Construction has officially begun on Sukh-er Khamar Agro Village in Bagail village, Kahaloo Upazila, near Bogura, Bangladesh. The October 10, 2026 inauguration marks the start of a project planned to bring working agriculture, visitor facilities and rural enterprise together; the announced resort and other amenities are not confirmed as completed or open.
Where the project is and what the construction update says
Bangladesh Monitor reported on October 11, 2026, that the project was inaugurated the previous day on the banks of Bankadighi. The site is about 12 kilometres from Bogura city, according to the project coverage. This is a country-specific “first” as described in the reports, not a claim that the project is the world’s first community-based agro-tourism village. Nepal, for example, reported a government agro-tourism village pilot in 2018 (The Kathmandu Post, July 1, 2018).

The latest report establishes that construction officially began, but it does not confirm a completion schedule, visitor access or an opening date. An earlier September 18 report said earthwork and access-road work were complete and full-scale structural construction was scheduled for October (The Business Standard, September 18, 2026).
What is planned for Sukh-er Khamar Agro Village
The announced development combines agricultural production with hospitality and rural tourism. The reports describe a proposed 100-room agro-resort, restaurant, convention hall, swimming pool and boating facilities, alongside crop fields, a 400-cattle farm, fish farm, one-megawatt solar plant, biogas facility and madrasa. The September report also mentioned goat and sheep farming, a mosque and an orphanage madrasa. These are reported plans, not a verified inventory of completed facilities.

The project’s construction concept is therefore broader than a conventional accommodation site: the stated model links farms and agricultural activity with places to stay, eat and gather. The reports do not provide construction specifications, phasing, contractor details or an independently assessed build schedule.
How the community partnership is described
The company describes the venture as a Shariah-compliant musharaka partnership. The September report said the project had attracted more than 1,000 partners from 42 districts and 21 countries, and that land interests were registered in partners’ names. Those participation figures and ownership details are company-reported in The Business Standard’s story, which is marked as a press release; they should not be read as independently verified measures of community ownership.

Company chairman Md Tasdikh Habib told The Business Standard: “The biggest problem in Bangladesh’s agriculture sector is that farmers do not get fair prices, and agro-tourism offers a solution, since farmers here sell not just crops but experiences as well.” He also said: “Smart agriculture will be Bangladesh’s next revolution, with Sukher Khamar as a concrete example of it.” These are the chairman’s views, not independent findings about the project’s future effects.

The October report attributes to a company representative estimates of BDT 1 crore in economic activity in a nearby village and 41 direct jobs. The September report similarly attributes roughly Tk1 crore in local economic activity and 41 local jobs to the managing director, and says the project supports 10 women entrepreneurs. The reports do not independently verify these figures or define the measurement period, so they are best treated as company estimates rather than demonstrated outcomes.

The company also says it aims to establish eight agro-villages across Bangladesh’s eight administrative divisions by 2035. That is an announced ambition, not a guaranteed expansion plan or confirmed schedule.
