At Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, every guest age 3 or older needs two things for each day of entry: valid admission and a theme park reservation for the same date and park. Buying a ticket does not create a reservation, and a hotel booking does not guarantee one. Check Disney’s reservation calendar before you buy or commit to travel, because dates can fill through Disney’s allocations, blockout dates and park-capacity limits.
Use a MyDisney account to link your admission, choose an available date and starting park, and confirm the reservation. A multi-day ticket needs a separate reservation for every visit day. Park Hopper tickets still require a reservation; they add the option to visit the other park later, subject to Disney’s operating rules and capacity.

The rule that determines whether you can enter
Disneyland Resort treats admission and reservations as separate requirements. For each planned visit, match the admission and reservation to the same park and calendar date. The requirement applies to guests age 3 and older under Disney’s current reservation guidance checked October 13, 2026.
- Admission: Your ticket or other valid entry product.
- Reservation: A date-specific booking for a particular park, tied to the admission in your account.
- Daily matching: Each day of a multi-day ticket needs its own park reservation.
A ticket can be valid while the date you want has no reservation availability. Conversely, a reservation does not replace the admission needed at the gate. Do not treat either item as a substitute for the other.

Check availability before purchasing
Disney controls reservations through a rolling calendar. How far ahead dates appear can vary by Disney’s schedule, and ticket and Magic Key booking windows can differ. Availability is also affected by allocations, applicable blockout dates and park capacity. Because these limits are date- and park-specific, check the calendar for the exact ticket type and dates in your plans before paying or finalizing travel.
Use this sequence when planning:
- Open Disney’s current theme park reservation availability calendar.
- Identify the admission product you intend to use and the dates it covers.
- Check each date separately, selecting the park you expect to enter first.
- Only after the dates and parks show availability should you complete the purchase or lock in nonrefundable travel arrangements.
Availability can change after you look. Recheck the reservation and park operating information shortly before your trip, even if you already have tickets or lodging.
How to make a reservation with an existing ticket
Disney’s reservation tools handle the booking. Have the ticket information ready and use the same MyDisney account that will manage the visit.
Recommended Free Tools
- Sign in: Log in to your MyDisney account.
- Link admission: Add the valid ticket or other admission to the account. Some ticket types may display an associated QR code for linking or use in the process.
- Open the reservation flow: Choose the option to make a theme park reservation.
- Select a date: Pick one visit date from the availability shown for that admission.
- Select a park: Choose Disneyland Park or Disney California Adventure as the park you plan to enter first. The available choices depend on the ticket and calendar.
- Confirm: Review the guest, admission, date and park, then submit the reservation.
- Verify the result: Check the confirmation in your account before leaving the reservation flow. Make sure every traveler and every planned day appears correctly.
Repeat the date-and-park selection for every day covered by a multi-day ticket. One successful booking does not automatically reserve the remaining days.

One park per day versus Park Hopper
Disney describes two broad admission patterns. A one-park-per-day ticket limits that day’s entry to the selected park. Park Hopper admission allows a guest to start at one park and potentially visit the other on the same day, but it does not remove the reservation requirement.
| Ticket feature | What you select in the reservation | What happens during the day |
|---|---|---|
| One park per day | The park you will visit on that date | Admission is for that selected park for the day |
| Park Hopper | The first park you plan to enter | You may try to cross to the other park later, subject to timing, hours, capacity, closures and other restrictions |
For Park Hopper admission, Disney’s vacation-package terms describe crossing after 11:00 a.m. They also state that after 11:00 a.m., a guest who has not yet entered either park may enter either park despite the park designated as the start. Treat 11:00 a.m. as an operational rule that can be affected by current conditions, and check the day’s hours and app guidance.
Entry to the second park is not guaranteed. Capacity limits, a temporary closure, changed operating hours or another restriction can prevent or delay the hop. Plan the reserved starting park as the park you can use even if the second-park visit is unavailable.
How multi-day tickets work
Multi-day admission counts admission days, not reservations. If your ticket covers three days, you must reserve a park for day one, day two and day three. You can choose different parks on different dates when the calendar and ticket allow it.
Build the schedule date by date rather than assuming the first reservation applies to the whole ticket. A useful planning worksheet includes:
- Travel date and day number of the ticket
- Reserved starting park
- Whether the ticket is one-park-per-day or Park Hopper
- Confirmation status in the MyDisney account
- Any relevant blockout or operating-hour information
If plans change, check the replacement date and park before releasing the reservation you already hold. This prevents giving up a usable booking before confirming that the new choice is available.
Hotel packages and eTickets
A Disneyland Resort hotel-package page describes eTickets for guests age 3 and older in 2–5-day durations. The default ticket format is one park per day, with a paid Park Hopper upgrade available for the package described. Exact package contents and offers can change, so read the ticket component attached to the dates you are considering.

