What Samsung Drum Clean does
Eco Drum Clean is an automatic maintenance cycle intended to clean the inside of the drum and address accumulated dirt, bacteria, and mold. Samsung UK says Eco Drum Clean heats water between 60°C and 70°C; that range applies to the UK guidance, not necessarily every Samsung washer. How to run the cycle
- Check your model’s manual. Find the exact model number and confirm which cleaning cycle it supports and how to select it. Panel layouts and cycle names vary. Samsung provides model-specific manuals and support through its cleaning-functions guide.
- Empty the washer. Remove all laundry from the drum or tub.
- Select the cleaning cycle. Power on the washer and choose the applicable Drum Clean, Eco Drum Clean, Eco Drum Clean+, or model-specific equivalent. Close the door or lid as directed by the machine.
- Start the cycle. Press Start or Start/Pause according to your panel. Let the cycle finish before using the washer again.

Should you add detergent or a cleaning product?
No—not for the Eco Drum Clean and Eco Drum Clean+ cycles covered by Samsung UK’s instructions. Samsung explicitly says not to use common laundry detergent with these cycles and warns that chemical residue may damage laundry or the drum. Samsung France likewise describes its automatic drum-clean feature as operating without laundry, detergent, or chemical or bleach products. How often to run Drum Clean
Samsung’s general guidance in the cited support materials is about every 40 washes or cycles. Treat that as model-specific advice: follow your washer’s displayed reminder and user manual if they differ. Cycle names and reminders vary by model and region

For Eco Drum Clean+ in Samsung UK’s guidance, the reminder blinks once every 40 washes. The user can ignore it for six consecutive washes; it stops appearing from the seventh wash and returns at the next 40-wash point. - Door seal: Check it and wipe it with a wet cloth and non-abrasive cleaner, following your model’s care instructions.
- Detergent drawer: Rinse the drawer; use a soft brush and damp cloth to clean its recess if needed.
- Debris filter: Clean or inspect it when your model’s manual or reminder guidance calls for it. Check for damage and use only a compatible replacement part if one is needed.
