EGO’s AURA-R2 is a new wire-free robotic mower range for 2026, not the company’s first robot mower family. EGO lists three models for lawns up to 1,500, 3,000 or 6,000 m². They use app-mapped virtual boundaries rather than boundary wire, with navigation based on EGO’s Path IQ system.

EGO’s UK and Ireland product pages list three AURA-R2 models. The following prices are the amounts listed on those regional pages when observed; they are not global prices or a guarantee of current stock.

Are these EGO’s first robot lawn mowers?
No. EGO’s own UK listings include RM2000E and RM4000E robotic mowers that use boundary wire, with stated lawn areas of 2,000 m² and 4,000 m² and listed prices of £799 and £1,199 respectively. The company’s 2025 catalogue also refers to an earlier robotic mower range. AURA-R2 is more accurately described as EGO’s new wire-free range and Path IQ navigation platform, rather than its first-ever robot mower family. See EGO’s UK mower listings and catalogue page.

How does Path IQ work?
EGO describes Path IQ as a combination of nRTK (network Real-Time Kinematic positioning), VIO (visual inertial odometry) and VSLAM (visual simultaneous localisation and mapping). The company says the system is intended to navigate complex gardens, including shaded areas and narrow passages where satellite reception may be weaker. EGO calls the system “unmatched,” but that is marketing language: the available sources do not independently verify navigation accuracy or reliability.
AURA-R2 uses app-defined virtual boundaries, so the installation does not require laid or buried perimeter wire. EGO says owners can map up to 40 mowing zones and the routes between them through the EGO Connect app. This approach may suit gardens where avoiding physical boundary wire is a priority, but it makes accurate site mapping and local conditions important to the result.

What specifications should buyers check?
- Cutting height: EGO lists an adjustment range of 20–90 mm.
- Weather and dust protection: EGO lists an IP66 rating.
- Zones: EGO says the system supports up to 40 zones.
- Slopes: EGO states capability up to a 50% gradient. Treat this as a manufacturer specification to verify against the model manual and actual site conditions, not a guarantee for every slope or surface.
These are manufacturer-published specifications, not independently tested performance results. EGO advises choosing by lawn area, steepest slope and layout complexity, including narrow passages, obstacles and multiple zones.
How to choose the right AURA-R2 model
- Measure mowable lawn, not the whole property. Compare the area the mower must actually cut with the model’s rated capacity. Beds, paving and other non-grass areas should not inflate the lawn estimate.
- Assess the route as well as the area. Note narrow passages, separate zones, obstacles, walls and tree cover. These affect mapping and navigation demands, even where the total area is within a model’s rating.
- Check slopes and traction conditions. Identify the steepest section and ask an authorised dealer to confirm suitability for the specific model and terrain; do not assume the stated maximum applies in every condition.
- Choose between virtual boundaries and wire. AURA-R2 uses app-mapped virtual boundaries. EGO also lists boundary-wire models, which may better match a buyer’s installation preference or site needs.
- Confirm the local deal and support. Verify price, availability, installation requirements and dealer support in your region before buying.
Promotion and included nRTK data
EGO’s UK page advertises a 2026 offer, running from 1 January through 31 December or while supplies last, for purchases through participating authorised dealers: AURA-R2 buyers may choose a specified EGO tool kit. The offer is subject to participation and availability, is non-transferable and has no cash alternative. The page also says the AURA-R2 launch bundle includes three years of free nRTK data. Check the live UK terms and participating dealer before relying on either benefit; terms and availability may differ outside the UK.

Setup, accessories and ownership checks
EGO’s UK catalogue lists robotic mower blades, installation kits, Path IQ antenna poles, a power supply and an extension cable. The catalogue listing alone does not establish that every accessory fits every AURA-R2 model. Confirm compatibility by exact model number with EGO or an authorised dealer before ordering replacement parts or setup equipment.
