The best cheap gas grill depends on more than its sticker price: match the grill’s primary cooking area, burner layout, fuel connection, footprint and current availability to the way you cook. A useful budget reference is Char-Broil’s four-burner Performance Series 463348825, listed by the manufacturer at $299 with 435 square inches of primary cooking space—but its page currently says it is out of stock. Treat that as a specification and price reference, not a buyable deal.
Budget gas grills to compare
These manufacturer-listed models illustrate the trade-offs among price, cooking space and features. Prices and stock can change; check the exact configuration and seller before ordering.

How to choose the right inexpensive gas grill
Start with cooking space and burner layout
Compare primary grilling area separately from warming-rack area. A warming rack can hold food or keep it warm, but it is not additional primary grate space. The cited Char-Broil cart model has 435 square inches of primary area and a distinct 130-square-inch warming rack. Consider how many people you usually cook for, how much food needs to cook at once and whether separate burners will help you manage different heat zones.
#1 Best Overall
- All-Porcelain-Enamel Design: The main body and lid of this 2 burner propane grill feature an all-porcelain-enamel design that withstands extreme heat up to 1700℉. This design keeps the gas grill durable, maintains its like-new look and performance, and effectively resists peeling, blistering, and discoloration
- Flat Stainless Steel Burners: The 2 burner gas grill is equipped with flat, wider burners that provide broader flame coverage than standard tube burners. These burners deliver a steady total output of 26,500 BTUs for reliable cooking, and the stainless steel surface makes post-cook cleanup of this propane grill faster and more convenient
- 418 Sq. In. Grilling Area: This propane bbq grill offers a total grilling area of 418 sq. in., including 290 sq. in. of grates and 128 sq. in. of warming rack. It can hold up to 26 burgers, making it ideal for small family cookouts. The porcelain-enameled grates withstand high heat and are easier to clean after use
- Ample Workspace: This gas grill for outdoor cooking features two side tables that provide extra prep space for ingredients and grilling tools, keeping all essentials within easy reach. The durable construction of these side tables adds great convenience to your cooking process and optimizes your grilling workflow
- Outdoor Readiness: Perfect for backyard, garden, or poolside parties, this propane gas grill delivers reliable performance in any outdoor setting. With classic American styling that complements outdoor spaces, it also features durable construction that ensures long-lasting use and hassle-free cleanup
Burner count alone does not establish cooking performance. A side burner, sear zone or food probe may be useful if it suits your routine, but a manufacturer’s feature list confirms that a feature is present—not how well the grill cooks.
Check fuel before comparing prices
Confirm whether the exact model is configured for propane or natural gas and that it matches your connection and setup. The Weber Spirit EX-425C cited here is explicitly a natural-gas grill; do not treat it as a propane model or assume the two fuel versions share a connection, price or specification. For Char-Broil models, verify the fuel configuration on the specific product and seller listing before purchase.

- HEAVY DUTY DURABILITY AND SUPERIOR COOKING. This heavy duty propane gas grill features robust cast iron grates for excellent heat retention and professional sear marks. A high temperature powder coated steel body resists rust and supports long lasting outdoor use. Even heat distribution helps eliminate cold spots.
- SPACIOUS AND PORTABLE DESIGN. The 302 square inch cooking surface measures 23.62 inches length by 12.8 inches width and serves 4 to 6 people. It is ideal for backyard gatherings and camping. Foldable side shelves, a 35 pound net weight, 6 inch wheels, and a compact folded size of 44.88 inches length by 13.8 inches width by 38.97 inches height make transport and storage easy.
- POWERFUL 38250 BTU SYSTEM. Three stainless steel tube burners deliver 9550 BTU each for rapid heating and precise temperature control. A high heat porcelain enameled flame tamer and reliable safety ignition make this gas grill hassle free to use.
- EASY CLEANUP AND VERSATILE STORAGE. An angled pull out grease tray and cup help oil flow smoothly for mess free cleanup. The multi purpose stainless steel grilling basket doubles as a bottom storage rack and offers ventilation and rust resistance.
- USER FRIENDLY CONVENIENCE. This propane grill includes a built in bottle opener, four utensil hooks, an integrated thermometer, precise control knobs, and an included pressure regulator. It fits standard 20 pound propane tanks and is ready to use after setup.
Assess materials, warranty and assembly
Compare the written warranty for the exact model, along with grate and cookbox materials, burner construction, grease management and availability of replacement parts. Material descriptions alone do not establish how long a grill will last. The cited Char-Broil cart listing specifies porcelain-coated cast-iron grates and stainless-steel burners and says assembly is required. Weber lists a cast-aluminum cookbox and a 10-year limited warranty for the cited natural-gas model. Read the current warranty document rather than assuming coverage is the same across a product line.
Measure the footprint and total cost
Before buying, check the assembled width and depth, storage space, access to a propane cylinder or natural-gas hookup, and whether delivery includes assembly. Compare the delivered price and any assembly charge, not just the displayed grill price. Confirm that the model is actually in stock: a manufacturer page listing a price does not mean the grill can be ordered.

What comparison lists can—and cannot—tell you
Two 2026 comparison pages include under-$500 candidates such as the Weber Spirit II E-310, Nexgrill four-burner, Char-Broil Performance, Weber Q2800N+ and Napoleon TravelQ PRO285; another discusses Weber Spirit E-310 and E-210, Nexgrill, Monument, Broil King and Char-Broil options. Their lists offer market context, not a guarantee of current price or availability. One notes that prices and model availability changed during the season. Treat their rankings as those publishers’ opinions, not independent test results established here, and verify each finalist against a current manufacturer or retailer listing. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) says: “Use grills outside only, in well-ventilated areas, and never indoors, in a garage, breezeway, carport, porch or under a surface that will burn.” Follow the grill maker’s instructions for the exact model and fuel connection. CPSC also advises checking the grill and hoses for cracks, brittleness, holes and leaks; checking whether a grill has been recalled; and keeping children away from a hot grill. CPSC’s 2023 guidance reports 5,400 emergency-room-treated gas- and charcoal-grill-related injuries in 2022 and an average of 13 deaths per year. These are figures reported in 2023 guidance, not current 2026 estimates. For propane grills, a 1996 CPSC release advises checking for leaks when reconnecting a propane container or if you smell gas, keeping the grill outdoors and at least 10 feet from a house or other building, and storing spare cylinders upright and away from the grill and indoors. Because that release is historical, pair its guidance with the current instructions for your grill and cylinder. See the CPSC propane-grill safety release.
Optional accessories
Char-Broil lists a Performance Series 12-inch griddle insert and a universal medium grill cover as separate add-ons for model 463348825. They are not included simply because they appear on the product page. Check the dimensions and compatibility for your exact grill before buying; accessories may also be sold separately for other models.
