For fine marks in glossy clear-coated wood, Howard Restor-A-Shine is the most directly targeted option among the products covered here. POLIBOY Furniture Polish light is intended for small scratches on lacquered light wood, while HOMAX Furniture White Ring Remover Cloth is marketed for minor scratches and watermarks. These are different use cases—not a tested ranking. A polish may improve the appearance of a surface mark; it should not be expected to repair a deep scratch in the wood.
Choose by the kind of scratch and furniture finish
“Furniture polish” can mean a buffing compound, a concealing polish, or a treated cloth. Check the surface and the product’s stated use before applying anything. Know when polish is not enough
A scratch in the coating may respond cosmetically to buffing or concealment. If the damage reaches into the wood, polishing products described for fine or minor surface marks are not a dependable repair. Repair depends on the furniture’s finish and construction.

For the wood surfaces covered by its care guidance, furniture maker ZEITRAUM describes sanding deep scratches along the grain and renewing the oil finish. That is a specific approach for those surfaces, not a general instruction for lacquer, varnish, shellac, or polyurethane furniture.
