EcoFlow launched the DELTA Pro Ultra at CES on January 9, 2024, as a modular battery-inverter platform designed for whole-home backup. In its original configuration, it offered 6 kWh of battery capacity, 7,200 watts of output and up to 5.6 kW of solar input. With EcoFlow’s Smart Home Panel 2, expansion batteries and the right electrical installation, it can support selected or whole-home circuits—including certain 120- and 240-volt loads.
That does not mean the base unit can simply be wheeled into a garage and connected to every circuit. Automatic whole-home backup requires transfer equipment, professional electrical work and a configuration sized for the home’s actual loads. It also has finite battery capacity, so it is not an unlimited replacement for a fuel-powered standby generator.

What EcoFlow actually launched
The DELTA Pro Ultra is a modular battery-generator system rather than a conventional wall-mounted home battery. It combines an inverter, battery storage and multiple charging options in a platform that can be expanded and, in some circumstances, relocated more easily than a permanently installed system.

EcoFlow’s current U.S. product pages describe larger configurations ranging from 6 to 90 kWh of capacity and 7.2 to 21.6 kW of output, depending on the number of batteries and inverters used. Those figures describe configurable systems, not what every base bundle can deliver.
EcoFlow’s launch announcement and its original specification sheet are useful for separating the 2024 launch configuration from later product-page bundles.
What “whole-home backup” means
“Whole-home” describes the circuits that can be connected to the backup system—not unlimited operation of every appliance for an unlimited time. Three separate limits matter:
The Tool Desk
Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →- Power capacity: the maximum output available at one time, measured in watts or kilowatts.
- Energy capacity: the amount stored in the batteries, measured in kilowatt-hours.
- Circuit coverage: which circuits are actually connected through the home-integration equipment.
EcoFlow says one DELTA Pro Ultra inverter can provide 7.2 kW of output and that three inverters connected through the Smart Home Panel 2 can provide up to 21.6 kW of AC output. The company also markets 120- and 240-volt operation and says the system can run a 3-ton central air conditioner under stated conditions.
Those claims should be treated as configuration-dependent. A central air conditioner, well pump, heat pump or electric range may have a high starting surge. Several large loads starting simultaneously can exceed the available output even when each appliance could operate individually.

How it connects to a house
The key integration component is the EcoFlow Smart Home Panel 2. It acts as the electrical interface between the DELTA Pro Ultra and the home’s circuits, allowing the system to detect a grid outage and transfer supported loads to battery power.
A typical installation process is:
- Identify the circuits and appliances that must operate during an outage.
- Review the home’s service, panel arrangement, voltage, largest loads and available installation location.
- Install the Smart Home Panel 2 or other approved integration equipment.
- Connect the DELTA Pro Ultra and expansion batteries.
- Configure reserve levels, charging sources, priorities and operating modes in the EcoFlow app.
- Test grid-loss behavior and confirm that essential circuits transfer correctly.
This is residential electrical work, not a normal portable-power-station setup. A licensed electrician may be needed, and local permits, inspections, utility requirements and code rules can apply. The final installation price depends on the home’s wiring, panel configuration, distance to the equipment and any required upgrades. Do not attempt to wire the system into a service panel without qualified electrical help.

Portable, but not plug-and-play
The DELTA Pro Ultra occupies a middle ground:
- It is more modular and potentially more relocatable than a conventional wall-mounted battery.
- It is more capable of home integration than a typical portable power station.
- It still needs transfer equipment for automatic whole-home backup.
- Moving the battery does not eliminate the need for a suitable electrical connection at the new location.
That makes it attractive to homeowners who value modularity or may move later, but less attractive to anyone looking for a completely permanent, professionally integrated energy-storage system with no portable equipment involved.
How much capacity is enough?
A 6 kWh battery does not mean six hours of operation in every home. Runtime depends on the total load, inverter losses, battery reserve settings, temperature and whether solar or another source is recharging the system.
For illustration, a constant 1 kW load would theoretically use 6 kWh in six hours. Real household runtime will differ because loads cycle on and off and because usable AC energy is lower than the nameplate battery capacity. A refrigerator, lights, internet equipment and a furnace blower may consume much less over an hour than an electric resistance heater, heat pump or air conditioner.

- Large Capacity. Featuring a 3600Wh LFP battery capacity, DELTA Pro provides strong electrical storage for home battery backup power supply and outdoor camping. Applied with DELTA Pro Extra Batteries or Smart Generators, the electric generator can expand its capacity from 3.6kWh to 25kWh.
- Maximum Output Flexibility. A single DELTA Pro unit packs a 3600W AC output, which can be expanded up to 4500W with X-Boost technology. You can even pair two units together to achieve 7200W. Power 99.99% heavy-duty devices at home, outdoors, or at work. With 15 output methods: 2*USB-A, 2*USB-A Fast Charge, 2*USB-C (100W), 5*AC Outlets, 2*DC Outlets, 1 car power output and 1 Anderson port, the solar power station grants the ability to power multiple devices at the same time.
- X-Stream Fast Charging. Fully recharge the lifepo4 battery in 1.8 hrs with 240V outlets(3000W), 2.7 hrs with 1800W wall outlets or solar charged in 2.8 hours with 4*400W solar panels thanks to the industry-leading solar conversion efficiency of up to 23%. EcoFlow’s X-Stream charging technology isn't just fast, it's safe too with the battery management system.
- 5 Ways to Charge. Pick from EV station charging, solar, wall outlets, using the smart outdoor generator or via a car outlet. Faster than any other 3000 watt solar generator. Keep going for miles when your electric vehicle runs out of battery. Either at home or on the go, DELTA Pro will have you back on the road in no time.
- Smart App Control. Use the EcoFlow app via Wi-Fi or Bluetooth. Monitor the status of all your devices and power sources that are charging your portable power station. Check on charge level, temperature and charge/discharge times. Control from afar and customize all settings, such as battery life, input/output, and more. Break down your energy habits or customize your energy usage to fit your needs.
Additional batteries increase runtime; they do not automatically increase the inverter’s maximum instantaneous output. If the main problem is a large startup surge or several appliances operating together, more batteries alone may not solve it. More inverter capacity, load management or a different electrical configuration may be necessary.

