Overview

FinitePath is a web-based construction scheduling platform that turns a static CPM schedule into a working model for planning, cost mapping, schedule compression and reporting. It recalculates forward and backward passes each time a schedule is saved, then reports critical paths, float bands and logic checks. That makes it relevant to teams that need to review not only activity dates, but also the relationships and constraints shaping the schedule.

Schedules can be imported from Primavera P6 XER or XML and Microsoft Project XML files. Excel BOQs can also be imported, with the importer carrying schedule calendars, relationships, constraints and cost assignments. FinitePath exports XER, XML and JSON. The company identifies itself as FinitePath AI Corporation, a Delaware corporation with operations in Fremont, California, and Hyderabad, India.

Key features

Schedule logic and scenario planning

On each save, FinitePath recalculates the schedule and checks for critical paths, float bands, dangling ends, loops and redundant links. Users can compare what-if scenarios and schedule-compression variants, then promote or discard them. A scenario does not change the baseline automatically, which keeps proposed revisions distinct from the schedule being used as the reference.

Cost, resources and delay analysis

Users can map Excel BOQ line items to schedule activities so cost and time sit in one model. Resource tools include crew-utilisation and overload alerts, time-phased histograms, and auto-levelling within available float. A project manager can override the levelling result.

For delay work, FinitePath describes calendar-accurate window analysis intended to distinguish employer and contractor delay. Baseline snapshots and comparisons support delay quantification, and the system can generate claims packs. These capabilities are aimed at schedule analysis and documentation; the available information does not specify the assumptions or review required for a particular claim.

AI assistance and reporting

Schedule chat responses cite the activities they use, while other AI features identify risk patterns and generate executive summaries. FinitePath says relevant project data may be sent to Anthropic for AI processing, but private project data is not used to train public models.

The platform generates an 18-page PDF executive schedule analysis report covering schedule health, critical and longest paths, float distribution, earned-value measures when the data supports them, and estimated recovery potential. If required values are missing or implausible, the report omits unsupported metrics and may show a diagnostic such as “NA · E205” instead. That is useful to know when preparing a report for others: a missing metric is not silently presented as a valid result.

The homepage also presents a PERT Builder as free and requiring no login. It can generate deterministic or AI-assisted outputs using sector templates. FinitePath lists critical-path analysis, Gantt charts, resource planning and schedule templates among its capabilities.

Pricing

FinitePath is listed as freemium, with a free plan. Its terms say a free trial may be offered, but do not give a duration or confirm whether one is currently available. No paid-plan prices or limits are specified here, so teams should confirm current terms directly before budgeting.

Platforms

FinitePath runs on the web. It supports importing Primavera P6 XER or XML, Microsoft Project XML and Excel BOQs, and lists XER, XML and JSON as export formats.

Who it's for

FinitePath describes learning paths for students and early-career schedulers, as well as workflows for superintendents and engineers working with live schedules and planners or executives building a baseline. Its terms say the service is intended for business and professional use. For homeowners planning a renovation, it is therefore more relevant when a contractor or project team is managing a detailed construction schedule than as a homeowner-focused planning tool.

The company says it uses encryption in transit, access controls and multi-tenant data isolation. AWS provides hosting, Stripe payment processing, Google authentication and Anthropic AI processing. For support, FinitePath says it replies within one business day and lists fp@finitepath.com for inquiries.

Pros and cons

Pros: Recalculates CPM passes and checks schedule logic on each save.
Pros: Connects BOQ costs to activities and includes resource, delay-analysis and scenario-planning tools.
Pros: Offers detailed PDF reporting while flagging unsupported metrics rather than presenting them as reliable figures.
Cons: The available pricing information gives no paid-plan prices, feature limits or trial duration.
Cons: AI processing may send relevant project data to Anthropic, a consideration for teams handling sensitive project information.

Alternatives

Verdict

FinitePath is built for teams that need more than a static programme: it combines CPM recalculation and logic checks with cost mapping, resource planning, delay analysis and controlled schedule scenarios. Its report diagnostics and baseline-preserving approach to what-if changes are practical details for professional workflows. The free plan is a straightforward starting point, but pricing beyond it and the terms of any trial are not specified. Contractors should confirm those details and review the AI data-handling terms against their project requirements before adopting it.
