For a smaller household or a simpler meal, a single-basket model can be the better buy.
The best air fryer for a household that regularly cooks two foods at once is the Ninja Foodi DZ550: it has two independently controlled baskets, a 10-quart total capacity, Smart Finish timing, and an integrated temperature probe. It is not the default best choice for everyone. A compact single basket is more sensible for one or two people, while an unequal dual-drawer model is better when dinner is usually a larger main plus a smaller side.
Choose the layout before the brand
| If you usually need… | Best layout | Good fit |
|---|---|---|
| One simple batch, a small counter, or one to two diners | Single basket | Ninja Pro AF141 or COSORI TurboBlaze |
| Two dishes with different times or temperatures | Two equal, independent baskets | Ninja Foodi DZ550 |
| A large main plus a smaller side | Unequal dual drawers | Philips 3000 Series Dual-Basket Airfryer NA351_00 (U.S.) |
| Usually one batch but occasionally two smaller foods | Convertible divided basket | Ninja DZ071 |
| Visual checks without opening the drawer | Window or glass-chamber model | Dreo ChefMaker or COSORI Iconic, depending on regional SKU |
| Frequent thick proteins where doneness timing matters | Probe-equipped model | Ninja Foodi DZ550 or Typhur Sync |
Two zones are useful when they solve a real timing problem: chicken in one drawer and vegetables in another, separate meat and vegetarian food, or two foods that need different temperatures. They also take more counter room. A flexible divider is a worthwhile middle ground, but it does not isolate food as completely as two separate baskets; some heat transfer between sides is still possible.

Best air fryers of 2026
1. Ninja Foodi DZ550 — best performance-led choice for large households and two concurrent dishes
The Ninja Foodi DZ550 is the strongest pick when independent dual zones are the reason you are buying an air fryer. RTINGS identifies it as its best-tested air fryer and reports 10 quarts total capacity, two 49.7-square-inch baskets, Smart Finish synchronization, fast cooking and preheating, and a built-in temperature probe. Its measured maximum power draw is 1,510 W, with a reported fan-speed range of 1,100–2,900 RPM.
That combination is practical rather than decorative. Each basket can follow its own temperature and time, while Smart Finish is designed to coordinate the end time. The probe is particularly convenient for a thick cut of meat, though it does not replace correct placement of an instant-read food thermometer or food-safety guidance.

- 𝘾𝙖𝙥𝙖𝙘𝙞𝙩𝙮 𝙐𝙥𝙜𝙧𝙖𝙙𝙚: The 6-quart square basket offers a wide, deep design, great for the entire family meals while saving you space on your kitchen counter or cabinet
Choose it if: you regularly cook a main and side together, make two similar-sized batches, or need the extra capacity of truly separate drawers.
Know before buying: it has a substantial countertop footprint and premium positioning. Measure the place where it will operate, not merely the storage spot. The 2025 Ninja recall concerns OP300-series multifunction pressure cookers and their pressure-cooking lid; it does not identify the DZ550.

The Ninja Pro AF141 is the uncomplicated choice for a small household that prioritizes speed and a roomy single cooking surface. RTINGS describes its 5.1-quart basket as suitable for roughly two to three people and measures 64.9 square inches of basket surface—unusually generous for a compact-format machine. Its four modes are Air Fry, Roast, Reheat, and Dehydrate.
Choose it if: most meals are one protein, vegetables, fries, or reheated leftovers, and you do not need separate zones.

- SHAKE NOTIFICATIONS: Get notified with an audible alarm halfway through cooking, reminding you to shake your food for the crispiest results possible
Know before buying: it is less versatile and somewhat less even in RTINGS’ testing than higher-tier picks. It is a focused, fast air fryer, not a substitute for an oven-style appliance with many low-airflow baking options.
3. COSORI TurboBlaze — best value-oriented single basket
The TurboBlaze is a strong option for buyers who want a wide, square cooking basket and broad controls without moving to a dual-zone machine. RTINGS’ tested version produced crisp, even frying results and had 75.5 square inches of usable basket surface; it lists that unit at 6.3 quarts.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteThe important caveat is baking. RTINGS found temperature stability weaker at its high fan behavior because rapidly moving air can pass the heating element too quickly. That does not make it a poor air fryer—it means it is a better fit for crisping and roasting than for buyers who expect reliable cake- or bake-style performance.
Choose it if: crisping performance and a broad single-layer surface matter more than a second zone or probe.

