Which shower squeegee is the top pick?
Bob Vila’s September 27, 2026 comparison selected the Gütewerk High Performance Shower Squeegee as its best overall option. The outlet says it tested the products in its guide; this is its review-based recommendation, not a hands-on test conducted for this article. Its reported strengths include a 9-inch blade, a comfortable grip, and easy maneuvering. The blade has a silicone surface over a stainless-steel core, and the handle is silicone-coated. There are two trade-offs to weigh before choosing it: the blade cannot be replaced, and Bob Vila’s reviewer says it may not collect water or dirt at the bottom as effectively as some alternatives. If droplets or residue remain along the lower edge, a clean lint-free cloth can finish the job.
What to compare before buying
Blade width and contact
A wider blade covers more glass with each pass, while a narrower one can be easier to steer around handles, corners, and smaller panels. Whichever size you choose, the blade should make even contact with the glass. Diana Ciechorska, General Manager of Park Slope Cleaning, told Bob Vila: “Match your squeegee to your surface. Soft blades for glass, tougher ones for tiles.” Bob Vila’s guide says its comparison considered water removal and streaking as well as grip and maneuverability.

Grip and reach
A nonslip handle is useful when your hands are wet, and a tool that is easy to maneuver makes it simpler to reach the full door. Consider the height and layout of your enclosure: a compact squeegee may be easier to control in a tight space, while a broader blade can reduce the number of passes across a large panel.
Storage and blade replacement
Choose a storage method you will actually use after each shower: a suction holder, a hook, a hanging hole, or an adhesive mount. Check whether the blade can be replaced before buying. A replaceable blade gives you a way to maintain the tool as its wiping edge wears; the Gütewerk pick’s blade is not replaceable, according to Bob Vila.

A useful alternative: OXO Good Grips Stainless Steel Squeegee
The OXO Good Grips Stainless Steel Squeegee is an alternative if you want a flexible blade and an included adhesive suction holder. OXO says it is designed to clear water from shower doors, walls, mirrors, and tile, and describes its handle as nonslip. How to squeegee a glass shower door
- Start at the top. After showering, draw the blade down the glass in overlapping passes so water moves toward the bottom edge. Greater Glass recommends cleaning from top to bottom and squeegeeing the glass, hardware, and frame after every use.
- Use light, even pressure. Keep the soft blade in contact with the surface. Avoid pressing a metal holder or frame against the glass.
- Finish edges and remaining droplets. Wipe hardware and the frame as appropriate. If water or dirt remains near the bottom, use a clean lint-free cloth.
- Store the tool securely. Use its intended holder or hanging point, positioned so a metal part cannot touch and scratch the glass.
Greater Glass recommends squeegeeing after each use as a simple way to reduce potential damaging water spots and mineral deposits. That is maintenance guidance, not a quantified guarantee that spots will be prevented. See Greater Glass’s care and maintenance guidance.
Cleaning glass without scratching it
For routine cleaning, Greater Glass recommends removing visible dirt and debris first, avoiding abrasive cleaners, washing with warm water and mild pH-neutral soapy water when needed, rinsing thoroughly, and drying promptly with a clean lint-free cloth or squeegee. Follow the shower-door manufacturer’s instructions if they differ from this general glass-care guidance.

Do not let a metal holder touch the glass: Greater Glass warns that this can scratch the surface. The company also notes that repeated wetting and drying can, in some cases, increase glass-surface alkalinity and initiate corrosion that may appear cloudy. Cloudiness has multiple possible causes, so that observation alone is not a diagnosis.

A squeegee removes surface water; it is best understood as a repeatable upkeep step, not a demonstrated treatment for established mineral deposits or etched or cloudy glass. The cited product comparison and care guidance do not report a measured reduction rate for spots, deposits, or cleaning time. If deposits are already present, use a cleaning method approved by the door manufacturer rather than assuming routine squeegeeing will reverse them.
