Overview

Build Method is construction management software for contractors, builders and remodelers who want project coordination, financial workflows and customer communication in one system. Its combination of job tools and client and vendor portals makes it a strong fit for teams managing several parties through a build or renovation. The trade-off is a paid, annually billed entry plan with a short trial that requires a payment card.

Key features

Project management covers tasks, schedules, daily logs, stored documents, team communication, inspections and punch lists. That range can keep day-to-day job coordination alongside project records; secure document sharing is also a practical safeguard when information needs to reach clients or subcontractors.

Financial tools span estimating, budgets, purchase orders, expenses, invoicing and customer payments. Rather than stopping at schedule tracking, Build Method connects project work with the money and purchasing tasks contractors handle around it. QuickBooks, Xero and Google Calendar integrations are available across every plan.

The client portal lets customers review selections, approve changes, pay invoices and follow project progress. Subcontractors get a separate portal for bid requests, purchase orders, schedules, documents and updates. Those portals can reduce the need to relay every decision or job change individually, particularly when a project involves several trades and an engaged homeowner.

A mobile app and access from any device suit teams moving between the office and job sites. Support includes guided onboarding and training resources, email replies within 24 hours, and weekday live chat from 8am to 6pm MST.

Pricing

There is no free plan. All paid tiers include all features, unlimited projects, unlimited customers and unlimited vendors; the meaningful difference between the standard plans is the number of users.

1 User: 99.00 USD per month, billed $1,188.00 USD Annually. This is the entry point for a solo operator who needs the full feature set, but it leaves no additional user seat for an employee.
2 Users: 149.00 USD per month, billed Annual (Save 20%). A small two-person operation gets the same tools with one additional seat.
4 Users: 199.00 USD per month, billed Annual (Save 20%). This tier suits a compact team that needs several office or field users without moving to a larger package.
6 Users: 299.00 USD per month, billed Annual (Save 20%). Choose it when six people need access; the features and project, customer and vendor allowances remain the same.
10 Users: 399.00 USD per month, billed Annual (Save 20%). This is the largest stated standard tier for a growing team.
Enterprise: custom pricing, with unlimited users and advanced onboarding. It is the route for larger teams that exceed the ten-user tiers.

The 14-day trial requires billing information at signup. The card is not charged until the trial ends, and users can cancel anytime. That gives prospective customers two weeks to assess the service, but the required card and annual billing terms are worth accounting for before starting.

Platforms

Build Method is available on web, Android and iOS, with mobile app access for teams working away from a desk.

Who it's for

The maker serves general contractors, home builders, remodelers, trades and service professionals, and commercial contractors. It is especially well suited to a contractor who wants project scheduling and records tied to estimating and billing, while giving clients and subcontractors dedicated ways to follow the job. A solo contractor can use the one-user tier, but the annual commitment and absence of a free plan make it less appealing to someone who only needs occasional project tracking or wants to start without a card.

Pros and cons

Pro: Every tier includes all features, so smaller teams do not lose access to financial tools, portals or integrations by choosing a lower seat count.
Pro: Unlimited projects, customers and vendors across the standard plans avoid per-job caps as a contractor's workload grows.
Pro: Separate client and vendor portals support approvals, payments, bid requests and project updates without limiting the product to internal task tracking.
Con: The entry plan is annual billing at 99.00 USD per month and covers one user only, which may be restrictive for a two-person operation.
Con: There is no free plan, and the trial requires payment details, so it is not a no-commitment option for evaluating basic workflows.

Alternatives

Remodeling contractor software is a useful starting point for comparing tools across the category.

BuildBook is worth considering if a free plan matters: it is freemium, offers a free plan and trial, and its Solo plan is 79.00 USD per mo.
ProBuilder OS is another paid option with a trial and Android, iOS and web access. Its Solo plan is 49.00 USD per month for one office user and up to five field users.
Workhand may suit a contractor who wants to begin on a free tier; its Free plan costs 0.00 USD per month and allows one active job and one teammate, with three estimates and three invoices per month.
Wunderbuild is a paid alternative with a trial; its Starter plan is 123.00 AUD per month for one active project, all features and unlimited users.
Buildxact has a free Go tier with five complimentary credits, AI estimating, professional proposals and Home Depot material ordering, making it relevant to readers focused on estimating and proposals.
Houzz offers a free plan with a 3D Floor Planner, estimates and invoicing, an option for readers whose priority is those tools rather than Build Method's broader contractor and vendor workflows.
JobTread is a paid alternative with a monthly plan priced at 20.00 USD per month; tiered price breaks begin after ten users.
Ressio is another paid option available on Android, iOS and web.

Verdict

Build Method is a compelling choice for contractors who need project, financial and portal workflows together and can commit to annual billing. Its all-features-included tiers and uncapped projects, customers and vendors make seat count the central pricing decision. Look elsewhere if you need a free plan, a less card-dependent trial, or an entry option without an annual commitment.
