Overview

PRO Landscape+ brings landscape design, visual presentations, material takeoffs, estimating, and proposals together in one subscription platform. Drafix Software says it has developed PRO Landscape for the professional landscape industry since 1994. The software supports both photo-based designs and scaled CAD plans, so contractors can prepare a visual concept from a property photo or work from a measured drawing.

For photo design, users can build before-and-after presentations from customer property photos with a library of more than 19,000 images. CAD tools produce scaled drawings and material takeoffs from an object library; the maker says they do not require prior CAD knowledge. Users can turn those drawings into 3D renderings, rotate views, and create walkthrough movies. The software also includes terrain modeling, planting plans, plant and irrigation design, and night and holiday lighting designs.

Key features

Photo presentations and design

Photo imaging lets a contractor show proposed landscape changes in the context of a customer’s property. Built-in AI tools are described as enhancing presentations while retaining the original design, plant choices, and layout. The image library contains more than 19,000 images.

CAD drawings and takeoffs

CAD tools create scaled landscape drawings and material takeoffs. Users can import and export CAD files in DWG, DXF, and PDF formats using RealDWG. The listed import formats also include surveys, plot plans, and Google Earth images.

Estimating and proposals

PRO Landscape+ can generate estimates from photo or CAD plans using the user’s prices and tax rate. That connects the design and takeoff work to estimates and proposals within the same platform.

3D and lighting

Scaled CAD drawings can be rendered in 3D, with views that users can rotate and turn into walkthrough movies. Separate tools support night and holiday lighting designs.

Mobile companion

A Companion app for iPad and Android tablets is included with a PRO Landscape+ subscription. Designs can be transferred between a tablet and computer, allowing the mobile app to work alongside the desktop software.

Pricing

PRO Landscape+ is paid software, starting at $75/user/mo (annual). There is no free plan. The listed subscription covers one user and one computer, plus the Companion app on one iPad or Android tablet. The maker says purchases are not refundable.

Platforms

The desktop application requires 64-bit Windows 10 or Windows 11, at least 6 GB of RAM, and 15 GB of available disk space. The Companion app is available for iPad and Android tablets. The license manager allows a user to switch between two computers, but a license is for one user and one computer at a time.

PRO Landscape+ is a Windows application. The maker describes running it on a Mac through Parallels Desktop with Windows 10 or 11, but does not support that configuration.

Who it's for

The maker identifies landscape contractors, designers, architects, garden centers, and educators as its intended users. Contractors preparing designs and estimates can draw on the photo, CAD, takeoff, and proposal tools together, while designers and architects can use scaled plans and 3D presentations. The photo-design tools may also help communicate proposed changes to homeowners planning landscaping work.

Pros and cons

Pros: Photo design, scaled CAD drawings, takeoffs, estimates, proposals, 3D presentations, and lighting designs are combined in one platform.
Pros: The subscription includes the Companion app, software updates and upgrades, online training seminars, and phone or email support.
Pros: CAD file support includes DWG, DXF, and PDF, alongside survey, plot plan, and Google Earth image imports.
Cons: The desktop application requires Windows; Mac use through Parallels is not supported by the maker.
Cons: Each license is limited to one user, one computer, and the Companion app on one tablet, with no refunds for purchases.

Alternatives

Verdict

PRO Landscape+ is a broad landscape design and estimating platform for professionals who want photo presentations, scaled drawings, material takeoffs, and proposals in one subscription. Its 3D walkthroughs, lighting designs, mobile Companion app, and included training and support add useful scope. The main constraints are the Windows desktop requirement, the per-user license limits, and the maker’s no-refund policy. Contractors and designers who need the full design-to-estimate workflow may find that combination relevant; Mac users should note that the maker does not support its suggested Parallels configuration.
