A porcelain toilet paper holder can make a small bathroom fixture feel like part of the room’s design. Wall-mounted options include simple white porcelain and a black model with a flat top; ceramic alternatives offer other finishes and integrated trays. Compare the holder’s dimensions, wall spacing, hardware, and usable surface before choosing.
Porcelain holders: two wall-mounted options
These manufacturer-documented examples show how finish, size, spacing, and included hardware differ by model. They are not a hands-on ranking.
| Model | Material and finish | Dimensions | Mounting and surface |
|---|---|---|---|
| ZANGRA bathroom.041.w | Porcelain; white | 11 cm high × 16 cm wide × 9.5 cm deep | 7 cm interaxial distance; mounting screws not included |
| ZANGRA bathroom.001.b | Porcelain; black | 14.5 cm high × 17.5 cm wide × 10.3 cm deep; 910 g | 6 cm interaxial distance; screws included; flat top can hold a phone, according to the manufacturer |
Interaxial distance is the distance between mounting points. Check the model’s specified spacing against your wall and any existing holes. For the white model, source suitable screws and wall plugs for your wall; the black model’s included screws do not remove the need to use appropriate anchors.
When a ceramic holder or tray may fit better
“Ceramic” and “porcelain” should not be treated as interchangeable product descriptions when comparing listings. LAUFEN lists a wall-mounted toilet roll holder with tray, article H8738530000001, made from Saphirkeramik. It measures 220 × 170 × 46 mm and is listed in white/chrome, white matte/chrome, and pale-gold PVD combinations. The cited product page describes it as ceramic, not porcelain.

For more color and glaze choices, HCP Ceramics lists toilet tissue holders in standard, special, and premium color options, with matte and gloss glazes. That is a category-level lead rather than a specification for one particular holder, so confirm the exact item’s material, dimensions, mounting spacing, finish, and hardware before comparing it with the ZANGRA models.
Choose by finish, fit, and practical surface
- Finish: White porcelain is a restrained choice; black porcelain creates more contrast. Check whether the glaze is matte or gloss if that distinction matters to the rest of the room.
- Wall fit: Compare the holder’s full width, height, and depth with the available space, then verify the mounting-point spacing. The examples above differ by 1 cm in interaxial distance.
- Top or tray: A flat top or tray may provide a place for small items, but confirm its dimensions and intended use. ZANGRA says the black model’s flat top can hold a phone; LAUFEN’s alternative has an integrated tray.
- Hardware: Included screws vary by model. Check the product details and select wall plugs appropriate to the wall type rather than assuming the supplied screws are a complete installation kit.
A traditional-style reference is Dornbracht’s MADISON reserve holder: its page describes a wall-surface-mounted WC tissue holder with white porcelain inserts in the cross handles. The inserts are not evidence that the holder itself is porcelain. Dornbracht’s broader tissue-holder catalog also illustrates other configurations, including covers, shelves, and reserve storage.

Mount it at a comfortable height
ZANGRA recommends placing its toilet roll holder 75–95 cm above the floor and about 45 cm from the center of the toilet bowl to the center of the holder. Treat these as that manufacturer’s recommendations, not a universal building standard. Check reach and clearance in your bathroom before drilling.
- Mark the intended position and check that the holder will clear nearby fixtures and remain comfortable to reach.
- Measure the mounting-point spacing for the specific model and mark the holes accordingly.
- Drill the holes and use wall plugs appropriate for the wall and installation.
- Tighten the ceramic or porcelain fixture by hand with a manual screwdriver. ZANGRA advises: “Do not use electrical screwdrivers when installing ceramic or porcelain items.”
Follow the product’s installation instructions and use care when tightening: the right anchor depends on the wall and the particular installation.

What to confirm before buying
- Does the product description identify the holder itself as porcelain, or is porcelain only used in a handle or insert?
- Do the dimensions and mounting spacing suit the available wall area and existing holes?
- Is a top surface or tray useful for your layout, and is its capacity or use clearly described?
- Are screws included, and what additional anchors or fixings will the wall require?
- Is the specified finish—such as matte, gloss, chrome, or a plated accent—the one you want?
Prices and availability can change, so check the manufacturer or retailer listing for current details. The manufacturer pages cited here document product specifications, not independent durability testing; they do not establish that porcelain is inherently more durable than other ceramic materials.
