Sienci Labs’ LongMill Benchtop CNC Router launched on Kickstarter in 2019, raising CA$436,197 from 324 backers against a CA$60,000 goal. The campaign is over: Sienci Labs later reported shipping all campaign machines. The LongMill available in the company’s current product information is the MK3, a later generation whose specifications should not be confused with the version offered to Kickstarter backers.
How the 2019 Kickstarter campaign performed
The LongMill campaign ran from March 26 through April 25, 2019, a 30-day period. It finished with CA$436,197 pledged by 324 backers, exceeding its CA$60,000 goal. Sienci Labs said the campaign reached that goal within 16 hours. Kickstarter’s campaign page records the campaign totals and dates; the 16-hour milestone comes from Sienci Labs’ December 2019 retrospective.
The company described the machine as a CNC milling option for makers, hobbyists, woodworkers, and craftspeople. Sienci Labs said development began in 2018, with the aim of making a machine larger and more powerful than its Mill One while retaining a simple-to-use approach.
What happened after funding
On October 23, 2019, Sienci Labs announced that shipping was beginning. The company said it started with local pickups so early users could help identify problems and receive quick assistance, and that backers would receive tracking information before their machines shipped. The update marks the beginning of fulfillment, not a delivery date for every backer. Read the October shipping update.

What the original campaign said the LongMill could do
The Kickstarter FAQ said the campaign-era LongMill could cut wood, plastic, foam, and soft metals; it also noted that users had cut thin stainless-steel and copper sheet. The FAQ described support for standard G-code and dozens of free and paid CAM software packages. These are campaign-era descriptions, not a specification sheet for the current MK3. What the current LongMill MK3 offers
Sienci Labs’ current product information describes the LongMill MK3, a later product generation. The manufacturer lists a linear-rail system, closed-loop stepper motors, and a grblHAL-based controller. It says the MK3 is compatible with softwood, hardwood, plastics, foam, acrylic, and aluminum, and supports fourth-axis rotary accessories. Sienci Labs also lists cuts up to 275 inches per minute; this is a manufacturer-stated figure, not an independently verified performance result. See the LongMill MK3 product page.
MK3 size options and working area
The MK3 specification page lists two configurations. Cutting-area dimensions are X × Y × Z; the suggested table sizes are the manufacturer’s recommended footprints.

| MK3 configuration | Listed cutting area | Suggested table size |
|---|---|---|
| 30×30 | 32×32×5.1 inches | 60×48 inches |
| 48×30 | 49×32×5.1 inches | 78×48 inches |
Both listed configurations have a 5.1-inch Z cutting dimension. The MK3 page says the 80 mm spindle option reduces cutting area, so verify the usable space for the exact configuration and spindle before planning a job. See Sienci Labs’ MK3 specifications.
MK3 mechanics, mounts, and operating conditions
Sienci Labs specifies T12 lead screws, 15 mm profiled linear rails, and NEMA 23 closed-loop stepper motors rated at 1.2 Nm on all axes. The listed controller is the SLB-LITE running grblHAL. The machine supports 65 mm and 80 mm router or spindle mounts. The manufacturer specifies a shop operating temperature range of 5–30°C for reliable operation. These are manufacturer specifications, not independent testing results. MK3 specifications.

- Industrial-Grade Stability & Precision: Engineered with an upgraded Z-axis linear guideway and heavy-duty structure, the 4030S delivers superior stability during high-speed operation. It achieves a repeatable positioning accuracy of ±0.05 mm, ensuring every cut and engraving allows for professional, consistent results comparable to closed-loop motor systems.
- 710W High-Power Performance: Step up from standard hobbyist machines with the robust 710W compact router. This upgraded spindle provides significantly stronger cutting force and faster engraving speeds, making it capable of handling harder materials like aluminum and acrylic with ease.
- Expanded Creative Capacity: Break free from size limitations. The 4030S features an impressive 130mm pass height—significantly higher than most desktop CNC routers—allowing you to work on taller objects (like rotary projects) and thicker materials for maximum versatility.
- High-Speed, Low-Noise Operation: A redesigned control board and drive chip integration boost operating speeds from 2000 mm/min to 5000 mm/min, a 150% increase in efficiency. Despite the power increase, the system maintains a quiet working environment with noise levels kept under 65 dB.
- 32-Bit MCU for Smoother Carving: The upgraded 32-bit MCU on the PROVerXL 4030S delivers a significant performance boost compared with the 8-bit controllers used in earlier PROVerXL 4030 V1 and V2 models. It processes complex toolpaths more smoothly and efficiently, ensuring stable motion and higher accuracy—making it ideal for detailed relief carving, curved surface engraving, and other high-precision CNC projects.
What to plan for before buying an MK3
Items supplied and items you must source
The MK3 page says the machine includes pre-assembled rails, electronics, power supply, drivers, and motors. It excludes the computer or laptop, router, end mills or bits, work surface, and assembly tools. Budget for those items and confirm compatibility with the exact machine configuration; the current page does not establish that a 2019 backer received the same components. Included and excluded equipment.
Electrical and shop setup
The manufacturer says the dual-voltage power supply accommodates 110/120V and 220V, while supplied routers are 110V for North America. For a setup using a router or spindle and dust collection, Sienci recommends at least two 15A circuits. Check the electrical requirements of the specific router or spindle and dust-collection equipment as well as the machine’s requirements; the MK3 power-supply voltage alone does not establish that every component will work on a given circuit.

- This bundle includes a standard FoxAlien Masuter Pro CNC router machine and a 4080 extension kit.
- Masuter Pro is an All-Aluminum CNC router machine. The Z-axis uses Linear Rail instead of rods and T8 lead screw, this greatly improves the stability and accuracy.
- The 4080-extension kit is only for FoxAlien Masuter Pro CNC engraving machine upgrade. It can extend the working area to 15.75" x 31.5" (400mm x 800mm, X-Y).
- Masuter Pro includes 2 spindle clamps: 52mm & 65mm. The 52mm clamp can accommodate the 60W spindle, 300W spindle and the FoxAlien 20W/40W modules. The 65mm clamp is for customized upgrade, such as 65mm router, 1.5KW spindle, etc. It also supports the 69mm spindle clamp, please buy separately.
- With this upgrade kit, Y-axis travel will double, and this will enable the CNC router machine to accomplish more large size projects such as making skateboard, guitar, and billboard etc.
Choosing a size and planning the workflow
Start with the largest workpiece you expect to machine and compare it with the listed cutting area, rather than relying on the model name alone. Then confirm that the recommended table footprint fits the shop and that the 5.1-inch Z dimension suits the work. Account for the reduced cutting area with an 80 mm spindle, separately sourced equipment, workholding, and dust collection. The page gives configurations and requirements, but current price, stock, and shipping timing are not established here.
Campaign model versus current MK3
The Kickstarter FAQ and the present MK3 specification page describe different product generations. The campaign FAQ refers to three original machine sizes, while the current MK3 specifications list 30×30 and 48×30 configurations with their own cutting areas and table footprints. Do not use a campaign-era dimension or capability as an MK3 specification, or assume the current MK3 package matches what 2019 backers received.
