For camping where a lantern could be dropped into water or briefly submerged, the Streamlight Super Siege is the strongest documented fit here: Streamlight rates it IPX7 to 1 meter and says it floats. For rain and splashes, the Energizer, Jackery and Lepro options below carry IPX4 ratings and should not be treated as submersible. Choose by likely water exposure first, then weigh brightness, runtime, power options and handling.
How to choose a lantern for wet conditions
Match the rating to the exposure
IPX7 and IPX4 describe different protection levels. Streamlight states that the Super Siege is protected against submersion to 1 meter; that is a defined boundary, not a promise that it will withstand every depth, duration or water condition. IPX4-rated lanterns are intended for splash exposure, not immersion. A rating also does not establish that a lantern is safe to leave outside indefinitely in every kind of weather.
Compare brightness and runtime by mode
Maximum lumens are only one part of the decision. High mode can be useful for lighting a work area or campsite, while low mode generally stretches the stated runtime and can be more comfortable inside a tent. Manufacturer figures below are specifications, not results from a shared test: brands do not establish uniform conditions for their runtime claims, so the numbers should not be read as a direct performance ranking.
Plan for power and handling
Consider whether you can recharge during a trip, want replaceable batteries, or need USB device charging. Carrying handles, hanging options and stability also matter when positioning a light around camp. A rechargeable lantern is convenient when you can replenish it; replaceable AA or 18650 batteries can offer another way to keep light available.

Which lantern fits your trip?
For possible immersion or a lantern that may fall in water: Streamlight Super Siege
Among these options, the Super Siege has the clearest stated case for exposure beyond rain and splashes: its manufacturer specifies IPX7 protection to 1 meter and says it floats. Streamlight’s product page says, “Plus it’s waterproof, and it floats!” Treat that as manufacturer copy, not independent test evidence. Its stated output ranges from 1,100 lumens on high to 125 lumens on low, so the mode choice affects how long it runs.
For cold-weather trips and replaceable rechargeable cells: Fenix CL30R
Fenix lists IPX7 protection, a 650-lumen maximum and support for one to three 18650 rechargeable lithium-ion batteries. Its page describes a cold-resistant design and lists compatible Fenix 18650 batteries. Because the seal depends on the O-ring, Fenix recommends replacing it with an approved spare if long-term use wears it.

Lepro lists 410 lumens at full brightness and discharge times of 5 hours at full, 11 at half and 24 at low. Hooks and magnets give it flexible placement options, and it includes an emergency strobe mode. Its IPX4 rating supports rain and splash use, not submersion. Because the product page contains inconsistent details across sections, check the current exact SKU and manual for fine-grained battery information.

All brightness, runtime, impact and water-protection figures above are manufacturer-published specifications. The available product pages do not establish uniform test conditions across brands, and no independent side-by-side test is available to support a comparative ranking. Actual runtime can depend on operating mode and use conditions; for water protection, stay within the manufacturer’s stated rating rather than assuming a general guarantee of all-weather durability.
