Best Wi-Fi Dehumidifiers: Stay Dry and Connected With These Top Picks

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

For most damp basements, the Midea Cube 50-Pint with Built-In Pump (MAD50PS1QWT) is the strongest all-around choice. It combines high rated capacity, flexible drainage, remote monitoring, and voice-assistant control. Choose the GE AWHR50LB instead if broad SmartHQ integrations matter most, or the Midea Cube 20-Pint (MAD20S1QWT) for a smaller room.

Capacity and drainage matter more than Wi-Fi. A connected dehumidifier can tell you when humidity rises or the bucket is full, but it will not remove moisture better simply because it has an app.

Best overall: Midea Cube 50-Pint with Built-In Pump

The Midea Cube MAD50PS1QWT is the most practical pick for a damp basement or garage where the drain is higher than the appliance. Midea lists a 50-pints-per-day rating, advertised coverage up to 4,500 square feet, a built-in pump, continuous-drain capability, wheels, and a nested or extended Cube design.

#1 Best Overall
Frigidaire 50 Pint Dehumidifier w/Wifi
  • EASY TO CLEAN WASHABLE FILTER: Capture dust from the air and keep your dehumidifier working efficiently with our easy-to-clean washable filter.
  • CUSTOM HUMIDITY CONTROL: Maximize your comfort with customized control over the amount of humidity in your room.
  • EASY TO CLEAN WASHABLE FILTER: Capture dust from the air and keep your dehumidifier working efficiently with our easy-to-clean washable filter.

The pump can send collected water upward to a sink, window, or elevated drain. That is more useful for unattended operation than a large bucket alone. The SmartHome app provides remote monitoring and adjustment, while Midea lists voice-assistant control. Check the exact U.S. product page and manual for the controls available on your model, since app functions can vary by firmware and region.

Skip this model if a nearby floor drain permits a simple downhill gravity hose and you prefer fewer components to maintain. In that situation, the non-pump MAD50S1QWT may be the simpler choice.

Best smart-home integration: GE AWHR50LB

The GE AWHR50LB is the better fit for households already using SmartHQ or wanting a longer list of advertised integrations. GE lists built-in Wi-Fi, remote feedback and alerts through SmartHQ, Smart Dry, and compatibility with Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant, IFTTT, Nest, Sonos, and Fresco on the cited product page.

GE displayed a price of $195 versus $319 during the research pass on August 16, 2026. Treat that as a dated promotional signal, not a current-price promise. GE sells closely related models, including pump and non-pump variants, so verify the complete model number, pump status, and ENERGY STAR listing before checkout.

Best compact pick: Midea Cube 20-Pint

The Midea Cube MAD20S1QWT suits a bedroom, apartment, office, or smaller damp room. Midea advertises coverage up to 1,500 square feet and gives this smaller unit the Cube’s space-conscious nested design, wheels, SmartHome app, and voice-assistant-device control.

DR.PREPARE 3500 Sq.Ft Dehumidifier, Max 65 Pints, Smart Dehumidifier with App/Wi-Fi for Basement, Bedroom with Drain Hose, Intelligent Humidity Control, Dry Clothes, Sleep Mode, 24H Timer
  • 65 Pint Moisture Removal for Large Spaces - DR.PREPARE compressor dehumidifier removes up to 65 pints of moisture per day at 95°F, 90% RH. Designed for spaces up to 3500 sq.ft, it helps control excess moisture in basements, bedrooms, bathrooms, laundry rooms, kitchens, garages, living rooms and RVs.
  • 3 Modes for Everyday Use - Choose Auto mode to maintain your selected humidity level, Continuous mode for faster moisture removal and clothes drying, or Sleep mode for quiet overnight operation. The 38 dB sleep setting helps reduce disturbance in bedrooms and living areas. For best performance, keep doors and windows closed while running.
  • Drain Hose Included for Hands-Free Drainage - Use the 4.5L water tank for manual drainage, or connect the included drain hose for continuous drainage in basements, bathrooms and laundry rooms. For daily use, hose drainage is recommended to help avoid frequent emptying. When the tank is full, the unit stops automatically and the indicator light reminds you.
  • WiFi App and Touch Panel Control - Control the dehumidifier remotely through the Smart Life app or directly from the touch panel. Set target humidity, adjust fan speed, program the 24H timer, activate child lock and manage daily settings with ease. Auto humidity control starts and stops operation to help maintain your selected comfort level.
  • Easy to Move and Maintain - Built-in handle and four 360° casters make it easy to move between rooms. The removable water tank and washable filter help simplify routine cleaning. For best performance, keep the unit upright and let it stand for 24 hours before first use to support proper internal balance and long-term reliability.

