Disney’s official notice says guest-room refurbishment at Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – Riverside will occur in different parts of the resort from early May 2025 through August 2027, and guests may see or hear construction. You can ask for a room away from active work, but Disney does not guarantee a building, view, or noise-free stay. Add a specific construction-avoidance request before arrival, then have the front desk check the current work area and your assigned room when you check in.
What to request—and what Disney can actually promise
Use “away from active refurbishment or construction noise” rather than only “quiet room.” Quiet can mean different things to different Cast Members: a room away from a pool, a bus stop, an elevator, a connecting door, or a busy footpath. Naming construction as the priority makes the request easier to interpret.

Disney’s current Port Orleans Riverside notice covers a resort-wide window, not a building-by-building calendar. Work can move while your reservation is pending, and room inventory changes as other guests arrive and depart. A request is therefore a preference, not a reservation guarantee. PlanDisney explains that requests are not guaranteed and depend on availability at check-in. A 2026 PortOrleans.org room-location guide likewise says that specific views or locations must be submitted as requests and are not guaranteed.
Use this wording in the reservation or online check-in field:

“If available, please place us in a room away from active refurbishment or construction noise. A quiet room is our priority, even if it means being farther from dining, transportation, or the main pool.”
Add the reservation name, confirmation number, and stay dates. If sleep, remote work, an infant’s schedule, or a medical need makes daytime noise especially difficult, state that briefly. Keep one priority at the top; a long list of equal requests makes it harder for staff to know which trade-off you accept.
How to add the request before your stay
1. Enter it as early as the booking system allows
Add the note through Disney’s reservation-management or online-check-in process as soon as you have a confirmation. Look for a guest-request or room-location field and use the construction-specific wording. Save the confirmation or screenshot showing the note, but treat it as a preference rather than proof of a guaranteed assignment.

If the reservation channel offers free text, a Cast Member note, or another way to clarify a request, repeat the same sentence and include the confirmation number. Avoid contradictory instructions such as requesting both the closest possible room and the most secluded room unless you explain which one wins.
3. Call if you need a note added or clarified
PlanDisney identifies Disney’s reservations number as (407) W-DISNEY (934-7639) for having a request noted. Tell the Cast Member that avoiding active refurbishment noise is the primary requirement, provide the reservation details, and ask the Cast Member to read the note back to you. The note still depends on availability when you arrive.

4. Keep your request current
If your dates, room type, or number of guests changes, review the request again. A room category can limit which buildings are eligible, so a note made for one category may not transfer to every alternative automatically.
What to do at check-in
Ask where work is active that day
Before accepting keys, ask the front desk which parts of the resort currently have refurbishment activity and whether your assigned room is near that area. The official notice does not provide a fixed building schedule, so the front desk’s current information is more useful for your specific arrival than an older map or a general internet recommendation.

Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Outbyte PC Repair FREEClear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Review the assignment on a resort map
Ask the Cast Member to point out your room and the active work area on a resort map. Check the orientation of the room, not just the building name: a room at the back of a building may face away from work, while another room in the same building may face it.
Discuss the trade-off before changing rooms
A quieter location may be farther from dining, buses, the main pool, or the Sassagoula Steamboat Company. Ask what would change if you moved: walking distance, floor, view, room category, connecting-door status, elevator or stair traffic, and availability for every night of the stay. Do not give up a confirmed room until you understand whether the alternative is available for the full reservation.
Inspect the room promptly
After entering, listen during the hours when you expect to sleep or work. Construction may be intermittent, so a quiet first minute does not establish that the room will remain quiet. If daytime work is audible, return to the front desk promptly and ask whether another available room can be considered. Explain that the issue is active construction noise and refer to the location you already reviewed on the map.

How to compare available room locations
When the front desk offers more than one option, compare the choices in this order:
| Factor | Questions to ask | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Construction exposure | How far is the room from today’s work, and which direction does it face? | Distance and orientation can reduce exposure, but only the current work area can establish which option is better. |
| Pool and pedestrian activity | Is the room beside a pool, path, gathering point, elevator, or stairwell? | A room can be away from construction yet still receive ordinary resort noise. |
| Transportation and dining | How long is the walk to buses, dining, shopping, or the main pool? | Seclusion may require accepting a longer walk. |
| Floor and adjacency | Is a top-floor, non-connecting room available, away from elevator or stair traffic? | These preferences may help with sleep when inventory permits, but they are not construction guarantees. |
| Room category | Does the Standard, 5th Sleeper, King, or Royal Guest Room category restrict the buildings available? | The best location is useful only if it fits the booked room type and dates. |
Preferred Location versus a quieter location
Disney describes Preferred Location rooms as being in Alligator Bayou or Magnolia Bend near Sassagoula Steamboat Company, dining, shopping, and transportation. “Preferred” describes convenience; it is not a quiet-room designation and does not mean the room is outside refurbishment activity.
If avoiding construction matters more than minimizing walking, tell the Cast Member that you will trade proximity for distance from active work. Conversely, if mobility or a tight schedule makes transportation access essential, say so and ask whether a room can be placed away from work without giving up that access. Make the trade-off explicit instead of assuming the label identifies the quieter choice.
Building suggestions: useful context, not a current construction map
A 2013 planDisney answer suggested Acadian House (Building 80) in Magnolia Bend and Building 37 in Alligator Bayou because they were toward the back or away from a smaller pool. That is historical guest advice, not a current construction schedule. Building activity, room inventory, landscaping, and normal guest patterns can change substantially over more than a decade.
You may mention one of those buildings as a preference if it fits your reservation, but pair it with the construction-specific request and let the front desk confirm the present conditions. Do not insist on a named building when the current work is elsewhere; a different building may be quieter for your dates.

