What Aldi actually sold
Tech Advisor reported on 6 November 2024 that Aldi stores were selling an air-fryer oven as a Specialbuy for £49.99. It was presented as an unusually inexpensive alternative to more established oven-style air fryers, rather than as a verified current Black Friday offer.

These details come from Tech Advisor’s original report. It did not establish the wattage, maximum temperature, dimensions, weight, exact programme names, warranty, cleaning instructions or spare-parts support.

The attraction was not simply that Aldi was cheap. The appliance combined several features normally associated with a more expensive air-fryer oven:

- Oven-style capacity: the 11-litre cavity was larger in concept than many small single-drawer air fryers and used racks rather than one removable drawer.
- Multiple cooking levels: two trays could make it possible to cook different foods at once, although the number of trays supplied does not prove that food will cook evenly on every level.
- Rotisserie cooking: the included spit was intended for a chicken or similar food, subject to the appliance’s unverified loading limit.
- Rotating basket: the cylindrical basket was suited to chips and other foods that benefit from tumbling during cooking.
- Low entry price: £49.99 was substantially below the £129.99 historical price quoted for the comparable Breville model in the same Tech Advisor article.
That is a compelling feature-per-pound proposition. It is not the same as proving superior cooking, reliability or ownership value. A low-cost appliance can offer an impressive list of functions while still having limitations in temperature control, airflow, cleaning or after-sales support.
Was it really a Black Friday product?
It is more accurate to call this Aldi’s November 2024 Black Friday-season air-fryer oven. Tech Advisor’s article was published on 6 November 2024 and said the product was available in Aldi stores “today”. The evidence does not show that it was available only on Black Friday itself.
Nor does the article establish a repeat promotion for Black Friday 2026. Readers should therefore treat £49.99 as a historical Aldi Specialbuy price, not a current price or promise of future stock.

Air-fryer oven versus drawer air fryer
The Aldi model’s oven format changes how it is used.
Advantages of the oven format
- Racks provide more vertical cooking space than a single drawer.
- A rotisserie spit and rotating basket add cooking methods that a basic drawer model may not offer.
- The front door makes the appliance function more like a compact convection oven.
- Trays can be useful for toast-style foods, vegetables, small bakes and foods that are awkward to shake in a drawer.
Disadvantages
- The appliance may occupy more permanent counter space.
- Racks, a spit and a rotating basket need somewhere to be stored.
- Multiple levels do not guarantee even browning; food may need rearranging or rotating.
- A drawer is often simpler for shaking chips and may be easier to clean.
- An advertised litre figure does not tell you the usable tray dimensions or how much food can cook effectively at once.
For someone who mainly cooks one portion of chips, nuggets or vegetables, the extra accessories may add cost and cleaning without adding much practical value. For a household that wants rotisserie cooking and a small-oven layout, the format is more persuasive.

What the rotisserie and basket could do
The rotisserie spit was intended for whole chickens or similar foods, while the cylindrical basket was aimed at chips and other food that benefits from continuous tumbling. Those are meaningful additions at this price.
But the available Aldi information does not confirm the maximum rotisserie weight, balancing instructions, basket loading limit or whether either accessory was dishwasher-safe. You should not transfer limits from another brand or assume that an 11-litre cavity can safely accommodate a particular size of chicken. The appliance manual would be the authority on those points.

Aldi versus the Breville Halo
Tech Advisor used the Breville Halo Air Fryer & Rotisserie Oven as a comparison. This is useful for showing the type of product Aldi was challenging, but it does not prove that both appliances perform identically.

The Breville review also reported a 1.3kg rotisserie limit and a 750g chip capacity in its drum. Those figures apply to the Breville, not Aldi, and should not be used to estimate the Aldi model’s safe capacity.
What the “best value” claim does—and does not—prove
Tech Advisor’s claim was reasonable as a price-and-feature assessment: an 11-litre oven-style appliance with a rotisserie and rotating basket for £49.99 was unusually inexpensive. But the article itself indicated that product details were limited. It did not provide Aldi-specific measurements of:

- fan noise;
- energy consumption;
- rotisserie reliability or balance;

- long-term durability;
- warranty and returns;
- spare-part availability; or

That distinction matters. “Best value” does not mean “best-performing air fryer oven”. It means the reported combination of headline price and apparent features looked difficult to match.
Who would have been a good buyer?
The Aldi model made most sense for a buyer who wanted an inexpensive countertop oven with extra cooking options and was comfortable with Specialbuy uncertainty. It could suit:
- households wanting more vertical space than a basic drawer provides;
- people interested in rotisserie cooking;
- buyers who wanted to cook small meals without using a full-size oven;
- bargain hunters prepared to buy in-store while stock lasted.
It was less suitable for:
- small kitchens with limited counter or storage space;
- people who mostly cook one small portion;
- buyers who require guaranteed replacement parts;
- anyone who dislikes washing racks, spits and rotating baskets;
- readers looking for a currently verified, tested model rather than a historical deal.
Checks to make before buying a similar model
- Measure the cavity and trays. Do not rely on the litre figure alone.
- Check the wattage and maximum temperature. These affect cooking speed and suitability for different foods.
- Confirm usable rotisserie and basket limits. Check the manual rather than guessing from the cavity size.
- Check what is included. Confirm whether trays, a drip or crumb tray, spit, forks and basket are all supplied.
- Look at cleaning requirements. Ask whether parts are removable and dishwasher-safe; do not assume they are.
- Check warranty, returns and spare parts. A Specialbuy may be excellent value but harder to replace or accessorise later.
- Allow for heat and door clearance. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions and make sure the appliance fits safely on a suitable countertop.
- Compare the current price with tested alternatives. A bargain is less compelling if a supported model is only marginally more expensive.
Can you still buy Aldi’s model?
The researched evidence confirms the November 2024 store promotion, but not current 2026 availability, online stock, a repeat Aldi offer or a reliable resale price. The exact Aldi product page has also not been verified here.
If you find one second-hand or in leftover stock, check the model number, condition, accessories, receipt, return terms and availability of the manual before paying. Be cautious if a seller is charging substantially more than the original £49.99 price simply because the item was a Specialbuy.

Breville Halo Air Fryer & Rotisserie Oven
The Breville is the clearest documented comparison: a 10-litre oven-format model with three wire trays, a mesh basket, drip tray and rotisserie accessories. Its reviewed specification included 2,000W power and a 200°C maximum temperature. Tech Advisor found it easy to use and effective for small quantities, while also noting its 1.3kg rotisserie limit, accessory soaking and storage demands.

Its £129.99 figure was historical, not a current recommendation. Check the current retailer listing for live stock, price, warranty and returns before considering it.
A conventional drawer air fryer
A drawer model may be the better choice if you mainly cook chips, frozen food, vegetables or small portions. It is generally easier to shake, may take less space and usually involves fewer accessories. Paying extra for a rotisserie and oven cavity makes little sense if you will use only a basic air-fry programme.
Current 2026 alternatives should be judged using live prices, confirmed availability, independent testing, warranty terms and manufacturer support. The historical Aldi evidence alone is not enough to name a current “best” replacement.
Verdict
Aldi’s £49.99 air-fryer oven was plausibly one of the strongest on-paper bargains of the 2024 Black Friday season. Its reported 11-litre oven format, rotisserie, rotating basket and multiple trays offered unusually much for the price.
