Aqara’s Doorbell Camera Hub G410 is more than a video doorbell. It combines a 2K camera and physical doorbell button with a built-in mmWave presence sensor, Matter Controller, Thread Border Router, and Aqara Zigbee hub. It launched globally on July 10, 2025, so it is no longer a new release in 2026—but its combination of doorstep sensing and smart-home hardware remains unusual.
The G410 is most compelling for Aqara, Matter, Apple Home, and Home Assistant users who can hardwire it. Battery operation is more convenient, but it removes two of the product’s most important capabilities: RTSP streaming and continuous recording.

What the Aqara G410 actually is
The Aqara Doorbell Camera Hub G410 has two physical parts:
Recommended Free Tools
- An exterior doorbell unit with the camera, visitor button, microphone, speaker, and sensing hardware.
- An indoor chime that provides audible alerts while also containing the smart-home hub and microSD storage.
That hub is built into the product rather than being a separate accessory. Depending on the setup, one G410 can connect Aqara Zigbee accessories, commission Matter devices, and extend a Thread network while serving as the home’s front-door camera.

What mmWave sensing adds
mmWave is radar-based presence sensing, not simply another form of camera motion detection. Conventional motion detection generally looks for movement in the image. Presence sensing is intended to determine whether someone or something remains within the detection area.
That distinction matters at a front door. The G410 can be used for scenarios such as:
- Identifying that a visitor is still lingering near the entrance.
- Reducing reliance on short-lived camera-motion events.
- Triggering an automation when someone remains in the porch area.
- Distinguishing a doorbell press from ordinary movement near the door.
Aqara says the sensor is designed to improve presence detection and minimize false alerts. It does not guarantee perfect discrimination. People walking past, cars, bicycles, pets, foliage, poor mounting angles, and a sidewalk inside the sensing zone can still create unwanted events.

It is also important to separate four different concepts:
| Event | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Motion | Something changes or moves in the camera’s view. |
| Presence | A person or object remains within the sensing area. |
| Facial recognition | The system attempts to identify an enrolled face. |
| Doorbell press | The physical button has been pressed. |
These events may appear differently in Aqara Home, Apple Home, Home Assistant, Alexa, Google Home, and SmartThings. mmWave does not mean every platform will expose a separate presence trigger or use it in the same way. Activity zones and notification rules still need to be configured carefully.
Camera specifications and recording
On paper, the G410 includes:
- 2K video resolution with a 3MP-class image sensor.
- A 175-degree field of view.
- An f/1.8 aperture.
- Infrared night vision.
- Two-way communication.
- Privacy masking and voice modification.
- On-device facial recognition, according to Aqara.
The 2K specification is not universal across integrations. Aqara says HomeKit Secure Video is limited to 1200p, so Apple users should not expect the full advertised resolution inside Apple’s recording system. Lighting, Wi-Fi quality, compression, viewing hardware, and mounting angle will also affect the image.

How the G410 functions as a smart-home hub
The phrase “smart-home hub” covers several distinct jobs:
Outdated Drivers Are Slowing You Down
One free scan finds every outdated or missing driver and matches the right update for your exact hardware.Free scan · exact hardware matchPC Slower Than It Used to Be?
A free scan shows the junk files, broken settings and background clutter dragging Windows down - then fixes them in one click.Free scan · Windows 10 & 11- Matter Controller: commissions and controls compatible Matter devices.
- Thread Border Router: connects Thread devices to the home network.
- Aqara Zigbee hub: connects compatible Aqara Zigbee accessories.
- Network hardware: supports 2.4GHz and 5GHz Wi-Fi, Thread, Zigbee, and Bluetooth connectivity.
Aqara claims support for more than 50 categories of third-party Matter devices, including locks, sensors, switches, lights, robot vacuums, appliances, and EV chargers. That is a useful compatibility claim, but category support is not the same as guaranteed feature parity. A Matter device may expose basic controls while leaving proprietary settings, AI events, or advanced automation features in the Aqara app.
The G410 is therefore not a universal replacement for every hub. It does not remove the need for a suitable Wi-Fi network, an appropriate smart-home platform, or Apple’s separate home-hub requirements for HomeKit Secure Video. It also does not automatically make every camera, sensor, or AI event available everywhere.
Battery versus wired installation
The G410 can run from six AA batteries or a low-voltage wired connection. Aqara quotes up to five months of battery life under an assumption of 10 wake-ups per day. That is a test-condition estimate, not a guaranteed service interval. Frequent visitors, live views, repeated alerts, cold weather, and more aggressive recording settings can shorten it.
| Installation | Benefits | Limitations |
|---|---|---|
| Battery | Easier installation and more placement flexibility. | Requires battery replacement; no 24/7 recording; no RTSP according to Aqara. |
| Wired | Continuous power, 24/7 recording, and RTSP support. | Requires suitable low-voltage wiring and transformer compatibility. |
| Wired with microSD | Local continuous recording without relying entirely on cloud storage. | Card is not included, and recording depends on the card and chime remaining operational. |
Aqara’s US product information lists a 12–24V AC or DC external power supply for wired installation. Verify the existing transformer and wiring before fitting the doorbell. A battery-powered G410 is not equivalent to a continuously powered security camera.
For Home Assistant, Frigate, Blue Iris, or another local NVR, this distinction is decisive: Aqara says RTSP is available only when the doorbell is hardwired.

