What the Supaul bridge collapse video shows
The video published by Scroll is titled “Scenes after portion of bridge under construction collapses in Supaul, Bihar.” It concerns a section of a bridge being built across the Kosi—also spelled Koshi—River. Scroll describes the location as near Maricha, between Bheja and Bakaur; News On AIR and other contemporaneous reporting place the incident near Bakaur in Supaul district.
Rescue language in the video page’s embedded, earlier PTI update—workers were reportedly trapped and rescue work was under way—describes the situation during the operation, not its eventual outcome.
When did it happen, and what was the final reported casualty count?
The collapse happened on March 22, 2024. News On AIR reported after rescue work was complete that one person had died and 10 were injured, attributing the count to the Supaul District Magistrate. Earlier reports captured different totals while information was still developing: Scroll reported one death and nine injuries, and The Indian Express reported one death and eight injuries at publication time. The later completed-rescue count is the clearest update among these reports.

What was the preliminary explanation for the collapse?
Supaul District Magistrate Kaushal Kumar said it “prima facie appears that a span of the under-construction bridge was slipped due to some technical fault when it was being set on guarder.” He also said a three-member Central team would investigate the cause, according to News On AIR.
This was an initial assessment, not a confirmed engineering finding. The reports cited here do not establish the team’s final conclusions or identify a definitive cause.

Which bridge project was involved?
News On AIR reported that the bridge was being built between Supaul and Madhubani districts over the Koshi River as part of the Bharatmala Project. The Indian Express gave project figures of 10.5 kilometres in length and a cost above ₹1,200 crore; those are figures attributed to that report, not independently established project totals.

News On AIR said on March 22 that the district administration provided ₹10 lakh to the deceased person’s family and ₹1 lakh to each injured person. That report records the announced or reported response at the time; it does not verify whether the payments were subsequently completed.
