The right router lift is the one that fits both your router motor and your router table—not a universal “best” model. This five-product shortlist compares documented features of the Kreg Precision Router Lift PRS5000, JessEm Mast-R-Lift II, JessEm Rout-R-Lift 3.5XT, INCRA/Woodpeckers QuickLift, and INCRA PRL-V2. Check motor fit and table support before weighing adjustment style, bit-change access, rings, and locks.
How do I choose a router lift for my table?
Start with two compatibility checks: the lift must accept your router motor, and its plate must fit and be supported by your table opening. A matching plate outline alone does not guarantee adequate support. Compare dimensions, thickness, corner radius or geometry, and whether the table has a ledge or needs an adapter.
- Router fit: Confirm the exact motor model or diameter against the manufacturer’s compatibility information. Similar router families can have different motor housings or mounting requirements.
- Table fit: Match the plate dimensions and thickness to the opening, and check how the plate rests on the table. INCRA notes that some Kreg and JessEm tables lack the rabbeted ledge its QuickLift needs without an adapter; see the QuickLift specifications.
- Operation: Decide whether you want spring-assisted rapid movement, a crank with fine adjustment, a lock or brake, and above-table bit changes.
- Opening and accessories: Compare reducing-ring sizes and how the rings are retained. The opening around the bit can affect workpiece support and accessory compatibility.
“Above-table adjustment” and “above-table bit changes” are different capabilities. Verify both if you want to raise the router and change bits without reaching underneath.
Which router lift fits my router and table?
The five options below are documented choices, not a tested ranking. Manufacturer specifications describe features and fit; they do not establish which lift performs best overall.

What differences matter in everyday use?
Quick movement versus fine height control
QuickLift and PRL-V2 document spring-assisted rapid lifting, with fine adjustment available after raising the lift. Kreg specifies a crank movement rate and micro-adjust markings. JessEm’s Mast-R-Lift II specifies travel and a zero-backlash mechanism. These are different design details, not directly comparable performance test results; consider which control style suits how often you change height and how precisely you need to set it.
Bit changes and access from above
Confirm that a product supports above-table bit changes if that is important to your setup. It is not implied by the ability to adjust height from above. For example, JessEm says of its separate Rout-R-Lift Prestige for plunge-based routers: “Please note that router bit changes cannot be performed from the top with this lift.” That caveat applies to the Prestige, not the 3.5XT or Mast-R-Lift II. Rings, locks, and included mounting hardware
Reducing rings control the opening around the bit; their size and retention method matter if you use different bits or table accessories. Kreg lists three Level-Loc rings, while INCRA lists five magnetic steel rings for the QuickLift and five MagnaLOCK rings for the PRL-V2. Look at the included set and ring system for the exact model you are considering. Locks and brakes also differ: JessEm specifies an integrated lock on the Mast-R-Lift II, while INCRA specifies a brake and quarter-turn camlock on the PRL-V2. Do not assume these details apply to other models in the same brand’s range.

Fine Woodworking’s October 24, 2013 tool test evaluated seven lifts available at that time, including the JessEm Mast-R-Lift II and Woodpeckers PRL-V2. The magazine describes two vertical-play checks and reports that each lift in its tested sample moved less than 0.002 inch after a full cut; it also says three models had height-adjustment locks. This is a result from that historical sample and test, not a current head-to-head ranking or a measurement that can be applied to current revisions or every router lift.
