The Shark EZ Robot Self-Empty AV911S is a vacuum-only robot with a bagless self-empty base. It can be a practical way to reduce routine bin emptying, particularly on bare floors, but it is a weaker fit for pet hair worked into low-pile carpet or for homes that need precise mapping and virtual no-go zones. This review draws on RTINGS’ review, updated February 6, 2023 and modified September 24, 2024—not new 2026 testing.
What the AV911S includes
The AV911S is a robot vacuum sold with an external self-empty base. After cleaning, the robot transfers debris from its onboard bin into the base’s larger bagless compartment. The base reduces how often you need to empty the robot itself, but it does not dispose of dirt for you: the owner still has to remove and empty the base compartment. RTINGS describes that compartment as easy to remove and empty. The AV911S does not mop.
SharkNinja describes its self-empty bases generally as bagless, so there are no replacement disposal bags for those bases. That is manufacturer guidance about the product category, not an independent model-specific performance finding: SharkNinja’s self-empty robot vacuum guidance.
How well does it clean pet hair?
Bare floors
RTINGS reports strong pet-hair pickup on bare floors. If most of your home has hard flooring, that is the clearest strength in this review.

Low-pile carpet
Results are less convincing when hair is embedded in low-pile carpet. RTINGS characterizes carpet pickup as mediocre and notes the robot may need multiple passes to collect debris and hair. The review does not establish a numeric score here, so treat the result as a qualitative assessment rather than a guaranteed cleaning outcome.
Navigation, mapping, and cords
The AV911S lacks LiDAR mapping and has fewer automation capabilities than the pricier Shark AI Ultra, according to RTINGS. Its app also does not support virtual no-go zones. That makes it less suitable if you want to draw precise boundaries in an app or rely on map-based control.

Do not count on it to cross power cables reliably. RTINGS says it generally will not climb over them and may treat them as barriers. Pick up cords and other loose obstacles before a run, especially where a cable could block a route or leave part of a room uncleaned.
Maintenance and replacement parts
The self-empty base changes where debris collects; it does not remove routine care. RTINGS says many parts need regular cleaning and estimates that the brushroll may need replacing every six to twelve months depending on use. Replace side brushes when they are bent or damaged rather than on a fixed interval.

SharkNinja’s general maintenance guidance says filters and side brushes may need periodic replacement and directs owners to the product manual and SharkClean app for schedules and alerts: SharkNinja maintenance guidance. Check the AV911S manual or manufacturer parts catalog before ordering anything; compatibility of specific replacement parts has not been established here.

- A reasonable fit: Homes with mostly bare floors, owners who want the robot’s bin emptied into a larger bagless compartment, and people willing to maintain the vacuum and prepare floors before cleaning.
- Look elsewhere if: Pet hair is embedded in low-pile carpet, you need app-based virtual boundaries or stronger mapping automation, you expect a robot to navigate across cords, or you need mopping.