A 20-pint unit is not the sensible default for a persistently wet basement, laundry area, or large divided space. A larger unit—or multiple units positioned in separate problem areas—will usually be more appropriate.

Other models worth checking

GE APHL50LB: This is the GE option to investigate when you need a built-in pump as well as SmartHQ and Smart Dry. Confirm current stock, ENERGY STAR status, warranty, and discharge requirements for the exact SKU.

Frigidaire Wi-Fi models: Frigidaire lists 35-pint and 50-pint Wi-Fi Energy Star models on its dehumidifier page. The cited page is Canadian, and the available information is not sufficient to name a specific U.S. model as a top pick. Verify the U.S. model number, pump configuration, app features, warranty, and retailer availability before buying.

What Wi-Fi actually adds

Depending on the model, a connected dehumidifier may provide:

  • Remote start and stop.
  • Humidity readings and target-humidity adjustment.
  • Full-bucket, missing-bucket, or maintenance alerts.
  • Schedules and operating modes.
  • Voice-assistant commands.
  • Status checking while you are away.

Wi-Fi does not guarantee that every control appears in the app. Confirm whether the exact model exposes humidity readings, schedules, fan settings, and alerts. Also check whether schedules depend on the manufacturer’s cloud.

Choose the capacity before the app

Portable dehumidifiers are commonly described by the number of pints of water they are rated to remove in 24 hours. The appropriate capacity depends on both area and starting conditions. ENERGY STAR advises considering room size and dampness and says oversizing is generally preferable to undersizing. See its dehumidifier buying guidance.

  • Bedroom or apartment: Start with a compact model such as the 20-pint Cube when the moisture problem is limited and localized.
  • Damp basement or garage: A 50-pint class unit is the more useful starting point, especially where humidity remains high or drainage must be continuous.
  • Large open area: A 50-pint class unit may be suitable, but do not assume the manufacturer’s maximum square-footage claim applies evenly across rooms.
  • Divided or closed-off home: One portable appliance may not control humidity behind closed doors. Multiple units can be more practical.

A “50-pint” label is not a complete performance comparison. Check test conditions, Integrated Energy Factor, annual energy consumption, low-temperature operation, tank size, and drainage. The ENERGY STAR product finder exposes several of these fields.

Pump versus gravity drainage

Drainage type Best when Advantages Risks
Gravity hose The unit can sit above a floor drain and the hose can run continuously downhill Simpler, quieter, and fewer parts to fail Kinks, high spots, leaks, blocked outlets, or an insufficient drop can stop drainage
Built-in pump Water must travel upward to a sink, window, or elevated drain Enables more flexible unattended placement Pump clogs, discharge-height limits, hose problems, and added maintenance
Bucket Short-term or occasional use No hose installation Requires emptying; a full-bucket shutoff does not solve a drainage failure

“Continuous drainage” does not necessarily mean “pump included.” Verify the exact model number. Midea specifically distinguishes its pump and non-pump Cube models.

Wi-Fi setup and outage behavior

  1. Install the manufacturer’s app and create or access the required account.
  2. Put the dehumidifier into pairing mode using the exact model’s manual.
  3. Connect it to the home network and name it by room.
  4. Confirm that remote humidity and status readings appear.
  5. Test an alert, if supported.
  6. Test control while your phone is off the local Wi-Fi network.

Basements can have weak wireless signals. Pairing can also fail because of the wrong model selection, an incompatible network band, guest-network restrictions, router isolation, disabled app permissions, incorrect pairing mode, or a firmware or cloud issue. The exact requirements belong to the model manual; Midea’s smart-dehumidifier documentation, for example, identifies a smartphone, wireless router, and smart dehumidifier as required components.

