The best quick-wash washer is the one whose short cycle fits your actual load—not simply the model with the lowest advertised minutes. Quick Wash is generally intended for small, lightly soiled loads, and cycle times depend on the washer, load, water supply and selected settings. Compare the load basis behind each time, plus capacity, installation fit and efficiency, before choosing.
What Quick Wash is designed to clean
Quick Wash is usually meant for a small load of lightly soiled clothes that need refreshing, not a full basket or heavily stained laundry. Maytag describes its cycle as intended for “2-4 lightly soiled garments”; Samsung’s New Zealand guidance says its Quick Wash is for loads of 2 kg or less. Check the manual for your exact washer: cycle names and restrictions vary by model and market.
For a quick cycle, sort out heavily soiled or stained items for an appropriate regular cycle, and avoid packing the drum. A small, loosely loaded batch is more consistent with manufacturers’ stated use than a full load. Follow garment-care labels and your washer’s detergent instructions.
How long does a quick wash take?
There is no single standard runtime. Official product information gives examples from 15 to 30 minutes, while Maytag’s general cycle guide gives an approximate range of 15–40 minutes. These are manufacturer descriptions for different products and conditions, not results from a controlled comparison.

Samsung’s timing and load details are specific to its New Zealand products; do not assume they apply to a washer sold in another country. Added functions, water pressure and load weight can change the actual runtime. For the expected cycle sequence and restrictions, use the manual for the precise model and regional variant.
Quick-wash models to compare
The models below are useful starting points because their manufacturers publish quick-cycle times. The figures do not establish which washer cleans best or finishes fastest under matching conditions; no independent head-to-head cleaning comparison is available here.

Maytag MHW5630HW
Maytag advertises a 15-minute Quick Wash on this model, with the claim based on a 3-lb load and extra-high spin speeds. That makes the load qualification central to interpreting the headline time: it is not a promise for a larger batch. Confirm the model’s current availability, dimensions and manual before buying.
Whirlpool WFW5605MC
Whirlpool lists a 25-minute Quick Wash for this front-load washer. Its product page does not state a comparable load weight alongside that time, so the advertised figure cannot be fairly ranked against Maytag’s 3-lb example as if they were tested alike.

Whirlpool WTW4105SW
Whirlpool says small loads can be clean in as little as 30 minutes on this top-load model. “As little as” and “small loads” qualify the claim; the published information does not establish an exact weight basis or a result comparable to the other models.
How to choose a washer for quick laundry
- Start with your usual load. Match the washer’s capacity to how much laundry you routinely wash. Quick cycles often impose a smaller load limit than the washer’s total capacity.
- Read the time claim closely. Look for a stated load weight or garment count, and distinguish a fixed advertised duration from wording such as “approximately” or “as little as.” Use the model manual to understand cycle options and conditions.
- Check the physical fit. Measure the installation space and account for placement before comparing models. ENERGY STAR recommends considering washer location and typical load size when shopping. ENERGY STAR clothes washer guidance
- Compare energy and water information. Use the yellow EnergyGuide label to compare energy use and estimated annual operating cost. ENERGY STAR identifies Integrated Modified Energy Factor (IMEF) and Integrated Water Factor (IWF) as useful efficiency measures: higher IMEF indicates better energy efficiency, while IWF expresses gallons of water per cubic foot of capacity.
- Verify the exact regional model. Product names, settings and cycle instructions can differ between markets. Confirm that the manual and product details match the model number and country where you will use the washer.
Does an ENERGY STAR washer have a faster Quick Wash?
No. ENERGY STAR qualification is an efficiency comparison, not a certification of quick-cycle speed or cleaning performance. The program’s clothes-washer requirements address efficiency; they do not rank which Quick Wash cycle is fastest or cleans best. ENERGY STAR’s consumer guidance says full-sized certified washers use 14 gallons per load versus 20 gallons for a standard machine, and that certified clothes washers use about 20% less energy and about 30% less water than regular washers. The page does not state a publication year for these figures. It also says water heating accounts for about 90% of the energy used to operate a clothes washer and recommends cold water for many ordinary loads, while noting oily stains as an exception. These are program-level consumer comparisons and guidance, not a guarantee for every model or stain.
