DJI unveiled its first robot-vacuum range, ROMO, on August 6, 2025—not August 6, 2026. The line includes three vacuum-and-mop models—ROMO S, ROMO A and ROMO P—with claimed suction of up to 25,000 Pa, LiDAR and vision-based obstacle sensing, automated mop washing and drying, and regional DJI Store availability.
ROMO is a genuine premium robot-vacuum launch, but its headline specifications do not yet prove that it outperforms established brands. Availability, warranty support, consumable costs and real-world cleaning performance should all be checked before buying.

What DJI launched on August 6, 2025
DJI’s first robot vacuum is not a single model but the DJI ROMO family. DJI describes ROMO as a three-model series consisting of the ROMO S, ROMO A and ROMO P. The company’s announcement identifies it as DJI’s first robot-vacuum line; launch-date coverage reported the August 6 announcement window in 2025.
The products combine vacuuming and mopping with an automated base station. Depending on the model and regional bundle, the dock can wash and dry mop components, collect debris and manage clean and dirty water. The official product comparison is available on DJI’s ROMO S store page.

DJI ROMO S vs. ROMO A vs. ROMO P
| Model | Positioning | Main differences |
|---|---|---|
| ROMO S | Standard model | White robot and white base station, shared 25,000-Pa headline suction, obstacle sensing, anti-tangle brushes and automated dock functions. |
| ROMO A | Advanced model | Transparent robot body and a bristle-rubber brush configuration; the base station remains white. See the UK ROMO A listing. |
| ROMO P | Premium model | Transparent robot and transparent base station, additional deodorizing features and a broader accessory bundle, including a deodorizer and bristle-rubber roller brush. See the ROMO P listing. |
All three models are presented with the same core sensing platform and the same maximum suction claim. The higher price of ROMO P therefore should not be interpreted as proof that it will clean every floor better than ROMO S. The official differences focus substantially on design, accessories, deodorizing and brush configuration.
Key ROMO specifications
- Up to 25,000 Pa suction: a manufacturer-stated maximum, not an independent performance result.
- Navigation: binocular fisheye vision sensors combined with wide-angle solid-state LiDAR.
- Edge cleaning: two extendable robotic arms intended to reach along walls and into corners.
- Brushes: dual anti-tangle roller brushes, with additional brush configurations on some models.
- Dock cleaning: DJI says the base station uses high-pressure water jets and a waste-suction port to clean the mop-washing area.
- Onboard water: a 164 mL tank.
- Cleaning modes: Vacuum & Mop, Vacuum, Mop, and Vacuum Then Mop.
- App control: custom cleaning plans can be created through the DJI Home app.
DJI says a full clean-water tank can mop approximately 200 square metres in Vacuum & Mop mode. Actual coverage depends on floor type, water usage, cleaning settings, room layout and firmware.
What is unusual about DJI’s design?
DJI is applying technology associated with drones and robotics to indoor navigation. ROMO combines LiDAR with binocular vision instead of relying on only one sensing method. DJI also highlights extendable edge-cleaning arms, which are intended to address the strip of floor that many robot vacuums leave beside walls and furniture.
The transparent bodies of ROMO A and ROMO P are mainly a visual distinction. They do not, by themselves, demonstrate better cleaning. They may also make dust, water marks and wear easier to see.

- Robot Vacuum Self-Emptying, App, Alexa & Google Assistant for Pet Hair, Carpet & Hard Floor
- Robot Vacuum and Mop for Hard Floor
- Robot Vacuum and Mop Combo for Pet Hair
DJI describes the ROMO dock’s high-pressure water-jet washboard system as a first of its kind. That is DJI’s own product claim, not an independently established industry ranking.
Obstacle sensing: capable, but not infallible
DJI advertises millimetre-level obstacle sensing under specified conditions. Its documentation qualifies that claim: performance depends on lighting and surface characteristics, including textured, non-specular surfaces with reflectivity above 20% and ambient light of at least 0.1 lux.
In practical terms, black glossy objects, mirrors, glass, transparent items and very thin obstacles may be harder to detect. Cables, socks, pet toys and low furniture remain sensible test cases for any robot vacuum. “Millimetre-level” should not be read as a guarantee that ROMO will never collide, miss an object or become stuck.

