Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteDisneyland Park’s entrance is reached through the Main Entrance Esplanade, the pedestrian area between Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park. Your visit starts with any required parking or transportation route, then current security screening, ticket and reservation verification, and an entry scan. Disney says facial-recognition technology is used in entrance lanes, but guests who do not wish to participate can select a designated lane marked by an icon. MagicBand+ can provide tap-based entry after setup, but it is optional and never replaces valid admission or a required reservation.
Where is the entrance to Disneyland Park?
The public approach to Disneyland Park is the Main Entrance Esplanade, the open area between Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park. Once you reach the Esplanade, follow the signs for Disneyland Park and the directions of Cast Members. Entrance locations, lane assignments and crowd-control signs can change, so treat the signs you see that day as the controlling directions rather than relying on an older map or a previous visit.

Disney describes two usual ways to reach the Esplanade from these structures:

Coming from the Toy Story Parking Area
Guests at the Toy Story Parking Area may use Disney bus transportation or walk to the parks via Harbor Boulevard. Allow for the possibility that Disney will assign a different parking area and then follow the directions provided at that location.
What to do when you reach the Esplanade
- Read the current overhead and lane-level signs before joining a queue.
- Confirm that you are entering the Disneyland Park side, not the Disney California Adventure Park side.
- Keep admission credentials and identification information available for the Cast Member or entry touch point.
- Use the lane indicated for your ticket presentation method and, if relevant, your facial-recognition preference.
Where do I go for Disneyland security check?
Security screening is part of the approach to the park entrances. Disneyland Resort’s rules state: All persons, bags, parcels, clothing and other items may be subject to screening/security checks.
The rule applies broadly to people and belongings; it does not promise that every visitor will experience an identical sequence or that a particular type of inspection will always occur.
What the rules mean in practice
- Any person or item may be selected for screening or a security check.
- Disney may refuse a bag, parcel or other item, even if a guest has brought it to the entrance.
- You must follow the current Resort rules, posted signs and Cast Member instructions.
- The exact equipment, lane layout, order of checks and waiting time are operational details that can vary.
Because Disney’s published rule is deliberately general, do not plan around a guaranteed bag-removal step, a fixed metal-detector procedure or a promised processing time. Pack only what you are prepared to present for inspection and respond to the instructions given in your assigned lane.
Preparing bags and belongings
Keep essential items organized so that you can present them without unpacking everything unnecessarily. A screening decision belongs to Disney; no bag style or container is guaranteed to pass. If you decide that carrying an item through the entrance is inconvenient, lockers are available in Disneyland Park, Disney California Adventure Park and the Esplanade, including locations outside both parks’ main entrances.
What must be confirmed before Disneyland entry?
Disney’s rules and entry guidance require valid admission and identification confirmation for entry and re-entry, and for crossing between parks when that applies to your ticket. Current Disney guidance also says that a park reservation is required when the ticket or pass has a reservation requirement. In practical terms, a successful scan cannot cure an invalid ticket, a missing required reservation or a credential that is not assigned to the person using it.

Admission and reservation checklist
- Verify that your ticket or pass is valid for the date and park you intend to visit.
- Complete a park reservation when your ticket or pass requires one under the current rules.
- Have the identification or confirmation information Disney requests available.
- Make sure each person’s credential is associated with the correct admission entitlement.
- For re-entry or park crossover, retain the same valid credential and follow any additional Cast Member verification.
Requirements can differ by ticket type, pass and date. Check Disney’s current entry information shortly before travel rather than assuming that a previous visit’s rules still apply.
How do I scan my Disneyland ticket at the entrance?
Disney supports more than one way to present admission. The official material clearly documents MagicBand+ as a tap-based option. It does not publish a complete, universal set of app-only scanner instructions for every ticket type, so use the current prompts in the Disneyland app and the directions at the entrance rather than following an unofficial button-by-button script.

Using MagicBand+
- Install or update the Disneyland app before your visit.
- Link the MagicBand+ through the app.
- Assign a valid ticket or pass to the band.
- Confirm that the admission is valid and that any required park reservation has been made.
- At the entrance, tap the band against the designated touch point when instructed.
- Follow Cast Member directions if the touch point requests another presentation or verification.
MagicBand+ is a physical credential that can make entry more convenient for someone who wants to tap without repeatedly opening a phone. The band itself is not admission, does not create a reservation and cannot be used to bypass Disney’s identity or security requirements.
Using the Disneyland app or another supported credential
The Disneyland app is Disney’s official planning and account tool. Disney documents it for linking MagicBand+, and its current prompts may change as the app is updated. Open the app before joining the queue, keep the phone charged and follow the entry screen or any instruction shown by a Cast Member. If the app does not display the expected credential, do not assume that a screenshot, an expired pass or an unlinked ticket will substitute for the required admission confirmation; ask a Cast Member how to resolve the account or ticket issue.
Which presentation method should you choose?
| Option | How it is presented | Setup | Best fit | What it does not replace |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| MagicBand+ | Tap the physical band at the entrance touch point. | Link the band in the Disneyland app and assign a valid ticket or pass. | Visitors who prefer a hands-free, physical tap. | Valid admission, any required reservation, identification confirmation or security screening. |
| Disneyland app or other current ticket credential | Use the credential and prompts currently supported for your ticket; follow the entrance instructions. | Keep the app current and ensure the ticket is correctly associated with the account or holder. | Visitors who do not want a MagicBand+ or already have a supported digital credential. | Valid admission, any required reservation, identification confirmation or security screening. |
No published information establishes that one method is faster or more reliable than the other. Choose on convenience, phone readiness and whether you already own and have linked a compatible band.

