Humidifiers without lights: how the options differ
โNo lightsโ can mean that a device has no illuminated controls, or that you can switch its lights off for nighttime use. Those are different features. Manufacturer descriptions also may not establish whether every indicator or light source is disabled, so check the current manual if complete darkness is essential.

Choose a switchable-light model for automatic humidity control
The Vicks Embrace VUL900 and Vornado Mistic 6 are options to consider if you want automatic humidity controls as well as a way to turn lights off. Vicks lists Auto Mode and a settable humidity target; its product page gives a 60% Auto Mode target. Vornado lists an electronic humidistat and automatic humidity control. Their light features are modes or settings, rather than the Classic 160โs description that all lights are off.

Consider the NeoClassic 450 only if its night light is not a problem
The NeoClassic 450โs Sleep Mode turns off its display lights, and Levoit lists a 4.2-liter capacity, up to 42 hours of runtime, and 21 dB Sleep Mode. But it also has a separate adjustable night light. If you need a completely dark room, verify that the night light can be disabled independently before choosing it.
What to check before buying
- Every source of light: Look for a separate night light, status indicator, or control illuminationโnot only a dimmed or blank display. Check the current manual to confirm what the nighttime mode actually disables.
- Runtime at your intended setting: Maximum runtime figures can refer to the lowest mist output. Compare the stated runtime for the setting you expect to use.
- Room and tank fit: Match tank capacity and the manufacturerโs stated coverage to your room. Vornado lists up to 700 square feet for the Mistic 6; this is a manufacturer claim, not a result from a direct comparison.
- Humidity control: A manual knob lets you adjust mist output, while a humidistat or Auto Mode can regulate humidity automatically. The Classic 160 has no built-in humidistat; Vicks and Vornado list automatic controls on the models above.
- Mist type: The Classic 160 is cool-mist. Vornado lists warm or cool mist for the Mistic 6.
- Cleaning access and parts: Check how the tank opens and what the manufacturer says about cleaning and replacement components. Use care instructions for the exact model you buy.
