Compare capacity, pour style, temperature controls and the manufacturer’s stated materials for the exact model. The options below illustrate different needs; their specifications and warranty terms do not establish comparative lifespan.
What to look for in a metal electric kettle
Check what “metal” means for the specific model
A stainless-steel description does not prove that every part—or every surface that touches water—is metal. Check the manufacturer’s listed materials and distinguish the kettle body from other components. For example, Fellow describes a 304 stainless steel body and also lists plastic and silicone parts. Breville lists brushed stainless steel and Duraglass among the IQ Kettle Pure’s materials. Those descriptions do not, by themselves, establish which materials contact water.
Choose capacity for your usual batch
Consider how many cups you typically make at once. The examples here range from Fellow’s 0.9 L pour-over kettle to Cuisinart’s 1.7 L PerfecTemp. A larger capacity can reduce the number of batches when serving several people; a smaller kettle may better suit a limited batch size. These are model-specific capacities, not a universal size recommendation.
Match the spout to the pour
A conventional spout is suited to general kitchen use. A gooseneck gives you more control over a slow, steady pour, which is useful for pour-over coffee. Fellow identifies its 0.9 L pour-over option as having a precision gooseneck spout.

Decide whether temperature settings matter
Presets or adjustable temperature control are useful when you want water below a full boil or repeatable temperatures for different drinks. They are not necessary if you mainly need boiling water. Compare the exact controls and any keep-warm function rather than assuming every model in a product range has the same features.

Which option fits your needs?
For a larger batch and preset temperatures
The Cuisinart PerfecTemp CPK-17 is the clearest fit among these examples if you want a 1.7 L kettle with preset temperature choices and a 30-minute keep-warm function. These are manufacturer-listed specifications, not independent performance results.

- 𝟯𝟬𝟰 𝗙𝗼𝗼𝗱-𝗚𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗲 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗦𝘁𝗲𝗲𝗹: stainless steel interior. Plastic-free—spout, inner lid, and filter all made of 304 stainless steel.
- 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗪𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗟𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹 𝗜𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿: Unlike typical plastic water level indicators, ours is completely plastic-free to prevent plastic odors.
- 𝗘𝗮𝘀𝘆 𝘁𝗼 𝗨𝘀𝗲: Internal water level markings for precise filling, and blue LED light turns off when boiling is complete.
- 𝗕𝘂𝗶𝗹𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗟𝗮𝘀𝘁: Durable stainless steel construction with superior heat retention (compared to Cosori 171 Glass Kettle) and Strix auto shut-off for long-term reliability.
For preset brewing temperatures
Breville lists five presets for the IQ Kettle Pure, including settings for tea and French press coffee. Its published materials list includes both brushed stainless steel and Duraglass, so do not treat “stainless steel” as a claim that the complete kettle is metal.
For pour-over or a choice of batch size
Fellow’s comparison includes a 0.9 L pour-over model with a precision gooseneck and a 1.5 L all-purpose XL. Some models offer control in 0.5°F increments; check the individual model’s listing rather than assuming that feature applies to the entire range.

What safety features and warranties tell you
Safety features and warranty coverage are useful points of comparison, but they are not proof that one kettle will last longer. Breville lists auto shut-off, boil-dry protection and a one-year limited warranty for the IQ Kettle Pure. Fellow lists a two-year standard warranty with an option to extend. The Cuisinart product page lists the specifications described above; a comparable warranty term is not stated in the cited details. Read the manufacturer’s current warranty terms for coverage, exclusions and any registration requirements before buying.

Not from the available evidence here. Consumer Reports says its electric-kettle tests considered boiling time, whether kettles kept water warm and how easy their markings were to read. Its summary does not provide model-level results for the kettles above or establish long-term failure rates. Those measures may help assess everyday performance, but they do not support calling any option the most durable. Consumer Reports’ electric-kettle testing summary.

How to choose
- Set your batch size. Compare the stated capacity with the amount you usually make; the examples range from 0.9 L to 1.7 L.
- Pick a spout style. Choose a gooseneck if you want a more controlled pour for pour-over coffee; otherwise, prioritize a kettle suited to your general kitchen use.
- Decide whether temperature control earns its place. Look for presets or adjustable temperatures if you brew drinks that benefit from water below boiling; choose a keep-warm function if you want water held at temperature.
- Read the materials by component. Confirm the exact model and the manufacturer’s material description instead of relying on “metal” or “stainless steel” alone.
- Compare safety features and warranty terms. Treat these as separate purchasing factors, not as a durability ranking.
- Check the current listing. Confirm the model number, specifications, seller and availability with the manufacturer or retailer, since those details can change.