Rank #4
Midea 22 Pint Dehumidifier for Basement, 1,500 Sq. Ft, Energy star
  • 1,500 SQ. FT. DEHUMIDIFIER – Removes up to 22 pints of moisture per day with an adjustable humidity setting from 35% to 85%. Perfect for use in basement, bathroom, bedroom, office, kitchen, cellar, or crawlspace. Maintain a healthy 45%-55% humidity range.
  • ULTRA QUIET OPERAION – This model has quiet operation as 47 dBA. Enjoy sleep, a good book, or your favorite show without the disturbing noise of a traditional dehumidifier.
  • ENERGY STAR CERTIFIED- This unit is ENERGY STAR Certified and saves 31% energy when compared to traditional dehumidifiers.
  • SMART CONTROL -This dehumidifier is Wi-Fi enabled and can be controlled from anywhere through the cloud using the SmartHome app on iOS or Android. You can also use voice commands throughout your house, office, or apartment using Alexa or Google Assistant.
  • SIMPLE DRAINAGE – Simply empty the water tank when it is full or connect a standard hose (not included) to the built-in socket for continuous draining. The dehumidifier automatically stops with a full water tank and restarts after the tank is emptied.

Check what happens when Wi-Fi, the cloud, the app, or household power fails. Confirm whether manual controls still work, whether the setpoint survives an interruption, whether the unit resumes its previous state, and whether alerts are delayed. Do not assume a smart plug is a safe substitute: it provides basic power control but not humidity readings, and the appliance’s power-restoration behavior must be verified.

Noise, placement, and cold basements

All compressor dehumidifiers produce some fan and compressor noise. Basement floors can amplify vibration. Place the unit level, leave clearance around the intake and exhaust, keep it away from walls and furniture, and leave enough room to remove the bucket and filter. Use the manual’s clearance and temperature guidance.

Cold, unheated basements deserve special caution. Refrigeration-based units can behave differently as temperatures fall and may rely on automatic defrost. A large square-footage rating alone does not prove that a model is suitable for winter operation. Independent testing can help with noise and performance comparisons, but a general ranking is not automatically a Wi-Fi-specific ranking; RTINGS’ testing coverage is one example.

Humidity targets and persistent moisture

Use the built-in sensor as a guide, but consider a separate hygrometer if sensor placement or accuracy is uncertain. A practical setting is usually somewhere in the middle of a comfortable indoor humidity range rather than the lowest possible number. Extremely low settings can increase runtime and energy use.

If humidity stays high despite continuous operation, investigate water intrusion, foundation leaks, open windows or doors, unsealed ductwork, bathroom or dryer exhaust, blocked airflow, a dirty filter or coil, incorrect drainage, low operating temperature, and capacity mismatch. A dehumidifier is not a substitute for repairing leaks or controlling bulk water.

Maintenance checklist

  • Inspect or empty the bucket, even when using a hose or pump.
  • Clean the air filter as directed by the manual.
  • Remove dust from grilles.
  • Inspect gravity hoses for kinks, algae, debris, and leaks.
  • Check pump intake and discharge lines on pump models.
  • Keep the appliance level.
  • Investigate leaks rather than relying on full-bucket shutoff.
  • Store the unit dry and upright during long periods of nonuse.

Humidity control can reduce conditions favorable to mold, but a dehumidifier does not remove existing mold or solve every indoor-air-quality problem.

Portable unit or whole-home system?

Portable Wi-Fi dehumidifiers are for localized control. A whole-home dehumidifier is typically a permanent, duct-connected installation that requires sizing and often professional installation. ENERGY STAR explains the distinction in its product guidance. Do not interpret a portable model’s advertised coverage number as equivalent to a ducted whole-home system.

ENERGY STAR says certified dehumidifiers use approximately 20% less energy than comparable conventional models, and its current specification effective date is October 1, 2025. Use certification as a baseline filter, then compare the other ownership factors.

Decision tree

  • Need water lifted upward? Choose a pump model, preferably the Midea Cube MAD50PS1QWT or GE APHL50LB after confirming specifications.
  • Have a convenient floor drain? Choose a gravity-drain model if simplicity matters more than pump flexibility.
  • Need broad advertised integrations? Start with the GE AWHR50LB and verify the exact SmartHQ features.
  • Controlling a bedroom or small apartment? Consider the Midea Cube MAD20S1QWT.
  • Only need basic humidity control? A non-Wi-Fi ENERGY STAR unit may be better value.
  • Trying to control an entire ducted home? Compare whole-home systems with a qualified installer instead of relying on a portable unit.
