The best cot for overnight guests is the one that fits your room and storage space while providing a sleeping surface suited to the person using it. Start by comparing the cot’s open and folded dimensions, then check whether it includes a mattress, how thick that mattress is, and the manufacturer’s stated capacity. The models below illustrate the trade-offs; their specifications come from manufacturers, not independent comfort or strength testing.
What to check before choosing a guest cot
- Measure the room and storage space. Compare the cot’s open dimensions with the available floor area, and its folded dimensions with the cupboard, closet, or other place where you plan to keep it.
- Match the sleep area to the guest. Check the actual sleeping surface length and width rather than relying only on labels such as “single” or “adult.”
- Find out what is included. A cot may be a fabric platform that needs separate padding, or a folding bed supplied with a mattress. Check the exact listing and bundle.
- Consider mattress thickness and intended use. An included mattress is not automatically comfortable for every sleeper. The product specifications do not establish comfort for all guests; consider the person’s needs and whether extra padding is appropriate.

For a compact storage footprint
The Jay-Be CE70 has a listed folded depth of 10 cm and weighs 7.9 kg. Its listed mattress is 5 cm thick. Compare those details with the HE70, which folds to 23 cm deep, weighs 8.9 kg, and has a listed 7 cm mattress. The CE70’s slimmer folded dimension may be useful where storage depth is tight; the HE70’s listed mattress is thicker. Check the full folded dimensions against your storage space, not depth alone.
For a wider sleeping surface
The Disc-O-Bed XL Single lists a 79 × 35 in sleep area, while the 2XL lists 85 × 39.5 in. The larger surface may better match a guest who needs more room, but the cited 2XL page does not state folded dimensions or product weight. Confirm both before deciding whether it can be stored and moved conveniently.

- Choose the sleep area first: match listed length and width to the guest and the room.
- Rule out options that do not fit the room when open or the storage location when folded.
