The Finnish-designed Karoo Adventure Camper puts a wet bath behind its kitchen wall. Slide the refrigerator-and-wall assembly aside to reveal the bathroom; a lower sliding wall and roll-down partition complete the private space. The layout is designed to keep a compact trailer usable for both camping and hauling gear, though its current production specifications and delivery status have not been independently verified.
How does the hidden bathroom work?
In New Atlas’s 2024 report and accompanying design animation, the bathroom sits at the front of the trailer, behind the kitchen block. The refrigerator is mounted in a sliding wall assembly. Moving that assembly reveals the bathroom entrance; the lower wall slides back, and a roll-down partition provides privacy. The reported wet bath includes a shower, cassette toilet and clothes-drying rack. This is a description of the design, not an independent test of the mechanism or its durability.
Shifting the refrigerator reportedly places it over the dual-burner stove. The kitchen is described as usable indoors or outdoors, with a sliding gas cooktop and sink. New Atlas’s 2024 report provides the layout description.
What is the Karoo Adventure Camper?
Karoo Oy’s camper is a Finnish-designed, dual-purpose trailer intended to combine a compact living space with room for cargo. Rather than dedicating a permanent section of the floor to bathroom access or fixed sleeping furniture, the design hides the bathroom behind the kitchen and uses lift-away beds to open up floor area.

Sleeping and cargo space
New Atlas reported the trailer as 5 m (16.4 ft) long and 2.2 m (7 ft) high. Its 2024 description says a lift-away double bed and bunk bed can clear most of the floor for gear, which can be loaded through an oversized rear hatch or a side hatch. That report described sleeping capacity for up to two adults and two children. It also mentioned a foldaway lounge-chair arrangement that converts into beds as a planned layout.
These are report-era figures and descriptions for a model still in development at the time; they should not be treated as confirmed production specifications. New Atlas, 2024.

Buyers should confirm the completed trailer’s weight, payload and equipment with Karoo before assessing vehicle compatibility.
When is it expected, and what is known about the price?
Karoo Oy’s latest located update, dated 28 August 2026, says first customer deliveries are planned for early 2027 after further product development. The company said it would show the camper in complete form at Caravan Salon Düsseldorf, confirm orders with existing pre-order customers and accept new orders for the upcoming production season. CEO Timo Huhtala said, “Karoo is now focused on completing the development of the Karoo caravan and beginning customer deliveries in early 2027.” This is Karoo’s stated plan, not confirmation that production or deliveries have been completed. What should prospective buyers verify?
The design may appeal to campers who want bathroom facilities without giving up as much floor space to fixed fittings. But buyers should base a decision on current documentation, not development-era descriptions. Ask Karoo or an authorized seller to confirm:
- Final dimensions, dry weight, payload and required towing capacity for the completed production model.
- Which listed features, including the battery, solar, heating and hot water, are standard or optional.
- Current price, order terms and delivery timing for the buyer’s country.
- How the bathroom partition and sliding refrigerator assembly operate in the production version, and what maintenance they require.
- Whether the cassette toilet’s manufacturer specifies compatible treatments; the 2024 report does not identify its make or model.
Karoo describes the trailer as aerodynamic and suitable for towing by electric vehicles, but the available company material does not establish independent towing-efficiency results. Practical towing performance, mechanism durability and owner experience likewise remain unverified by the sources cited here.