Owners will still need to refill water, empty or replace dust bags, clean filters, inspect brushes and mop pads, and maintain other components. DJI recommends using its official cleaning solution for performance and corrosion-prevention reasons. ROMO and its base station are not waterproof and should not be operated in wet areas.
The company also cites a controlled laboratory result of 0% hair entanglement using 1 gram of hair. DJI says real-world results vary. Long human hair, pet hair, threads and mixed debris can behave differently in a home.

Is DJI ROMO available in the United States?
DJI sells ROMO through several regional stores, including pages for Canada, the UK, Australia and European markets. The available evidence does not establish an official U.S. DJI Store listing or confirmed U.S. launch pricing.
U.S. buyers should verify a U.S.-specific product page, shipping destination, warranty terms and service eligibility before paying. Importing a regional unit can create problems with:

What the specifications do—and do not—prove
| DJI claim | What it means in practice |
|---|---|
| 25,000 Pa suction | A stated maximum suction figure. Pa ratings are not standardized proof of superior carpet cleaning, fine-dust pickup or pet-hair removal. |
| Millimetre-level sensing | Performance under specified lighting and surface conditions, not a promise of collision-free operation. |
| 200-day maintenance-free operation | Limited to the dock’s washboard claim; routine ownership maintenance still remains. |
| 0% hair entanglement | A 1-gram laboratory test result. Household hair and debris can produce different results. |
| Edge and corner coverage | An intended benefit of the extendable arms, not proof that every edge will be cleaned completely. |
Independent testing is still needed before declaring ROMO superior to established premium models from Roborock, Dreame, Ecovacs, Narwal or iRobot.

Who should consider ROMO?
ROMO is most interesting for buyers who want a premium vacuum-and-mop system, value automated dock functions and are attracted to DJI’s combined LiDAR-and-vision approach. The edge-cleaning arms may also appeal to homes where dust along walls is a persistent problem.
It may be a poor fit for buyers seeking a budget robot vacuum, a mature third-party smart-home ecosystem, easily available local service or a product that requires minimal ongoing ownership work. The most expensive ROMO P is not automatically the best choice: its premium mainly buys design, deodorizing and accessory differences shown in DJI’s comparison.
Before buying: check the home and the support situation
- Measure the dock location. Confirm cabinet clearance, floor space, an outlet and enough room for the robot to leave and return.
- Check thresholds. DJI’s manual identifies height differences above approximately 4 cm (1.6 inches) as a relevant limitation. Read the official manual for installation constraints.
- Identify sensitive flooring. Set room restrictions or vacuum-only schedules for rugs and surfaces that should not be wet-mopped.
- Remove problem obstacles. Cables, low objects, reflective items and clutter can defeat even advanced sensing.
- Price the consumables. Include cleaning solution, dust bags, filters, mop pads and replacement brushes in the ownership calculation.
- Confirm local support. Check warranty, returns, voltage, service and app-region compatibility before importing.
Common problems and recovery steps
- The robot misses an object: improve lighting and remove glossy, mirrored or transparent obstacles where possible.
- The robot repeatedly gets stuck: clear cables and low objects, adjust furniture clearance and create no-go zones.
- The mop leaves moisture where it should not: use Vacuum mode or configure carpet and room restrictions.
- The dock requires maintenance sooner than expected: remember that the 200-day statement applies only to the washboard under DJI’s conditions.
- App functions look different: firmware and regional features can change. DJI’s release notes document ongoing updates, including firmware V01.00.15 in April 2026.
- A replacement robot or dock is installed: DJI says the replacement components may need to be paired and the map rebuilt. Follow the official service instructions.
Verdict
DJI ROMO is a serious first entry into the robot-vacuum market, not a rumour or a single August 6 launch model. The S, A and P versions offer a distinctive combination of LiDAR, vision sensing, edge-cleaning arms and automated mopping docks. But 25,000 Pa suction, hair-testing results and maintenance claims are manufacturer claims—not a substitute for independent testing.

The sensible buying decision is to choose by regional warranty, total ownership cost, dock fit and floor layout first. Consider ROMO when official local availability is confirmed; do not import the premium model or choose it solely because its specification sheet has the largest numbers.