Room categories that can affect the assignment
Port Orleans Riverside lists Standard Location rooms in Magnolia Bend, Standard Location – 5th Sleeper rooms in Alligator Bayou, and Preferred Location rooms in Alligator Bayou or Magnolia Bend. King rooms and Royal Guest Rooms are separate room types. The category you booked can narrow the buildings that can be offered, so ask which rooms in that category are away from active work before requesting a move.
If you are willing to change categories, ask about the cost and availability before agreeing. A change could affect sleeping capacity, accessibility, bedding, view, or the length of time the room remains available. The front desk can explain the actual option for your stay; do not assume a category change will create a quiet-room guarantee.
Noise sources to consider besides refurbishment
Construction is only one possible source of sound. Rooms near pools, pedestrian paths, transportation stops, elevators, staircases, or connecting doors can experience ordinary guest traffic. Ask the front desk about these factors separately so that “away from construction” does not accidentally become “next to the busiest pool.”
- Pool areas: activity can continue after daytime work has stopped.
- Paths and gathering points: footsteps and conversations may be noticeable even in a building that is distant from refurbishment.
- Elevators and stairs: doors and passing guests can create recurring traffic noise.
- Connecting rooms: sound can carry between adjacent rooms; request a non-connecting room if that is more important than another preference and if inventory allows.
These are practical considerations, not promises about any particular building. The current assignment and the front desk’s map review should control your decision.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsIf construction becomes loud after you settle in
Document the timing and location
Note when the noise occurs, whether it is continuous or intermittent, and whether it appears to come from the room’s side of the building or a nearby work zone. This gives the front desk a specific problem to solve rather than a general complaint about the resort.

Return to the front desk promptly
Explain that the assigned room is affected by audible daytime work and ask what rooms are available for the remaining nights. Bring your confirmation details and identify the trade-offs you can accept, such as a longer walk or a different view. Availability can be limited, especially if you need the same room category or accessible features.
Confirm the replacement before moving belongings
Ask to see the proposed location on the map and verify that it is away from the active area. Confirm whether the move covers every remaining night and whether any room-category, accessibility, or transportation differences apply. Only then arrange the key exchange and move.
A practical timeline for a construction-avoidance request
- When booking: choose the room category that meets your sleeping and accessibility needs.
- As soon as the reservation exists: add “away from active refurbishment or construction noise” as the primary request.
- Before arrival: repeat the request through an available Disney contact channel and keep your confirmation number ready.
- At check-in: ask which areas are active, review your assignment on a map, and discuss any location trade-offs.
- Immediately after entering: check the room during likely sleep or work hours.
- If noise is present: return to the front desk promptly, ask about available alternatives, and verify the new location before moving.
Common mistakes that reduce the usefulness of a request
- Writing only “quiet room”: identify construction as the specific concern.
- Requesting a guaranteed building: Disney can record preferences but cannot promise a particular building or view.
- Treating Preferred Location as a noise rating: it indicates proximity to amenities, not seclusion.
- Relying on a historical building recommendation: older advice does not show where current work is occurring.
- Waiting until the final night to report noise: contact the front desk as soon as the problem is apparent so an alternative can be evaluated.
- Listing too many equal priorities: rank construction avoidance against distance, view, floor, pool access, and room type.
What is known about the refurbishment window
Disney’s official Port Orleans Riverside room page states: “From early May 2025 through August 2027, Guest rooms at Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – Riverside will undergo refurbishment throughout different parts of the Resort hotel. During this time, Guests may see or hear construction work in the area.” The statement covers the overall period and warns of possible sight and sound impacts; it does not identify which building will be active on a particular date.

Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteBecause the work is described as occurring in different parts of the resort, a request made months ahead cannot reliably predict the quietest building. For a specific stay, use the latest reservation notes and the front desk’s arrival-day information rather than assuming that a location listed in an older guide remains away from work.
Questions to settle before accepting a room
- Which building and side of the building is this room on?
- Where is active refurbishment occurring today?
- Does the room face that work area?
- Is a top-floor or non-connecting alternative available?
- How much farther would a quieter option be from dining, buses, shopping, or the pool?
- Will the alternative remain available for every night of the reservation?
- Does the alternative preserve your room type, bedding, accessibility, and occupancy needs?
Answering these questions turns a general preference into a location decision based on the conditions Disney can see at that moment.
