What is the iRoom iDock?
The iDock is an in-wall iPad docking station. Its motorized mechanism releases the tablet from the dock, and the manufacturer’s Portrait and Landscape datasheets describe the dock as continuously charging the iPad while it is stored. Portrait or Landscape: which model fits the installation?
Orientation is a physical choice, not just a setting. The Portrait datasheet says that model should be installed vertically and recommends a Landscape or other named iRoom model for horizontal installation. The Landscape model has its own wider, shorter enclosure and cutout. What installation box does it need?
The cited Portrait datasheet calls for an installation box, and a legacy Landscape datasheet also specifies one. Do not assume the box is included: the legacy sheet says the tablet is not included, and package contents can vary by exact SKU. Before installation, confirm with the seller or manufacturer the matching box, bezel and finish, cutout, and supplied components for the dock being purchased. Does the iDock fit my iPad?
The available current surfaced Portrait and Landscape datasheets do not provide a complete iPad-generation compatibility matrix. A 2018 catalog lists LBA-5/LBG-5 models with iPad Air 1 and 2, the 9.7-inch iPad, and the 9.7-inch iPad Pro; that is historical evidence for those cataloged models, not a guarantee for a newer dock or tablet. Which power and control details should an installer verify?
The newer surfaced Portrait and Landscape datasheets each list 85–264 V AC, 47–63 Hz, and 15 W. A legacy datasheet lists 110–230 VAC and PoE options for its specified product line; that does not establish PoE support for every iDock.