- Works with HomeKit Secure Video and All Major Ecosystems: Fully compatible with Apple HomeKit Secure Video (HSV) for encrypted recording, iCloud storage, and real-time notifications directly on Apple devices. Also compatible with Alexa, Google Assistant, and SmartThings. Pro-level compatibility provides more options via RTSP/ONVIF support, NVR integration, and other advanced setups. *Note: To use this device with HomeKit Secure Video, an iCloud+ plan and an Apple home hub are required.
- 2K HD 165° Head-to-Toe Vision: See everything from packages at your feet to faces at the door. Featuring 2K HD resolution and a 165° ultra-wide field of view with a 3:4 aspect ratio, the G400 doorbell camera provides a vertical perspective that traditional 16:9 cameras miss. Equipped with nearly invisible 940nm infrared LEDs, this doorbell captures bright, high-definition video in total darkness, monitoring discreetly without alerting intruders or disturbing neighbors. *Note: When connected to Apple HomeKit, the resolution is limited to 1200p. This limitation also applies to Aqara Home when both platforms are used simultaneously.
- Reliable Hardwired Power & Stable Wi-Fi 6: You can utilize the high-efficiency PoE connection or reuse your existing 8–24V AC/DC wiring, simplifying the upgrade path while maintaining stability. Additionally, the Wi-Fi video doorbell supports both 2.4GHz and 5GHz Wi-Fi 6 and meets WPA3 security standards for reliable and secure connections.
- Local AI Detections & Custom Replies: Reduce false alarms with local person recognition and zone intrusion, ensuring you're instantly notified when it matters, with no cloud processing required. When someone rings, use custom quick replies or the voice-changing intercom to answer the door safely. Our wired doorbell camera also features visitor face recognition and cloud package identification for total peace of mind.
- IP65 Weatherproof & Easy Setup: Built to withstand the elements with an IP65 rating for dust and water resistance, it works flawlessly in wind and rain. The package includes a wedge kit for optimal positioning and a plug-in chime for indoor alerts. The smart doorbell supports 24/7 continuous recording directly to a microSD card (up to 512GB, not included). For added peace of mind, all local footage is automatically backed up to your SMB-compatible NAS server, keeping your video safe and secure.
Storage and subscriptions
Storage options include a microSD card of up to 512GB, NAS backup, Aqara cloud storage, and iCloud storage through HomeKit Secure Video. The microSD card fits in the indoor chime rather than the exterior unit, making it less accessible to someone outside the home. It is not included.
Continuous recording requires both a microSD card and constant wired power. Battery operation is designed around event-based use rather than 24/7 recording. Local storage can reduce dependence on Aqara’s cloud, but it does not make every feature free: extended cloud history may require Aqara HomeGuardian, while HomeKit Secure Video requires a compatible iCloud subscription and Apple home hub.
Aqara’s launch announcement described one-day free cloud storage for six months, or 90-day storage with a HomeGuardian subscription. Availability and terms vary by country and can change, so check the current regional plan before buying.