What it may run
Depending on the selected configuration and connected circuits, homeowners may use the system for:
- Refrigeration, lighting and internet equipment
- Furnace or heat-pump blower circuits
- Sump and well pumps
- Electric ranges and other 240-volt equipment
- Central air conditioning, subject to starting requirements and EcoFlow’s stated conditions
- Other major loads, provided the combined demand stays within the system’s output and wiring limits
A “whole-home” design may still require load shedding or priorities. Homes with electric resistance heat, large heat pumps, multiple compressors, electric water heating or EV charging can require substantially more capacity than homes with gas heating and modest essential loads.
Solar can extend an outage—but does not guarantee continuous power
Solar changes the value proposition because it can recharge the batteries during an outage, reduce grid consumption during normal operation and extend backup beyond the stored energy alone.
It is not a guarantee of uninterrupted operation. Production falls at night and can be reduced by clouds, smoke, storms, winter conditions, shading and poor roof orientation. A system may run out of battery overnight even if the next day is expected to be sunny. Solar also has to be configured to operate during a grid outage; ordinary grid-tied solar does not necessarily continue producing when the grid is down.

On July 15, 2025, EcoFlow announced OCEAN Pro, which it described as its first fully integrated, multi-source U.S. home-energy system. OCEAN Pro is a different product category and should not be merged with DELTA Pro Ultra specifications or pricing.
In short: DELTA Pro Ultra emphasizes modular battery-generator hardware that can be integrated with a home; OCEAN Pro is positioned as a later, fully integrated multi-source home-energy system.
Battery backup versus a gas or propane generator
| Battery-based backup | Fuel generator |
|---|---|
| Quiet operation and no point-of-use combustion emissions | Combustion noise and exhaust require careful outdoor placement |
| Can recharge from solar when properly configured | Can operate as long as fuel is available |
| Useful for daily energy management as well as outages | Usually focused on outage protection |
| Finite runtime without recharge | Fuel logistics become the main long-outage constraint |
| High upfront equipment and installation cost | Also requires installation, fuel storage or delivery and maintenance |
The DELTA Pro Ultra is a strong candidate for homeowners who prioritize quiet operation, no on-site combustion, solar charging and modularity. A generator may be more practical for repeated, multi-day outages, especially in winter or during extended cloudy weather, or in a home with very large electric heating loads.
Who should consider it?
It may suit homeowners who:
- Want automatic backup for selected or whole-home circuits.
- Prefer quiet battery operation over combustion equipment.
- Have manageable critical loads and a clear understanding of runtime needs.
- Already have solar or plan to install a properly configured solar system.
- Value modularity or the possibility of relocating the equipment.
- Can obtain qualified installation and local permit approval.
It may be a poor fit for homeowners who:
- Need indefinite backup with no solar, fuel or other recharge source.
- Rely heavily on electric resistance heating or other very large loads.
- Expect a single base unit to run every appliance simultaneously.
- Are unwilling to budget for professional electrical work.
- Cannot obtain installer, permit or utility support in their area.
- Need a fixed, conventional home battery rather than modular equipment.
Pre-purchase checklist
- List the circuits that must operate during an outage.
- Record the running and starting requirements of air conditioners, pumps, furnaces, heat pumps and other motors.
- Confirm whether 240-volt loads are required.
- Decide whether the backup will cover the whole panel, selected circuits or managed loads.
- Estimate hours or days of required runtime—not just the desired kWh number.
- Get an electrician’s assessment of the service, panels, wiring, location and permits.
- Price batteries, inverters, Smart Home Panel hardware, installation and solar separately.
- Confirm the exact model’s warranty, certification, seller authorization and service process.
- Plan how the system will recharge during a long, cloudy outage.
- Require a commissioning test that simulates a grid outage.
Bottom line
The DELTA Pro Ultra is significant because it combines the modularity of a portable battery platform with the possibility of automatic whole-home electrical backup. But its practical value depends less on the headline 7.2 kW or 6 kWh figures than on the home’s load profile, transfer equipment, installation cost and recharge strategy.
It is not a plug-and-play replacement for a standby generator, and “whole-home” does not mean unlimited runtime. For a quiet, expandable system serving manageable loads—especially with solar—it may be compelling. For large electric-heating loads or long outages without reliable recharge, a conventional generator or permanently integrated battery system may be the better starting point.