Can I use MagicBand+ to enter Disneyland?
Yes. Disney describes MagicBand+ as an optional way to tap into the parks after it is linked in the Disneyland app and assigned a valid ticket or pass. Entry still depends on the admission entitlement and any applicable reservation. A band that has not been linked, has no assigned admission or is connected to an invalid ticket will not independently grant access.
Before leaving for the resort
- Charge the band and your phone.
- Update the Disneyland app.
- Link the band and confirm the intended ticket or pass is assigned.
- Check the reservation calendar or confirmation when your admission type requires a reservation.
- Bring a backup way to access your account or ticket information in case the band needs additional verification.
Do not buy or carry a MagicBand+ solely because you believe it is mandatory. Disney’s own description treats it as a convenience option; guests can use the current non-band credential supported for their ticket.
Is there a separate entrance lane if I don’t want facial recognition?
Disney’s current pre-arrival information says that park entrance lanes use facial-recognition technology. It also directs guests who do not wish to participate to choose a designated lane marked with an icon at the main entrance of each park.
How to choose the non-participation lane
- Look at the sign at the top of each entrance lane before you join it.
- Identify the lane marked with the designated icon for guests who do not wish to participate.
- Join that lane and tell the Cast Member if you are unsure which line applies.
- Follow the current identity and ticket-verification instructions in that lane.
Lane signs are the operative instructions on the day of your visit. Their position, icon design or availability can change with entrance operations, so do not rely on a photo from an earlier trip. Selecting a different lane does not remove the need for valid admission, required reservations, identification confirmation or security screening.
What happens if a scan, ticket or lane choice does not work?
An unsuccessful entry attempt is a reason to pause and ask the Cast Member at the touch point, not to move into another lane without guidance. The likely remedy depends on what failed: ticket validity, reservation status, account linkage, identification confirmation or the physical credential.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →If the MagicBand+ does not respond
- Check that the band is linked in the Disneyland app.
- Confirm that the intended ticket or pass is assigned to that band.
- Verify that the admission and any required reservation are valid for that day and park.
- Present the associated ticket or account information when a Cast Member requests it.
If the app does not show your admission
Check that you are signed into the account associated with the ticket and that the app is current. Avoid deleting or reassigning tickets while standing in the queue unless a Cast Member tells you to do so; an incorrect change can make account troubleshooting harder. Ask for assistance at the entrance if the credential remains unavailable.
If you are sent to another lane
Follow the redirection. Disney may adjust lane assignments for security, capacity or operational reasons. A changed lane does not indicate that your ticket is invalid; it means the current entrance operation takes precedence over an earlier plan.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Where can I store belongings near the entrances?
Disney lists lockers at Disneyland Park, Disney California Adventure Park and the Esplanade, including locker locations outside both parks’ main entrances. Locker rates vary by location and size, and the official listing provides the current prices and conditions. The page describes unlimited access during the day, but check the live terms for the locker you select before storing an item.
Use a locker for belongings you do not want to carry through the parks, while remembering that locker availability, location and price are subject to change. A locker does not alter the screening rules for anything you bring to the entrance before storage.
A practical arrival sequence for first-time visitors
- Check your admission before travel. Confirm ticket validity, park selection and any reservation requirement.
- Confirm the route from your assigned parking area. Depending on the location, use the tram, Magic Way pedestrian bridge, bus service or Harbor Boulevard walking route described by Disney.
- Reach the Main Entrance Esplanade. Use current signs to identify Disneyland Park’s side of the Esplanade.
- Prepare your credential. Have the current app credential or a correctly linked MagicBand+ ready, along with identification information Disney requests.
- Read the lane signs. Select the designated icon-marked lane if you do not wish to participate in facial recognition.
- Complete screening as directed. Be prepared for persons and belongings to be subject to security checks.
- Present admission at the touch point. Tap MagicBand+ if you are using it, or follow the current instructions for your supported ticket credential.
- Resolve exceptions with a Cast Member. If the scan, reservation or account does not match, remain at the entrance for assistance rather than guessing at a workaround.
Questions to check shortly before your visit
- Has Disney changed your parking assignment or transportation route?
- Does your ticket or pass require a park reservation for the date selected?
- Is your Disneyland app current, and is your MagicBand+ linked if you plan to use it?
- Which lane icon is displayed for guests who do not wish to use facial recognition?
- Where are the nearest lockers, and what is the current rate for the size you need?
These details are operational and can change. Check Disney’s live rules, arrival information, app prompts and locker listing close to departure, then follow the signs and Cast Member directions at the resort.

Not necessarily. Disneyland Resort rules say all persons and belongings may be subject to screening or security checks, while the exact sequence and equipment can vary. Follow the current lane signs and Cast Member instructions.
Can I avoid facial recognition at the Disneyland entrance?
Disney says guests who do not wish to participate should choose the designated lane marked with an icon at the main entrance. Check the signs at the tops of the lanes when you arrive.
Where are Disneyland Resort lockers located?
Disney lists lockers in Disneyland Park, Disney California Adventure Park and the Esplanade, including outside both parks’ main entrances. Location, size and daily rates can vary.