1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteStaying at a Disneyland Resort hotel does not guarantee a theme park reservation. Treat lodging and park access as separate parts of the plan: confirm the ticket, then confirm a matching reservation for every intended entry day. A package can be a convenient way to combine components, but it does not bypass the availability calendar.

Changing, cancelling or missing a reservation
Disney allows reservations to be changed or cancelled in its reservation tools. Before cancelling, search for the replacement date or park and confirm that it is available for the same admission. Availability is not held merely because you previously had a reservation.
The reservation is associated with the admission used to make it. It cannot be sold or transferred to someone else. Keep the ticket and the reservation together in the account of the guest who will use them.
An unused reservation expires at the end of its scheduled day. If you miss the date, it does not remain an open credit for a later visit. Check the current ticket terms and reservation tools for any separate admission validity rules that may apply.

Two-day one-park visit
For a two-day ticket, select Disneyland Park for the first date and Disney California Adventure for the second date if both choices are available. Each date receives its own confirmation. The first reservation does not authorize entry on the second date.
Two-day Park Hopper visit
Reserve Disneyland Park as the starting park on day one and Disney California Adventure as the starting park on day two, if that matches your itinerary. On either day, you may attempt to visit the other park after the applicable crossover time, but access depends on current hours, capacity and restrictions.
Hotel stay with a sold-out date
If your hotel package is confirmed but the reservation calendar has no availability for a desired date, the lodging confirmation does not create park access. Look for another available date or park before changing the travel plan, and do not assume the package overrides capacity controls.
Troubleshooting common problems
| Symptom | Likely cause | Action |
|---|---|---|
| Ticket appears in the account but no reservation is shown | Admission has been linked but a separate reservation has not been completed | Open the reservation tool, select an available date and park, and confirm the booking |
| The desired date cannot be selected | The date may be unavailable for that ticket, affected by a blockout or at capacity | Check other dates or parks; do not purchase or cancel until the alternative is confirmed |
| A multi-day ticket shows only one reservation | Reservations are day-specific | Book each remaining admission day separately |
| A Park Hopper guest cannot enter the second park | Crossover timing, capacity, hours, a closure or another restriction may apply | Check the current app guidance and operating conditions; second-park entry is not guaranteed |
| A family member’s reservation is missing | The guest or admission was not included in the confirmation | Review the linked tickets and confirmation before travel and correct the booking while availability remains |
| Plans changed after booking | The original reservation is tied to its date and park | Find availability for the replacement first, then modify or cancel the original reservation |
What to verify before leaving home
- Every guest age 3 or older has valid admission.
- Every admission day has a separate reservation.
- The reservation date matches the intended visit date.
- The selected park matches the planned starting park.
- Park Hopper guests have checked the current crossover guidance and understand that the second park is subject to capacity.
- Names, tickets and confirmations are visible in the managing MyDisney account.
- Current park hours, closures, blockout information and reservation availability have been reviewed again.
Rules and availability can change
Disney’s reservation calendar, ticket products, package offers, operating hours, capacity controls and Park Hopper procedures are operational policies rather than permanent guarantees. The figures that matter most for planning are the age threshold of 3 and older, the 2–5-day eTicket range described for the resort package, and the 11:00 a.m. crossover time in the package terms. Confirm all of them in Disney’s live reservation system for your dates before travel.
