size-specific mounting arrangements.
- Zero-gap or slim mounts: These can require exact cable routing and model-specific hardware.
- Recessed mounting holes: The bracket may need spacers and a different screw length.
- Very large displays: Some use unusual VESA dimensions or specialized brackets.
- Accessory-specific hardware: A screw listed for an LG Gallery Stand is not automatically suitable for a universal wall mount.
LG’s OLED G5 guidance lists different brackets and VESA arrangements by size. LG’s Gallery Stand documentation separately lists accessory screws such as M6 × L14 and M6 × L12. Those specifications illustrate why accessory hardware must not be generalized to every LG TV.

The correct TV-side screw cannot make an unsafe wall installation safe. Wall-side fasteners are selected separately:
- Wood studs: Use structural screws or lag screws specified by the mount and sized for the stud.
- Concrete or masonry: Use anchors rated for the substrate, load, and mount.
- Metal studs: Do not assume ordinary drywall anchors are adequate.
- Drywall alone: It is generally not sufficient for a heavy television unless a specifically rated system and installation method are used.
- Fireplace locations: Consider heat, viewing height, wall structure, and cable routing before drilling.
Scan or inspect for electrical wiring and plumbing. Full-motion mounts create more leverage because the TV projects farther from the wall. Very large televisions, masonry walls, metal studs, concealed wiring, and Gallery-style installations are good candidates for professional installation.

Assuming every LG TV uses M6
M6 is common, but LG documentation includes both the M4 × L10 example for the 24MT57S and an M6 example for the 55LF5700. Verify the exact model.
Confusing VESA size with screw size
VESA describes hole spacing. It does not specify thread diameter or length.

Choosing length from the TV alone
The bracket, washer, and spacer stack changes the required length. A screw that worked with one mount may be wrong with another.
Adding spacers without changing screw length
A spacer increases the distance the screw must cross. It does not make an excessively long screw safe.
Using a power drill
A drill can strip the insert, over-tighten the screw, or damage the TV. Use a hand screwdriver unless the instructions specify controlled torque equipment.

| Symptom | Likely cause | Action |
|---|---|---|
| Screw will not start | Wrong diameter, misalignment, or damaged threads | Remove it, realign the bracket, inspect the hardware, and hand-test another approved diameter. |
| Screw turns but never tightens | Too long, insufficient engagement, stripped threads, or missing spacer | Stop. Recheck the spacer stack and try a shorter approved length; seek assistance if the insert spins. |
| Screw tightens before the bracket is secure | Too long, incorrect spacer arrangement, or bracket not seated flat | Do not overtighten. Correct the stack or use a shorter compatible screw. |
| Bracket rocks on the TV | Missing spacer, wrong adapter, or incompatible mount | Use the specified spacer or bracket. Do not bend the mount or improvise with loose washer stacks. |
| Mount blocks ports | Incorrect bracket orientation or incompatible mount | Check alternate rail positions, spacers, cable clearance, or replace the mount. |
| TV is not level | Mount adjustment is incorrect | Use the mount’s leveling adjustment. Keep the TV supported while making changes. |
Connect difficult-to-reach cables before lifting the television onto the wall bracket when the manufacturer permits it. LG recommends this approach for easier access in its current mounting guidance.
Universal mount or LG-specific mount?
Universal mount
A universal mount offers more choices of fixed, tilting, and full-motion designs and often includes several screw sizes and spacers. The trade-off is that the installer must select the correct hardware, and the rails may interfere with ports or the thin rear panel of an OLED TV.
LG-specific mount
An LG-specific mount may provide a slimmer appearance and model-specific adapters, but compatibility can be limited by model year, screen size, and regional version. Confirm that the exact TV appears on the manufacturer’s compatibility list.
Fixed, tilting, and full-motion
- Fixed: Closest to the wall and simplest, but rear ports are difficult to access.
- Tilting: Useful above eye level, with limited adjustment.
- Full-motion: Better for corners and off-axis viewing, but projects farther and increases wall leverage.
- Slim or zero-gap: Attractive for compatible LG models, but less forgiving of incorrect spacers and cable routing.
Buying replacement hardware
- Use original LG hardware when the model and accessory are known.
- Use hardware supplied by the mount manufacturer when the mount is known and its instructions identify the correct option.
- Buy a universal kit only after verifying the required diameter, length, spacer arrangement, and thread engagement.
- Buy an LG-specific mount for Gallery, flush, or zero-gap models only when the exact TV is on the compatibility list.
- Replace the mount if its VESA range, weight rating, or rear clearance is unsuitable.
A replacement kit such as the SANUS VHWTV-C includes multiple M4, M5, M6, and M8 screws, washers, and spacers. The ECHOGEAR universal hardware pack offers a similar assortment. These products provide options; neither replaces the LG manual or the mount’s instructions.
