The product behind the headline is Xiaomi’s Mijia Central Air Conditioner Pro, launched in mainland China in February 2025. Xiaomi confirms a high-end ducted central system with smart controls and Level 1+ energy-efficiency certification. Its annual report also describes dual-radar occupancy sensing for home air conditioning, but the available company disclosures do not confirm that upward airflow and that exact radar system are bundled in every Pro configuration.
What Xiaomi launched
Xiaomi named the system Mijia Central Air Conditioner Pro and described it as a “Smart Air Management System for the Entire Home.” Its Q4 2024 results presentation listed a launch-period retail price of up to RMB 30,999. The company’s 2024 annual results announcement says the Pro has a twin-cylinder compressor and Level 1+ energy efficiency. Xiaomi says the unit can be controlled through Mijia Lingyun, which can select operating modes based on current room conditions. Its certification is under a named Chinese technical specification, so the Level 1+ label should not be assumed to translate directly to another country’s efficiency rating. What the mmWave radar is said to do
Xiaomi’s 2025 annual report describes an air-conditioning module developed with a sensor supplier. It uses two 24 GHz radar beams for 180-degree horizontal room coverage, with customized software intended to detect multiple people, including people who are still or making only small movements. Xiaomi says detected occupancy can trigger temperature changes or power the air conditioner off. These are Xiaomi’s descriptions of its home air-conditioning technology; the report does not establish that every detail applies to every Mijia Central Air Conditioner Pro configuration. The same report says Xiaomi achieved more than 70% energy savings in real household intermittent-use scenarios with the radar-enabled function. This is a company-reported result, not an independent test or a forecast for an individual home. Actual energy use depends on the building, system design, settings, occupancy, and climate.
Does it direct upward airflow around people?
That exact feature combination is not fully confirmed for the Mijia Central Air Conditioner Pro by Xiaomi’s cited product and annual-report materials. Notebookcheck reported that a related product, the Mijia Central Air Conditioner Duct Unit Pro 4HP, launched in China with mmWave sensing that detects occupant position and can direct airflow toward or away from people. What a homeowner should check before considering it
This is a central, ducted system rather than a simple room air conditioner. For a construction or renovation project, the product name alone is not enough to establish that it will fit a home or deliver the desired room-by-room comfort. Confirm the exact model and configuration with the seller or installer, then check:
- System sizing and layout: required capacity, duct routing, ceiling or service-space needs, and suitability for the home’s rooms.
- Airflow behavior: which airflow directions and occupant-responsive functions are supported by the precise unit being quoted.
- Controls: whether Mijia Lingyun and Xiaomi HyperOS Connect are available and supported in the installation market.
- Installation and service: who can install and maintain the system locally, what warranty applies, and whether replacement parts are available.
- Efficiency comparison: how the Chinese Level 1+ certification maps—or does not map—to local standards and comparable systems.
- Total installed cost: current local equipment price, installation, ductwork, electrical work, and any required controls.
Availability and price are not established outside China
The cited sources establish a mainland-China launch, but do not confirm current availability elsewhere, export eligibility, local warranty coverage, installation support, or current pricing. Xiaomi also reported that it shipped more than 6.8 million air conditioners in 2024, up over 50% year over year; that figure is company-wide and says nothing about sales of this particular central system.