Apple Home
The G410 supports Apple Home and HomeKit Secure Video. Apple users still need a compatible Apple home hub and an eligible iCloud plan for HomeKit Secure Video. Aqara states that HomeKit Secure Video is limited to 1200p. The camera may therefore offer more resolution and configuration through Aqara Home than through Apple Home.
Alexa, Google Home, and SmartThings
Aqara says the G410 can stream to compatible Alexa, Google Home, and SmartThings displays. Live viewing should not be confused with complete feature support. The availability of doorbell presses, mmWave events, facial-recognition events, two-way talk, recordings, and automations can differ by platform and firmware.
Home Assistant and local NVRs
The G410’s RTSP support and advertised compatibility with systems such as Frigate and Blue Iris make it interesting to local-automation users—but only in a wired installation. Battery users should not buy it expecting a fully local, always-available RTSP camera.

Aqara also advertises Matter Bridging that can expose some facial-recognition capability to third-party Matter platforms such as Home Assistant. That is not the same as full feature parity. Video, doorbell events, motion, facial recognition, and two-way audio may arrive through different integration paths.
Privacy and security considerations
The G410 includes privacy masking, local microSD recording, NAS backup, voice modification, and on-device facial recognition claims from Aqara. Local processing can reduce the need to send recognition data to a cloud service, but it does not eliminate privacy considerations.
Face enrollment still involves the Aqara app and an account. Cloud storage and third-party integrations can have separate data flows. A local microSD card also needs physical and network protection, and it can fail or be lost if the indoor chime is damaged or stolen.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. The outdoor-installation warning
Do not assume that every location suitable for a conventional doorbell is automatically suitable for the G410. A TechRadar review raised concerns about waterproofing and outdoor suitability. That criticism conflicts with the intuitive assumption that a doorbell is necessarily weatherproof.
Before installation, check the current regional manual and environmental specifications for the exact model. Take particular care with exposed porches, heavy rain, snow, coastal humidity, and locations without an awning. Do not rely on a generic “outdoor doorbell” assumption where the camera will be fully exposed.
Independent coverage has also criticized the G410’s bulky or inexpensive-looking design. That may matter if the doorbell must be discreet or match an existing entrance.

Who should buy the G410?
The G410 makes the strongest case when several of these conditions apply:
- You already own Aqara Zigbee accessories.
- You want Matter and Thread capability without buying a separate hub.
- You use Apple Home but are comfortable retaining Aqara Home for advanced controls.
- You want local microSD or NAS storage.
- You can hardwire the doorbell and need RTSP or continuous recording.
- Presence and lingering detection would be more useful than basic camera motion alerts.
Investigate alternatives if you need a fully local battery-powered RTSP camera, expect full 2K video in HomeKit Secure Video, require identical features across every smart-home platform, or have an exposed installation where weather suitability cannot be confirmed. The built-in hub also adds little value if you only want a simple doorbell and do not use Aqara, Matter, Thread, or Zigbee devices.
Alternatives to consider
Aqara Doorbell Camera G4
The G4 is an older, potentially lower-cost Aqara battery-doorbell option. The G410 is the more feature-rich model, adding mmWave sensing, 2K video, dual-band Wi-Fi, and integrated Matter, Thread, and Zigbee hub functions.
Aqara Doorbell Camera G400 Wired
Aqara announced the G400 Wired in March 2026. It is worth comparing if permanent power is acceptable, but verify its sensor technology, hub functions, storage, platform support, weather rating, and price rather than assuming that a newer model is automatically a better G410 replacement.
Aqara Hub M3 with a separate doorbell
A separate Hub M3 offers more freedom to place the hub centrally for better Zigbee or Thread coverage. The trade-off is a less integrated installation with another device to buy and manage.
Aqara Camera Hub G5 Pro
The Camera Hub G5 Pro is better viewed as a camera-centered hub, not a direct replacement for a front-door button and visitor-calling doorbell.
Verdict
The Aqara G410 is a meaningful upgrade over a conventional doorbell for the right smart-home installation. Its mmWave sensor targets presence and lingering near the door, while the indoor chime consolidates Matter, Thread, and Aqara Zigbee hub duties. Local storage, facial-recognition claims, HomeKit support, and RTSP add flexibility.
Its limitations are equally important: battery mode does not provide RTSP or continuous recording, HomeKit is capped at 1200p, cloud and iCloud features can still involve subscriptions, and outdoor suitability should be verified for the actual installation. At the US price captured by Aqara of $144.99, it is easiest to justify when the built-in hub replaces equipment you would otherwise buy—not when you only need a basic doorbell.
