Reset a Daikin air conditioner when the operation lamp flashes
Daikin Global gives this procedure for the symptom “The air conditioner does not operate. (The operation lamp flashes.)” It is general residential guidance, not a universal procedure for every model or country. Follow the instructions in your exact model’s manual if they differ.
- Turn the air conditioner off.
- Find the air conditioner’s dedicated circuit breaker in the main fuse box and switch it off. Leave it off for 20 minutes.
- Switch the dedicated breaker back on.
- Turn the air conditioner on and check the operation lamp.
Do not turn off the main breaker. If you cannot identify the air conditioner’s dedicated breaker, ask the installer or a qualified electrician rather than guessing. Daikin’s instructions are at Daikin’s residential troubleshooting page.
What to do if the problem remains
The operation lamp flashes again
Daikin says a flashing lamp that returns after the reset likely indicates a malfunction. Do not keep cycling the breaker; contact a Daikin representative or qualified service professional.

The dedicated breaker has tripped
A tripped breaker can indicate an electrical fault. Daikin warns against immediately resetting a molded-case circuit breaker or earth-leakage circuit breaker without first checking for insulation problems. Stop and have the issue assessed by a qualified electrician or service professional. Daikin’s error-code and repair information is intended for dealers with repair experience, not end users.
The controls do not work
If the unit does not respond to the remote, check its batteries and the timer setting before assuming it needs a reset. If the controls still do not work, contact Daikin support or the installer. For unclear remote display or poor remote operation, Daikin suggests replacing both batteries with new alkaline batteries; check the exact remote’s manual for battery size. Check these common causes before calling for service
The unit does not operate and the lamp is off
- Check whether the dedicated breaker has tripped or a fuse has blown. If a breaker has tripped, do not reset it until the electrical issue has been assessed.
- Check for a power outage or a problem with the power connection.
- Check the remote batteries and whether a timer is set.

Cooling or heating is poor
- Confirm the operating mode and temperature setting.
- Check that airflow direction and quantity are appropriate and that nothing obstructs the indoor unit.
- Check for open windows or doors and excessive ventilation.
- Clean the air filters. Daikin recommends cleaning them every two weeks and directs owners to the operation manual for the correct method. This recommendation does not mean every unit needs a replacement filter.
Daikin’s cooling and heating troubleshooting guidance covers these checks. Do not use commercial cleaning agents inside the air conditioner: Daikin warns they may damage resin or heat-exchanger parts and cause problems such as water leaks.
Allow for normal restart delays
If you have just stopped the unit or changed its operating mode, wait about three minutes before trying to restart it. Daikin describes this protective delay as normal, not a malfunction. See Daikin’s air-conditioner troubleshooting guidance.
When to contact Daikin or a professional
- The operation lamp flashes again after the prescribed reset.
- The dedicated breaker trips, or you are unsure which breaker controls the air conditioner.
- The unit remains unresponsive after checking the remote and timer.
- You need model-specific instructions or the manual’s procedure differs from this general guidance.
Use Daikin support, the original installer, or a qualified service professional as appropriate. Do not attempt dealer-level error-code repairs yourself.
