St Matthew’s Anglican School’s Stage 1 development in Yanchep was unanimously approved on November 19, 2025. The school’s current plan is to open in Term 1 2027, initially serving Kindergarten to Year 6, and expand year by year to Kindergarten to Year 12 by 2033. Stage One construction had begun by March 2026, according to the Anglican Diocese of Perth.
What the approval covers
The Metro Outer Development Assessment Panel approved Stage 1 of the project at its November 19, 2025 meeting, according to PerthNow’s November 20, 2025 report. That decision relates to Stage 1; it should not be read as approval for later campus stages.
PerthNow reported the project cost at approval as $17.1 million. This is an approval-era reported figure, not confirmation of the project’s current or final cost.
Capacity and staged development
PerthNow reported that the proposed Stage 1 capacity was amended at the panel meeting from 288 to a maximum of 353 students. That built-capacity figure is distinct from the school’s planned opening offer of Kindergarten to Year 6.

Opening plan and school growth
The school’s official website says it plans to open in Term 1 2027 with Kindergarten to Year 6, then add year levels progressively to reach Kindergarten to Year 12 by 2033. These are the school’s stated plans; the opening date and expansion remain future milestones.

What the “first private school” description means
PerthNow used “Yanchep’s first private school” in its report headline. The official school pages establish the planned school and its location, but do not independently document a complete inventory of other private schools in the area. The description is therefore best treated as the news report’s characterization rather than a separately verified local comparison.

The school’s stated vision
PerthNow attributed a statement on the school website to Executive Principal Adrian Pree, describing the intended ethos: “St Matthew’s Anglican School will be a dynamic Christian learning community that embraces students from all backgrounds.” He also said the school is committed to valuing post-school destinations equally and helping students leave with skills, confidence and character. These are statements of the school’s aims, not independently measured outcomes.