- AIR CRISP TECHNOLOGY: 400℉ superheated air surrounds food for hot, crispy results with little to no oil.
- 4-IN-1 FUNCTIONALITY: Features 4 customizable cooking functions—Air Fry, Roast, Reheat, and Dehydrate for maximum versatility. A powerful1750-watt air fryer that’s built for everyday use.
- LARGE CAPACITY: The 5-QT nonstick basket and crisper plate fit up to 4 lbs of French fries or 5 lbs of chicken wings.
- GUILT-FREE FRIED FOODS: Up to 75% less fat than traditional air frying methods. Tested against hand-cut, deep-fried French fries.
- FROZEN TO CRISPY: Cook frozen foods in just minutes for an extra-crispy finish.
Know before buying: verify the exact U.S. retail model before ordering. COSORI’s current documentation identifies a U.S. TurboBlaze 6.0-quart model as CAF-DC601-KUS, while the independently tested version is described as 6.3 quarts. Do not assume every product called “TurboBlaze” has the same capacity, coating, connected features, or manual.
4. Philips 3000 Series Dual-Basket Airfryer NA351_00 — best for a main plus a smaller side in the U.S.
The U.S. Philips NA351_00 is especially well matched to the common dinner pattern of a larger main and a smaller side. Its official U.S. listing specifies a 6 L main drawer and a 3 L smaller drawer, separately adjustable time and temperature, finish synchronization, eight presets, 120 V operation, and removable dishwasher-safe parts.
Choose it if: you want one substantial drawer for a main dish and one smaller drawer for vegetables, snacks, or a one-person portion.
Know before buying: it is not automatically superior to equal dual baskets. If you often cook two similarly sized batches, a symmetrical design such as the DZ550 may use space more effectively. The official U.S. dimensions are 15 inches deep, 17.4 inches wide, and 12.3 inches high, so width deserves a tape-measure check. The related NA350/00 and U.S. NA351_00 are regional model identifiers; do not treat their voltage, capacity labels, accessories, or listings as interchangeable.

- SEPARATE HEATING ZONES: 2 independent 4-quart zones have their own cooking baskets, cyclonic fans, and rapid heaters.
- EASY CLEANING: Easy-to-clean baskets and dishwasher-safe crisper plates.
5. Ninja DZ071 — best convertible divided-basket compromise
For shoppers who do not want two permanent drawers, the Ninja DZ071 provides a 7.1-quart basket that can be divided for two foods or opened for one larger batch. This format saves some of the commitment of a true dual-basket design.
Choose it if: split-zone cooking is occasional and a larger uninterrupted basket is often more useful.

Comparison at a glance
| Model | Best for | Layout and stated/tested capacity | Notable evidence-backed feature | Main limitation |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Ninja Foodi DZ550 | Large households; two recipes at once | Two independent baskets; 10 qt total | Smart Finish, probe; 49.7 sq in per basket in RTINGS testing | Large counter demand |
| Ninja Pro AF141 | Compact, simple cooking | Single basket; 5.1 qt | 64.9 sq in single-basket surface in RTINGS testing | Less versatile and less even than top-tier options |
| COSORI TurboBlaze | Value-focused crisping | Single basket; capacity depends on exact SKU | Wide square basket; 75.5 sq in in RTINGS’ 6.3-qt tested version | Not the best baking choice |
| Philips NA351_00 (U.S.) | Large main plus smaller side | 6 L + 3 L drawers; 120 V | Independently set drawers and synchronized finish | Unequal drawers; 17.4 in width |
| Ninja DZ071 | Occasional split-zone cooking | Convertible divided basket; 7.1 qt | Divider can be removed for a larger batch | Less isolation than separate baskets |
Surface area is often more revealing than quart count. Air frying works best when moving hot air can reach the food, so a wide square basket may give better crisping room than a taller basket with a similar volume. As a practical starting point, RTINGS suggests looking for at least 4 quarts and about 50 square inches of surface area. That is not a serving-size guarantee: food shape, batch depth, and whether food is arranged in a single layer matter just as much.

