DIN 6319 spherical and dished washers help clamp components where the bearing surfaces are not parallel. They accommodate a limited angular mismatch through matching curved faces; they do not correct arbitrary misalignment or, by themselves, guarantee uniform load distribution. The key to choosing a suitable set is matching its washer form to the mating seat, fastener, dimensions, material and application.
How spherical washers accommodate non-parallel surfaces
A spherical washer arrangement uses mating curved faces so the clamped hardware can seat across an angular mismatch between the screw axis and the clamping surface. Böllhoff describes combining spherical washers with conical cups to compensate for angular errors. If a spherical washer is used without a separate cup, its spherical face must meet an appropriate spherical surface on the opposite side—for example, a suitable contour on the fastener. See Böllhoff’s overview of spherical washers and conical cups.
This is a seating arrangement, not a general-purpose alignment correction. The cited supplier information does not establish a universal correction angle, guarantee even pressure, or demonstrate that a washer alone prevents bolt bending, fatigue or joint failure. Confirm the geometry and capacity of the complete connection for the actual installation.
DIN 6319 forms and their mating parts
DIN 6319 product ranges include distinct spherical and dished washer forms. In the JW Winco catalog, type C is the spherical seat washer, while types D and G are dished washers. Type G has an enlarged outside diameter and is mainly used with elongated holes. Check the supplier’s drawing: a DIN designation alone does not establish that parts from different product ranges form a compatible set.

| Form or arrangement | What the cited catalog says | What to verify |
|---|---|---|
| Type C | JW Winco identifies this as the spherical seat washer. JW Winco steel catalog | Confirm which dished washer or other mating surface is specified for the chosen product. |
| Type D | JW Winco identifies this as a dished washer. JW Winco steel catalog | Match its curved face and dimensions to the other component in the arrangement. |
| Type G | A dished washer with an enlarged outside diameter; JW Winco says it is mainly used on elongated holes. JW Winco steel catalog | Check hole shape, edge clearance and footprint against the current drawing. |
| DIN 6330 type B fixture nut with spherical seating | JW Winco specifies a type D or G washer and says type C is not required. Elesa+Ganter also describes the spherical washer as redundant with this nut. What to check before ordering a DIN 6319 spherical washer set
- Fastener size and bore: Match the nominal screw or thread size, then check the washer’s actual inside diameter and tolerances against the supplier drawing. Dimensional tables are available in the Böllhoff DIN 6319 C hardened-steel data sheet and the JW Winco steel catalog.
- Washer form and mating seat: Identify whether the arrangement calls for type C, D or G, and specify the matching dished seat, conical cup or spherical-seating nut. Böllhoff explains the mating-surface requirement in its spherical washer and conical cup overview.
- Clearance and footprint: Check outside diameter, height, surrounding clearance and any interference with nearby components. For an elongated hole, assess whether the enlarged footprint of type G suits the geometry.
- Material and finish: The cited options include hardened steel and AISI 316 stainless steel. JW Winco identifies its stainless item as unhardened; do not assume it has the same load capacity or corrosion behavior as a hardened-steel part. Check the product data for both mating components and the conditions at the installation site. See the Böllhoff hardened-steel sheet and JW Winco AISI 316 catalog.
- Load information: Compare the supplier’s published data for the exact size and material. JW Winco labels its stainless catalog figure “maximum transferable static bolt force”; it is product data, not an allowable capacity for the complete bolted joint. Confirm application assumptions with the manufacturer where needed, and design the full connection rather than treating the washer’s figure as a joint rating.
- Current drawing and supply: Check the current product revision, dimensional drawing and availability with the supplier before procurement. The product examples below do not establish live stock or price.
Catalog examples and finding a suitable set
A concrete example of a DIN 6319 spherical washer set is AirLoc’s M12 set, article 9.13012, intended for inclined-position adjustment of anchor bolts and listing a DIN 6319G conical dished washer. Consult the AirLoc spherical washers set page for its stated configuration and check the drawing against your application.
For a DIN 6319 spherical washer set found through a general retailer search, treat the phrase as a starting point, not a compatibility specification. Match the size, washer form and mating geometry to the manufacturer’s drawing; a product label or search result does not establish that the parts will suit a particular joint. Catalog alternatives include JW Winco’s steel forms and AISI 316 stainless forms, as well as the product information from Elesa+Ganter, Growermetal and Sucatec.