Feature-led alternatives are not automatic upgrades
Independent testing and food-lab coverage do not produce the same universal winner, which is useful information. RTINGS’ windowed pick is the Dreo ChefMaker. A Drexel Food Lab evaluation reported by The Guardian selected the COSORI Iconic 6.5Q as its overall winner, while also highlighting the Typhur Sync for probe-led meat cooking and the Ninja Crispi for casual use. Tom’s Guide separately favors the Ninja Pro AF141 overall and identifies Philips 3000 Dual Zone, Dreo ChefMaker, Ninja Crispi, and COSORI Iconic for different needs.
Those results reflect different test protocols, formats, models, and priorities. RTINGS uses a standardized bench that considers frying quality, speed, capacity, versatility, surface area, fan speed, and power draw. The Drexel project tested 10 models over roughly two months and assessed heating, noise, and crispness; its fries testing used standardized time and temperature plus texture analysis. Tom’s Guide uses extended home-oriented cooking, including bacon, chicken, and fries, to identify preheat behavior, capacity, crisping, and hot spots.
The practical lesson is simple: buy a window because you value visual checks, a glass chamber because you prefer that format, or a probe because it helps with thick proteins. None of those features alone proves superior crisping. Likewise, a preset is a shortcut, not a guarantee: load size, food thickness, time, and temperature still determine the result.
Before you buy: four checks that prevent most regrets
- Measure the operating counter space. Include the location required by the exact manual, room to open drawers, and overhead cabinet clearance. Exterior dimensions do not establish safe operating clearance.
- Decide whether you truly need two zones. A single wide basket is usually easier for a simple one-food batch. Choose dual drawers for independently timed dishes, not just because the total quart number is larger.
- Confirm the regional SKU, voltage, and included parts. Model names can look nearly identical across countries. For example, the U.S. Philips NA351_00 is specified for 120 V, which cannot be assumed for an international version. Check the retailer listing against the manufacturer’s manual and model label.
- Do not infer material or cleaning claims. Confirm the exact part and SKU before relying on dishwasher-safe, coating, app, PFAS-free, or “non-toxic” language. A claim made for one regional version or removable part may not apply across an entire product line.
Safe use, cleaning, and recall checks
- Do not overcrowd the basket. A packed, deep pile blocks airflow and produces less even browning; cook in batches when crispness matters.
- For raw poultry, use a food thermometer in the thickest portion and verify 165°F. A browned or crisp exterior is not proof of safe internal doneness.
- Use only accessories the exact model manual permits. Electrical requirements, clearance, cleaning methods, and compatible pans vary by model and region.
- Let the appliance cool, then clean it according to its manual. “Dishwasher-safe parts” does not mean every component is dishwasher safe.
- Before buying used, accepting a hand-me-down, or continuing to use an older unit, match the label’s model number to current official recall notices.
Recall scope matters. The 2025 Ninja notice is for OP300-series multifunction pressure cookers and instructs owners to stop using pressure cooking; the cited notice says air frying may continue after the stated remedy process. It is not a blanket Ninja air-fryer recall. The 2024 Insignia recall covers NS-AF34D2, NS-AF5DSS2, NS-AF5MSS2, NS-AF8DBD2, NS-AF10DBK2, and NS-AF10DSS2, citing overheating and handle issues, plus shattered glass in oven units. The 2023 COSORI recall covers specifically listed 3.7- and 5.8-quart models, not every COSORI appliance. Check the official notice rather than relying on a brand name or a retailer description.
Which one should you buy?
Buy the Ninja Foodi DZ550 if two independently controlled, similarly sized cooking zones will make weeknight meals easier and you have the counter space. Buy the Ninja Pro AF141 for straightforward small-household cooking. Choose the COSORI TurboBlaze for a value-oriented single basket with a broad frying surface, provided baking is not your priority and you verify the SKU. Choose the Philips NA351_00 in the U.S. when your normal meal is a larger main plus a smaller side.
Skip the search for a universal “best” and match the layout to the food you actually cook. That choice will affect everyday results more than an extra preset or a headline capacity number.
The Bottom Line
Best overall for the right buyer: Ninja Foodi DZ550 for true dual-zone cooking. For smaller households, a single wide basket such as the Ninja Pro AF141 is usually the more practical purchase.
